Stick it to 'em guys! You deserve that spot more than they do.
Well, I finally got the new quad together. The Asus Arctic Square was a shade too tall to put the case cover back on, but it's on a high shelf and probably gets better ventilation anyway.
I tried about a dozen times to install - 1. kubuntu em64t, 2. ubuntu em64t 3. ubuntu x86 - all ver. 7.10. In each case, towards the end of the install i would get some artifacts on the screen (lines of hash marked rectangles), then I would see a blank desktop for about a second and then the display reported "no signal". So finally I had to abandon installing it and go back to XP. Maybe I'll give version hardy heron (???) a try.
Anyway, it is now crunching. Mildly overclocked to about 2.9ghz. Will let it settle in for a few day and get it up to at least 3.4. Until then, might add about 12-13k pts to the totals. However got the other quad up to 3.6ghz so that will help too. It's a little strange because that one had been at 60c degrees running at 3.4ghz, but I guess the paste must have settled in or something since I was able to bumpt it another .2 with no prob - just raised vcore (1.3????).
Noticed your comment highlighted above..A little thing that sometimes gets overlooked but what is the air temp "on that high shelf"?
In a room with 8ft ceilings there can easily be 30F difference between waist high and at the 7ft height..
Just an example: I had the WC clover sitting on top of the air cooled one.
Moved it down just 2 ft onto the table and temps dropped 4C..
I don't like them on the floor as they become dust magnets..
I have a thermometer on the shelf and its about 78F. There's also a fan on the next shelf up - mainly for the 2 DVR's. I had planned to put it about 4 feet lower, but can't do that with the cats around and an open case. Plus I've got 2 120mm Scythe fans in the case.
Hey - did you ever find your friend's cat?
ok, sounds good..Yes, seen the cat twice in 5 days so she's here..
Smoothed out her food in the dish to see if she was still around at first..
Next morning I could see she'd eaten.
Still clueless as to where she's hiding during the day but screw it, she's here and safe, thats all I care about..:D
Very sly - happy to hear that.
All my quads are back online :)
Looks like we got beat today. :(

Heh! Sure enough. By only 5971 points. That is one Core 2 Duo...
Guess I better get busy and put that C2D back together.
I guess with the time change the new time for stats is 5 PM?
Easynews........ 4,148,657
XtremeSystems 4,142,686 :(
Hey Dave, how many points are WUs worth on a Clover rig?
After I saw that miniscule point differential it caused me to check that rig and see if it was holding out on me. It was...

Hmmm. I checked the rest of 'em ( 'cept for the ones, out front here, that I always check first thing when I get home ).
On my old main machine "Zippy", I found these sitting there, ready to report...

And I found a few others, maybe six of 'em, with 2 to 4 WUs ready to report.
OK, my bad. But I was just too damned lazy after working my day off to go around and check all the friggin' rigs. I usually check that Clover rig, though... if I go back that way.
That old line:" Rome wasn't built in a day" holds true for great teams also.
There are ups and downs but the trend here is much better than anyone could have expected a year ago.
We have 265 guys competing with the biggest BBS in Japan with 20 times our numbers, yes, almost 20 times and the same is true for Easynews and we're matching one and more than 1/2 of the other.
If we never catch either we've still made a hell of an accomplishment considering the amount of people we have.
Of course, that "ain't gonna happen".
There will be a day that we surpass Team2ch and then go on to pass Easynews in the totals..
It will happen my friend.
I don't think it, I know it.
It was my fault, i did not come back on time :(
