Does anyone use the Orthos_Stress_Cpu w/ Gromacs Core feature to determine overclock stability? I can use considerably less voltage to be 3d stable and Gromacs core stable.
I only Game,Surf and do large rar file unpacking. I would like to see how many of you use different methods to determine stability.. i think prime and orthos small fft stressing is excessive.
Your opinions?
@Nilos,

Setting CPU Margin Enhancement to Performance on Ket's 1406 BIOS for the P5Q-Deluxe seems to have fixed some instability issues for me. May try for higher later, or a lower vCore. Yeah, higher sounds good.
wow 3 beautiful 4500mhz OC's on this page. 1.344v, 1.304v, and 1.328v
So heres my little run:
E8500
LanParty JR
Crucial Ballistix Tracers 8500 series
Water cooling setup with bad contact
pretty impressive memspeed

... and two great 4700mhz OC's :)
Guys OC your 4.5Ghz E0s more.. 1.3-1.35V is low for a 24/7 :D Lets see what you can get on 1.37V :)
nice man would love to have yours mine do 4250 500 fsb at 1.440 C0 stepping

I got an E8400 EO, but I think it was a lemon. It would continually crash my system when benching and was not stable at 4.25 GHz with 1.37v load (1.4v set in bios). I have had 5 different E8400/E3110 and used the similar setup procedures and that one was a dud.
But subsequently I bought a used computer (AOpen) that had a Xeon E3110 in it (with a P5K-VM, 2G Ballistix 8500 & OCZ 500w for $250). Turns out this Xeon is a Golden Chip compared to the other Wolfdale's I had. It has a 1.225v max. VID.
I put the Xeon in my main P5K-Deluxe rig, and have it running at 4.25 GHz at 1.34v, which is way better than my other chips at similar voltages. I got up to 545FSB @ 8.5 multi (while running 4 x 1G sticks of Ballistix 8500). None of the other processors including the EO, could not go higher than 513 FSB, even with higher voltages.
The downside of this Xeon C0 is it runs very hot, reaching 72C while benching. On the other hand my dud E0 got only to 58C full load...until it crashed.
My bios settings are: cpu 1.375v; ram 2.0v; VTT 1.2v; PLL 1.5v; NB 1.25v; SB 1.05v. Transaction Boost Level "2", everything else pretty much Auto.
I only had time for minimal testing so far, but will see what it can really do this weekend.
:up:nice job lucky you some have better voltage with E0 but 1.480 for 4.65ghz really good mine need in range of 1.58 to boot at 4770mhz far from be a good chip lol but its la vie les amies
anyone have an E8400 batch Q830A179? how well they clock? I can buy one and at a good price too ... waiting 4 u'r opinions
just got one E8400 Q832A913, orthos stable 4,2Ghz 1,36v :hammer:
