So seems my board just can't do TRD of less than 7 at 450 FSB also seems like any memory latency below 50 ns is a no go....

A huge applaud to Tony. The man that really EARNS his money...
the bios will be tuned again after Chinese New year, most of the engineers are not working so we just have to wait.
i will try the rampage bios once my paraller cable arrives for the bios flasher...issue is we will need to edit name string to get it flashable on your boards if it works.
hi,
im just going to try my luck here , and hope its the best section for this.
i just bought a maximus formula s.e the other day, and im having this major problem with this board.
its runs ok on default but if i try setting overclock to manual i get the "maximus formula chasis intruded! fatal error system halted" error.
this only happens on manual , auto boots up fine. so it cant be the chasis intrusion feature or jumper leads etc how weird is that?
ive tried moving the chasis jumper lead , ive reset cmos hundreds of times, installed latest bios 907 rolled back bios, but nothing seems to work. if i cant set it to manual to increase dram voltage then i cant run my ddr2 1066 at 1066mhz instead it will run at 800mhz.
like i said voltages cant be increased without getting that error. ram is brand new.everything else test fine and ive tested the board with other ram (corsair xms2 ddr800 )and i still get the error.
so basically i cant overclock and cant run my ram at its stock settings .
any advice will be much appreciated. ive googled for answers but theres nothing and asus , well. im sure u know what there like. lol
should i just rma the board?
thanks adya
maximus formula s.e / 2x1gb ddr2 1066 crucial ballistix /x6800 core2 / 8800 gt /supreme fx II /2x80 gb raptors /thermaltake 850watt psu / zalman 7900 nt
oh yeah tony is there a chance that the bios can control the two gtl's on the CPU??? like dfi LP UT p35
Concerning the CPU INIT problems
i was dead lock on cpu init problems for about 2 days testing anything i could from forum i read
finaly the only thing i had never try in all the solution was to DISCONNECT the lcd poster
by doing so it did finaly boot and i was able to go in bios update it and go on
i finaly get to find that one of the pin of the lcd poster was bent and was fittinmg with another pin when i was connecting the lcd poster, i did plug it only 1 time from the first so i can imagine it was allready bent when i received the board
so if that can help anyone just check out the 4 pin of the lcd poster and make sure they are all right !! :)
this board is great been overclocking my q6600 at 3.6 ghz easy with only cpu voltage and memory voltage adjustement
good lock to anyone having this cpu init problems, i hope my solution may help a few one :)
Would be very nice, if next bios reads out temperatures correctly again
"good lock to anyone having this cpu init problems, i hope my solution may help a few one"
Never heard of thast one yet, but it would be nice if I can interupt the tRd portion of this tread for a moment to ask if anybody had any BIOS flash weirdness after reverting back with Live Update then up again with EZ-Flash? Or if just anybody other then myself have a bad BIOS flash experience?
Loads only if I press F2 to load defaults and continue, but hangs at "DET RAM" if I press F1 to enter set and just exit (wether I touch anything or not).
By default, you mean all the way to 0401 or so? I went back to only v0802 and up 1 at a time to 0907 again and all the same each time, Yes of corse, using EZ-Flash acept from when going back to 0802 twice.
Recap: 802 EZ-Flach to 903, 903 Live Update back to 802, 802 EZ-Flash to 903, then 907 again then back to 802 and then 901, 903, 907, and again back to 802.
Whould it have helped to go back further, then up to 802?
hey guys i just got a set of g.skill F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ,im wondering if anyone has any good bios settings for these ? and what would be the max volts for these ?

Do not double post!
The ASUS Maximus is a good board.
I've done a bit of overclocking, but I've never had a board with so many settings. Where can I get more information on things like clock twister and all those other little things like that? I've never even heard of a lot of them. I'm not sure if they will help me get more stable overclocks on less voltage which is what I need.
ive had a strange issue with the asus maximus formula board. Whenever i change a bios setting and "exit and save" the board turns off and then turns back on after like 4 seconds. Ive heard people saying its the CMOS flashing. It happens every time i change a setting, and also when i turn the computer off and unplug the power cord from the PSU. When i do take the power cord out of the PSU and then turn it on again the board will power up and then immediately shut down for like 4 seconds and then power back up again. this is with BIOS 0907. Is this normal?
Hey guys, I just upgrade my P35 platinum which ran stable at 3.2G on my Q6600 to this Formula Maximus and I cant even get it to run stable at 3.0G.
My sig has my new system specs. Maybe I can get some suggestions on what to run the bios at.
Is this board better than my P35 platinum for OCing ?
Happens every time you do bios changes like you said. It's not just 0907, always done it. I'm sure it's normal. My guess is it does it when it has to initialize new voltages or timings. New plug-in it might forget and new clock settings in bios would also need to
no it means everytime u want to flash a new bios
save new bios in a usb for example
go to bios
reset to default setting
save and boot back into bios
flash ure bios via ezflash in the bios.
aka problem free
and dont use ure previos bios overclocking profile if u saved any
hmm guys actually all this has been already discussed.. read either one of the threads.
well i never changed the strap so it was always at default, and there were occasions it didnt do it, so it seemed it was flashing sporadically, i RMAed just in case because i couldnt find any discussion on this and the people i did read that had this occur just RMAed theirs. thanks for the info though.Quote:
If I am right this is caused by other strap then 266, like 333 or 400 strap, as the board boots always default 266, and since u set 333 or 400 strap, the board need to "switch" and thus causing it reboots, same with my P5K Deluxe.
Same for me....
If I shut off my power supply in the evening and boot up next morning my board does the same thing, It starts then shuts off and starts again properly. It also does this after any fiddling around with various BIOS settings. Is it just a trait of this board as it seems to be working perfectly otherwise?
Its "normal" since P5B at least. First boot, changing mem timings or strap etc Asus boards wil do this.
Thanks Loc.o  Nice to be reaasured that it's normal.
