It's between the 12th and the 14th, definitely not the 30th.

Spartan for €433
As the HD4870 X2 aka R700 launch is just around the corner, some European retailers are jumping the gun and listing the new card today.
We found Sapphire's HD4870 X2 listed for €433 on two sites. No surprise price wise, and as expected the GDDR5 flavored version comes first. The card runs at 2x 750MHz and 2x 900MHz for the core and memory. It has a 2x 256-bit memory interface, 2x 800 stream processors and 2x 40 texture units. We're still not sure about the power consumption or availability dates, although initial reports claim it should be widely available in the last week of August. Nvidia's 55nm GT200 is expected in September.
Nvidia's flagship GTX280 is currently available for around €350, with overclocked card selling for well over €400. ATI seems to have a good card on its hands, according to early benchmarks it beats the GTX280 with ease, although we would like to see it end up a bit cheaper. The HD4870 X2 DDR3 comes a bit later and it should sell in the same price region as the GTX280
already listed for 402,32€..
edit: dropped to 394,86€
hope the R700 won't cost THAT much :(
Wow...over $620 here in Canada at that pricing.
Even though they're usually a little higher in Europe, I'd expect them to be in the $600 range up here.
"The mighty dual GPU ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 monster was spotted today during the QuakeCon 2008 Tournament finals in Dallas. This post comes to bring to your attention that AMD/ATI has finalized the work on the card, and it will hopefully be released sometime next week after the NDA content is over. Enjoy the two pics until then."

here it comes!
"look at the size of that thing!"......(i say in a Mark Hamill voice)
Once you go BLACK, you never look back. That baby is simply pure $exxx. :D
The most exciting thing about the R700 is the potential price drops on the other cards. $250 HD4870's and $350 GTX 280's? Um, yes please!
Isn't 400€ a bit higher than expected?
No because that usually translates to ~400-450US
pretty good rule of thumb with hardware is that the price in Euros is almost a 1:1 (maybe 1:1.1 now with currenty rates) ratio with US prices due to taxes and other things
sry for ot, but god damnit... is that a soldam/windy case?... i would give a right arm and leg for such a case.... they even put my TJ09 to shame.
No, is LianLi armoursuit custom Crossfire edition. Spider window gives it away.

Isn't 400€ a bit higher than expected?
but they may aswell milk it for what it's worth. it is the fastest thing around after all. depends how many they want to sell in the end.
the 400€ includes 20% vat, so the price in the usa will be ~ 500$ ;)
Oh god i would kill for a picture with Ati gurl :bravo:
here in PT Powercolor HD4870X2 = 450€ ,available next week
regards
€ = $ in hardware prices, at least most of the time...
we pay a big premium just like the UK guys do (well not as much)
