OCZ to come out with new VERTEX SSD,S equiped with 64MB OF CACHE starting at $129

Does not look right to me :confused:

When you set up Raid you stripe the disk to accommodate a particular transfer block size.

You set that to a figure like 64K in a 2 disk setup that means 32K to disk 1 and 32K to disk 2

Now my understanding is if the data chuck is less than the stripe size then either or disk is used and you only have the performance of 1 drive.

e.g a 4K text file will only ever reside on 1 disk and be read by one disk but a 64K file will reside over both and be read in by both drives.

But if you apply that logic to the vertex it seems to exceed its own quoted specs by a significant margin.... at the lower block sizes.

Is my understanding flawed ????? :shrug:

LOL fully agree, he's the one not having a clue of what RAID can do to performance with regular computer usage, that sentence just made my day. All he cares is IOPS IOPS gimme more IOPS else it's crap, :rolleyes:

Vertex has got plenty of that already for whatever you would throw at it, raiding those just is overkill. Unless you plan on using a file server for gaming, no need for xtreme iops :P

He also started the whole Wendy is biased drama, which is funny since if someone wanted to compare the vertex, do their own homework and use something called "google" to find a screenshot of the Intel benchmark needed.. ah lazyness.. another fanboi. A true xtreme care only about performance, not brands. Makes me laugh when people gets so intimate with a company example the red and green, reminds me of religion :D
