I haven't used sandra since about 2006, it's too synthetic IMO. I run the std 140mm top fan and a 120mm LED tricool as the rear fan and a 120mm tricool that came with the case as the front intake, all fans on lowest setting.

Just recieved an E8400 from NewEgg.
Batch # Q837A218 SLB9J
Anyone have info regarding this batch? I'm trying to figure out if i should swap it for my current E8400 C0 Batch Q746A489.
These are results from my current E8400.

4700Mhz at 1.45v Superpi32 and gaming stable without any crash yet.
1.45 is safe for lets say 1 year ?
Dont dare to try anything harder it might ruin my smile =)
38 Idle and 60 load temp with Scythe Mugen 2
Batch E8400 Q839A293 SLB9J
Still dont know a crap about timings on DDR2 and D9 but its running at 4-4-4-14 523mhz.
DS3 v3.3 Im still learning this Intel stuff.
Voltmodded For vdroop just cause i was bored, dunno about result.
Well, I hit 4400, but it requires about .1v more than 4200 and hits almost 13c higher too. What do you think guys, is <70 good enough or too risky for these chips?
In HWmonitor:
Remote 1 ~ Northbridge
Remote 2 ~ Southbridge
Room temp ~ 25C

i just got an E8400 (Batch# Q837A218) from Newegg and will be testing it in my sig rig this week - i have a C0 in there now that i'm putting in a different box. i'll report back with speeds and volts when i have all that.
Recieved my E8400 from Newegg aswell.
Batch # Q837A218 SLB9J
Doing some quick testing this E0 seems to be a nice upgrade from my C0.
Reached 495x9 :yepp: going to lower vCore and continue stability testing.
Sorry about this terrible screenshot.... I screwed it up in paint :(

how about this one I got?

Default vid is 1.2375v

still, without any errors, sometimes the pc simply restarts during IBT... It doesn't seem to be the cpu. IBT would simply show unstable results before the crash and it doesn't...
Well since the other week with the heatwave here and my BSOD...
I cant get my E8400 to 4320mhz/480FSB/1.280vcore
Im currently on 4185mhz/465FSB/1.296vcore, and thats about it. I CBF'd at the moment edging it up, to find the total limit
So it seems now i cant clock the CPU back to the original setting that was stable in cooler weather (and its cooler again now) :(
Every time i run Prime is fails one of the CPU workers in less than 5mins.
Any idea what would be causing it?
Ram or CPU im guessing... fk this is annoying as it was stable perfectly and passed hours on hours of every test under the sun.
Ok more playing.. E8400 to 4320mhz/480FSB/1.298vcore... failed prime again! Always the same worker, CPU #0
I moved the ram timings out to 5-7-7-18 and upped the volts to 2.16
(they are rated at 533mhz, 5-5-5-15 @ 2.1v)
So i might try 6-7-7-18 later on when i get home
Any ideas peoples?
I've always had a suspicion my ram wasnt totally happy as i set it to what the EPP says in CPU-Z and it never posted.
Maybe they are angry at me hehe
Break it down to testing the ram and cpu separately.
Test with memtest and see if it the ram. Let it go to 1000% if you can. I've had errors show up at 500-600% and prime was failing after long periods.

IBT stable at 4.275Ghz. 475X9FSB 1.38Vcore.
I set the Vcore higher just for peace of mind. I will have better results when I finally get that new RAM in, and can get this board under water. Still in the process of building it. You should see my other toy ;) Will post pics when I can find my camera.

At my local MC store, I saw a few batches: Q828A and Q829A (both with a Pack Date: 09/18/08) and Q842A (Pack Date: 01/14/09). Anybody knows if these OC good or not? I used to own two when it first launched, sold them soon afterward in anticipation of the i7. I've been running on budget CPUs for awhile along with my i7 (since launch). I sold my two budget CPUs and now I need to get an E8400. It will go on my P5B Deluxe (non-WIFI). Anyone with info please post here. TIA...
Damn. I just changed back to 4Ghz. The only difference's would be the obvious increase in Vcore (to 1.344 in windows w/ orthos loaded), a single notch drop in VTT, and of course the bus speed. Aside from that, here ya go:

It's much friendlier on my room temp wo/ that E8400 pumping out the heat 2 4.4Ghz. IMO, the risks and heat output simply aren't worth the extra 400Ghz.
My Phase Unit just arrived :D along with it a E8500 :D
Heres my first quick test.

I'v never used a dual or 45nm before so i'm still learning a bit. I know the E8500 is a C0, but i got it really cheap off the builder.
You are right, that was the problem. :)
I got it fixed last friday by bumping the Vcore up to 1.30v.
Although it really didn't seem to be the Vcore, as my last 8400 would show errors before crashing.
SLB9J's sure are strange.
Up to 4500mhz this chip doesn't show signs of instability on OCCT or IBT if the vcore is not enough. It simply restarts in the middle of the test.
But above 4600mhz the behaviour is different. It shows errors instead of restarting.
My stepping is Q839A270.
I also tried two Q837's but they aren't very good.
ATM i'm testing how low my Vcore can go at stock on my E8500. So far its down to 1.104v.
http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/m...owestVcore.jpg
Anyone know whats the lowest ever for a E8500 C0 at stock?
I just picked up an E8500 Batch #Q828A61A running that on an Asus P5Q deluxe and 2x2 gig corsair dominators. Just got the cpu up to 550 fsb with a low multi of 6 and 6.5 just to see if its capable. The only problem I'm havin is the ram keeps crappin out. I have the cpu at 1.325v and had the NB 1.42V with no success, any suggestions would be appreciated.
ps: all other settings left on auto, boots into windows sometimes and when it does fails blend.
