400 fsb was easy, no need to increase any voltage...

430 fsb was a little harder, all voltages full...

vdimm 2.4
vcore 1.45
vmch 1.65
fsb temr voltage 1.3

i can boot @440 fsb, but far from stabile...

i'll try vmch pencil mod and go for 500 fsb +...

Hi all,

Was hoping someone could let me know what the highest safe voltages for 24x7 use are for a system running on Air with default chipset Heat Sinks: -

Is it ok to set the vMCH to 1.65v for 24x7 use or is this overkill as with my E6700ES I cant seem to get above 300FSB without issues.

hi,

i wanted to ask that if others here with this board get some random lockups ? since yesterday i got them twice...but on the last one but pc didnt wanted to boot...no display only fans turned on...i took out the powercable and let it sit for 5 mins,once i put back the powercable the board turn on itself for 3secs...then went off, but it booted fine when i pushed the power button in front of casing...anyhow idea what causes that ?

EDIT: im using bios 1101, board came with 0701...and all settings are on auto/stock.

Any ES owner tried bios 1001 ? wondering if multi unlocked with it

Well well.....I took apart the NB/SB heatsinks applied AS5 and my mobo temperature has dropped a staggering 5C under load and 3C @ idle.I never go above 40C under load now :) I reccommend it!

Poblems with E6600 + P5W DH + 2G OCZ 6400 + 2 Optical Drives + SATA 320G + ATI X600

1, One of my DVD drive (Pioneer 106) is connected to the Jmicron PATA. It cannot be detected in BIOS, but shows up in the Boot device order list. Every time I turned on my marchine, there was a message about the DVD drive showing something about Jmicron.com and in winxp, it works just fine. What should I do to let the BIOS see the drive and get rid of the message?

2, My CPU idle temp is 43~45, MB idle temp is 44~45. Are these temps too high? Currently, I 'm running everything at the stock speed and using the stock HSF. What should I do to lower the temps? My computer case is TT's armor VA8000BNS.

3, The OCZ 6400 firstly detected as 5300 and I have to manually set it as 6400 in the BIOS. Is it normal?

I have a real problem and I am at a loss to work out what I can do.

I currently have 4 x 512Mb Corsair XMS2 cas5 RAM but there seems to be a problem when using all four. If I have all four sims in the computer wont post. nothing at all, just sits there. If I take out the Dimms from slots 1 and 2the computer boots fine.

I then shut down the PC, take out the 2 "Working" sticks of RAM and put in the other 2 and the computer boots fine. If I put one of the 512's in to either slot 1 or 2 the computer wont boot.

I initially thought it was a motherboard problem so I contacted ASUS and they suggested I return the motherboard which I did. Now I have just rebuilt my computer after I got a replacement today and the problem is still as I have described above so obviously the Mboard was not faulty.

Has anyone else had the same or similar problems? I really have no idea now what to do. All 4 sticks of ram came out of my old Motherboard and they worked fine.

Okay not really a problem but a bit curious. Has anyone try ripping a movie off dvdshrink? Okay well I did and here's the weird part. I tried it at stock speed 2.4 and it came out like 15 min 15sec. Then I overclock it to 3.6 and it came out 15min 12sec. I thought dvdshrink is dependent on cpu, so shouldnt it make a difference?

Can someone else confirm this, it's kinda bugging me. I'm not sure if there is some kind of IDE limit on this board. Thanks

are you using any of the high quality options if you reduce the size of the dvd ?
if not it is only as fast as the dvd drive can read the disk
check the cpu activity while ripping.

Mine takes like a minute almost, that is so anyoing, anyone know what the problem might be?

I tried a different cd-rom drive same thing,
i repalced IDE cables, same thing,
i installed all drivers found on the asus cd. still the same thing, weird.

You think? i installed the updated drivers, and it does install things alright so far, except in explorer when you first click the damn cd-rom drive it takes a long time to list the damn files.

Wow this is so lame. I put on a waterblock instead of my Zalman 9500 and now my motherboard is crying:

Floppy Controller Failure
No keyboard detected
CMOS Checksum bad (happened after I took the battery out and turned off the PSU)

If I plug in a USB keyboard, it'll detect but not function properly. If I plug in a PS/2 keyboard it says not detected. If I plug in both, it'll detect the USB and still not function properly.

The floppy is unplugged right now. If I plug it in, it'll sit trying to detect storage devices... it'll finish the SATA, IDE and USB, but then just sit there trying to (I assume) talk to the floppy drive.

Does Asus consider pull off that "Digital Home" and "Asus" heatsink heat-trap pieces of junk grounds for voiding warranty? What a crappy problem since I just finished a quick leaktest on my water loop and wanted to see if this would make my rig any more stable... maybe the particular board I have was just doomed to fail since it was manufactured. Thanks Asus! </sarcasm>

Passive cooling FTL with this board! But if you must I suggest redoing everything with AS5. Otherwise, yea remove that cover and slap a fan on there.

sounds like you havnt tried anything to fix it tbh.

did you re-flash the bios then clear cmos?

I did not flash any BIOS. I only removed every source of power (PSU and Battery).

I removed the mobo from the case, blew it with air and wiped around stuff with some cotton pads to pick up bits of junk (dust and plastic and whatever else is there).. it looks like it's detecting my keyboard, USB or PS/2, and letting me do keypresses. Not sure if the extended power out, or the cleaning was the fix... but at least I can interact again :)

BTW I've already reseated all the sinks with AS5. Doesn't help much though :)

I was pretty worried because at one point, unplugging or plugging in the USB keyboard would make the computer turn on... very very strange. My heart is still kind of beating strangely after the near-death experience of this motherboard. Gaggghghh!!!!

Normal behaviour because you're plugging the keyboard into ports 3 and 4. Use 1 and 2.

Does anyone know why it won't boot past a certain FSB without enabling RAM timings by SPD? Is it because the RAM sucks? I changed it to manual timings (it should be 4-4-4-12 @ 800mhz) changed vMCH, vDIMM, and it still wouldn't boot, even at loosened timings of 5-5-5-15, and it set it to 5-6-6-18 :(

Suppose its best to leave the SPD Auto, while you clock the rest, less to think about ;)

You can always tighten the timings after, not that benching shows much change in the bandwidth department.

Hi, I am only running a sata hard drive.... my roms are IDE.
But at boot up, or reboot... it stays at the first screen forever, before booting
(just shows the proc and what speed it is running at)?

I have 4 x 1G sticks, and had to run slower 2T timings with my AMD X2, and I think Intel have the same limitations.

I am running 4 x 1G on my 6400 fine - althought this GSKILL did need 2.0V without giving errors.

Are you running SPD timings or manually setting them? Try SPD...

To be honest I havent touched them, threw everything together and expected it to at least post. But I dont even get that with all 4 Dimms in. The fans spin etc but there is not even a beep after I puch the power button.

I took the Dimms out of Slots 1 and 2 and it posts. I can get to the Bios and I have upped the voltage to 2.1v put the dims back in and still nothing.
It cant be a faulty mboard, what are the odds of 2 motherboards having exactly the same problem. and Corsair are saying that this RAM is compatible with this Mboard.
