Don't worry i only ran it there for 1 minute, it saved me from resetting it as it restarted itself. I'm happy with 3.2ghz. Just need to get my RAM up to 1600mhz now. Any ideas?

Thanks for the info on that mate, I don't opn cpu-z and other monitoring software at the same time. I found that Electromigration was causing it. i.e. when vcore is set above 1.5v it causes PC Probe II to behave wierdly. Since I can't run 3.6 with safe voltages, I'm staying at 3.2ghz. Testing out these ram settings now.
By the way, has anyone else had this issue I had of after a failed overclock, the mobo would "ignore" your OS boot hard drive?

thank you for your help. I tried to use the settings you recommended using the 9x settings but i couldn't get past the windows sign it always freezes before i see the desktop. i tried vcore between 1.3 and 1.45. what should i do?
Use the most stable settings, as in 8x settings, P1 & P2 auto. It usually crashes if the CPU is unstable, freezing means its either ram or mainboard. Have you ever checked your ram with memtest?
Make sure you got the right settings, start with 1.46 NB for now.
cibic i think its best if i set the volts back to the older setting which did run blend and gpu stable and from there on try and fix the mem problem

i tried with the 8x settings too, but i can never boot properly. when i set all the settings to auto it works properly but freezes randomly. when i use the settings you written i can't boot properly. i tried memtest86 using a cd. it starts but reboots the pc after 30seconds. do i have a memory problem?
You can't achieve stability by going lower. The thing is you shouldn't run prime95 blend and gpu caps viewer together until your cpu, ram, mainboard is stable first or it degrades the torture of memory and cpu. if u get failing cores again, do this:
Increase vCore so on load it drops to 1.225, you can use LoadLine Calibration if you wish (so your voltage won't go over 1.23) and reduce VTT to 1.22.
At this point if you still get failing cores then there's something else that's unstable. Test memory with either memtest86+ for dos or windows (preferred), let it run for 6-8 loops or 200%.
By the way, you could be very close to stable once you eliminate failing core issue.
Sounds like it gets less voltage somewhere. Probably vCore.
For starts you can let me know what msg do you see on LCD poster, or where it usually restarts/freezes.
Print or write down the voltages I gave you, then set everything on auto and compare values in voltage monitor and let me know if there's something lower.
Note to all people using prime95 blend and gpu caps viewer to find NB voltage: If you found the appropriate voltage and you have P1 & P2 to Enabled then set vNB a notch higher for utmost stability.

I set the settings you written for 8x and checked the voltages on voltage monitor in the bios and saw these differences and noted them for you. you asked where it froze. It freezes the moment you see the windows vista sign before you see the desktop. So i can't see the desktop.

these are the settings for 10x stock settings using all auto voltages. i only set memory manually in order to get 1.8 stable. other settings are set auto and i read them again in voltage monitor in bios.

That's odd. Try my settings again with 1.76 Memory voltage and 1.44 NB, PLL 1.52, VTT 1.28 with Enhanced Intel SpeedStep(tm) Tech. = Disabled this time.
Also check if memory timings are correct.

i did what you said. Memory timings are just like what you said. I used the settings you told me and tried vcore between 1.3-1.4 but it was never stable enough to see the desktop. it froze just before you see the desktop.
It could be something overheating - explains why voltage increment leads to freezing. Check your temps (from temperature monitor in bios) asap after a freezing. While watching NB, SB temps (should be under 60 Celsius) touch with the back of your hand skin your ram sticks and try to keep it there for 8-10 seconds.
You can try every voltage on auto, since it boots, but with 1.76 or 1.78 vDimm and test memory for 10-12 loops (memtest86+) or 200% (memtest for windows, prefered).
Yes I have with an unstable OC. Nvidia Sata Controller is prone to data corruption with improper setting. Normally resetting to stable clocks in bios will resolve the issue but I have completely hosed the windows installation when overclocking and testing in windows. An alternative to avoid data corruption is to test not in windows. Try UBCD v5.0b12 iso boot to it and run Prime95 and memtest from it. Once stable then boot to windows and test again beware slight voltage increases may be needed for windows depending on how you tweaked your voltages. If you are an "Auto" man get away from it and hard set things in bios.

i tried memtest86+ few times but it always froze during the 50% of the first loop. i checked the temperatures and they were below 60. (i watercool the northbridge,cpu and RAM) i could not check the RAM temperature because of the water block. it is a Koolance block so i don't think the Ram are overheating. If you think i have a problem with the RAM i am thinking of buying OCZ3N1800SR4GK . they are 150$ in Amazon and they are SLI Ready. do you think they would work stable on this board?

owcraftsman are those your settings, or a suggestion to someone? Bit confusing I might say, I guess its running OCZ DDR3 2000? Anyhow, I have some improvements in mind if you want to hear them.
They are settings I've used but I'm more interested in what ozgunkara is using in order to assist.
