and the point is.. even if the board cant hold too much above 400 on 9x thats ok cuz if you can drop the multi and increase the FSB your memory performance just goes way up.
400 isnt anything thats all auto also.

i dont see this lasting too long i imagine they may address this as the DQ6 has the same issues. and infact if you wanna be honest all the boards 975 and 965 have issues above 400 unless you mod the crap out of them, there ae only a rare 2 or 3 people who dont have to mod them and can achieve 450. thats very few and far between.
its something with this chipset not liking the cpu multiplier or.. just a straight up limitation of the chipset.

and another with the ram manually set to 5-5-5 cpu-z get quirky with the timings above stock for some reason. this is where we get into the the possibility of really loose chipset timings

Ive sayd this also in another topic : if you want a high fsb (+/- 500 mhz ) on a conroe bord, you need to get 1.85 to 1.9 Volt on the northbridge / MCH. :) , every 0.05V above the standard 1.65 V is a 7 / 8 mhz gain , see also http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu...o-e6300_8.html and http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2797&p=3

on the BIOS it says +0.3v (btw does vfsb help??), so what default is like 1.5v or something?? then its 1.8v.

also u can go to 600fsb on this baord, but 1.6v vcore is useless. Many people can't boot when 1.6 vcore is selected, let along 2v!!

i just got mine and im running it with my celeron D, running great so far. i will try overclocking later

I don't think you'll really need more than 1.6 for air or water. not like you'll really use phase on a entry level board :stick:

i cant boot without vmch +0.1v (again i am not sure if default is 1.5v) with Pentium D 920 at 4GHz 286fsb, but when i select +0.2v i was able to boot and quite stable actually

is there any way to change the command rate or is it done automatically?
still on F1 bios at the moment

haha, I just noticed the board isn't "FULL" atx but smaller..

does anyone know if clockgen works with this board?

dont kill thi smobo yet man this a killer board. like i said im @ 400 with default mch ich and front side bus pci-e is @ 100 pci is @ 33.3 and pci-e voltage is at auto also. vcore is 1.3 though as i wanted to rule out any issues of the cpu puking out.

the board has the option to drop down to ... uhmmm... 667 ram but i dont think it does 533 which would allow me to go way more on the fsb.

if you go to tankguys.com and buy the teamgroup ddr667 its 187 bucks and it will hit 1000+ mhz on 2.2-2.4v that ram is perfect for this board.
im ordering some tommorrow i think.

No the $187 stuff (now $190) is rated 3-4-4-8.

It seems that the 3-3-3-8 is similar but higher binned by OPB. That however costs $250

Well 480x8 is 3840 and 400x9 is 3600. It's a 6,666% more mhz, which kills the average 3.5% advantage from 4mb L2. And it's 100€ cheaper :cool:

IMO the ones listed as "Promos chip" are the HC3 ones binned by OPB, but are wrongly listed as 3-4-4-8, right?

my previous K8NS nforce 3 mobo makes squealing noises when I run prime95, most of gigabyte mobos make squealing noises underload, I don't know why

no squealing noises with my board
so far it's been priming the last few hours at 461 fsb with my step 5 E6300 ES
stock vcore and mch

nice seriously they need to put dividers in this thing and i am set. the only thing stoping me is my ram. and im not spending alot of money on ram anymore. maybe i should just save the trouble and look at the E6400 and/or wait for the E4xxx series.

that you need the C1 stepping of the 965P-DS3 or it runs very hot (what does no EIST mean?), also his G Skill memory did not work with the 965P-DS3 (what does "No VIIV" mean?)

wish he told us which gskill he had. cuz i have a pair or gskill.waiting for this board. and maybe it was user error and he had to bump the voltage up a lil to get it working right.
