There is no way you can't seat them well.
They were memtested and run windows flawlessly
idem with the cpus, you can't go wrong there.
I bet that the problem comes either from the second cpu slot (1%) or from the power connectors (99%), but there is no way to fix that. I think that the board was already malfunctionning when the other guy sold it to me on ebay.
As an AtX case ges a little cramped with this board in, It is quite difficult to make sure the 24 pins and 8 pins connectors are rightly set. Yet this would not damage the board...
And even with connectors just a tiny tiny little bit loose, a motherboard should boot. Yet, this one would light on but not boot with 2 cpus (and it would with 1).
After I noticed that by just changing the angle of a psu cable, it would power off, I made extra sure that all connectors were not loose...and I made lots of tests in and outside the case (in case of short circuits) but it didn't change anything...I bet there is a loose solder connection somewhere...
Anyway, as I want a rock solid (stab my heart asus) computer, even if I by pure luck I managed to repair the power connector, it would't really be satisfying : there would still be a risk of it doing it again.
(and what's the point of havin ECC FBDimm that resist cosmic rays if you use a motherboard that can go into limbo anytime someone uses a vaccum cleaner nearby)
