I can't wait to see the full suite of benchies people will run on Barcelona so I can finally grab a quad, whether AMD or Intel:D

Clearly the above is fake, just doing it to show you how wary you should be of benchmarks these next couple of days.
My comment was solely dealing with the credibility of Gary Key, nothing else. He was a long time bencher here on XS and was offered a job over at Anand. The man is fully credible.
Personally I don't care if Phenom/Barcelona is a Core2duo destroyer or not, as long as it is decently competitive, and overclocks well. I am plainly a Amd fan but not a fanboy, and will choose their products over Intel's 90% of the time. I'm glad only server chips are out in September, allows time to ramp up the clocks for Phenom. I've stated in posts some time ago that Amd had serious issues with k10 process, and I'm hopeful these will be ironed out for the Phenom launch late 07/early 08...

But if this particular CPU also performs good in any other app, then there is no such strong relation Super Pi <-> games, but that this CPU is good at any kind of code.
Super Pi uses x87 code, depends on memory acesses (so a good cache + memory prefetchers will help) and has many loops, where Conroe's macro op fusion helps a lot.
if 13s @ 2.0 ghz is true (doubt it, hope so though), i'd rather see 2M/4M to be the norm. 1M would be the new 128k. click done.
SP33DFR34K, where did you find those images?
dave_graham, is it true that AMD's NDA include ritual suicide ? :D
no ritual suicide.

Of course, even as much as I am rooting AMD for their next gen processors, there is no way they can pull that kind of time with 2Ghz because from what I have experience, AMD generally doesn't do so well with SuperPi. So something that beats a 4Ghz Core 2 Duo plus the performance drop of using an AMD processor for Super Pi boggles the mind.
Common sense + Logic these next couple of days please :)
