LOL there goes one more mystery! I was wondering why does the IDU freeze when i go to monitor menu...
i just installed my cpu (6600) in my bad axe rev305 and i have a few questions/remarks
1. hmm...i can't seem to find the speaker connector....it seems it doesn't have one....not that i cared that much but i was a bit puzzled at first
2. it came with bios 1304 and the cpu is correctly detected. i will update the bios once i install windows, but i looked for the voltage and the burn-in options and there are none. where they added with a later bios? if i update to bios 1378 will they appear?
3. i have a microsoft curve 4000 usb keyboard. i browsed the bios around 15 minutes and it didn't lock up, so i guess it's not the usb keyboard locking the bios with these rev305 boards (dunno about rev304 though).
4. i.m planning to oc to 3GHz on stock vcore (i have stock cooling for now), so besides increasing vmch and vfsb are there any tweaks i should be aware of? (EIST is disabled, VD is disabled)
5. i have 2GB corsair 5400C4. they are rated 4/4/4/12 but in bios i can adjust only 4/4/4/15. weird, maybe the bios update will let me adjust it properly. about the vdimm, does anyone know what should i choose? i've set 1.9V for now.
other than that, no problems whatsoever. it worked flawlessly right from the start.
thanks
PS i'lll post an update once i install OS
the Intel Desktop Utility still won't install in Windows XP x64 :slapass:
@ hostile
1. Not sure what you meant, sorry
2. You'll have to do the OC Debug mod with some conductive ink (see first post in this thread)
3. It was mentioned somewhere in this thread, but i have also found that the bios freezes aren't really locking up, it's more like a long pause and it's mainly when i change memory dividers and i exit the bios. if i leave it for a couple more seconds it boots right up
4. none that i can think of off the top of my head
5. I've not had that problem, but i did find that the only way i could change it was to use the +/- on the numeric keypad. As for vdimm, whatever works best for your particular set of mems
The badaxe has a built in speaker on the motherboard. That is why you won't find a connection for one from your case.Quote:

adamant415, yeah, i noticed it has one after searching for a connector for a few minutes :)
Pyr0, i'll try to change from 15 to 12 using +/-. i tried by hitting enter. i hoped a selection menu would pop-up...but nothing happenned. anyway, i thought the mod was only for vcore and straps, not for the other voltages and burn-in options. if i really have to do it, i'll probably use a small wire cause i don't want to void warranty (its 3 years). i'm at work now but i'll get home in a couple of hours and post when i'm done. btw, bios is reporting 44 idle. is that ok?
thanks
I have a temperature question. In IDU my CPU temp goes up to 55 in a SECOND when i start primes and it goes up to 57. when i shut both primes down it falls back to 42 in a SECOND and then slowly drops to 37... i doubt the CPU temp can raise or fall that rapidly, should i believe in IDU's CPU temp reading, or is there a better tool to see it?

i finally managed to tweak the system and it now idles at 33C at stock frequency with intel stock heatsink. now i have a problem with the video card (BFG 7900GT OC). sometimes primary monitor shows an out of range error after entering windows, but i think this is a driver problem.
hostile, what are changes that you made to drop the temperature.
I have BadAxe 305 & E6600(no overclock), it idles around 50C and load 64/65C.
lets see....enter bios and disable EIST (from Power section), cpu fan control and system fan control (from Advanced/Boot Configuration). now, I have an Antec 1050B with 2 80mm front fans, 1 80mm side fan, a 92mm fan in the air duct over the cpu and a 120mm rear fan. All except rear fan are also Antec fans at max speed and the rear fan is Arctic Cooling. I installed IDCC and IDU. When launching IDCC the speed of the fans goes down and temp goes up, so don't do it unless you're willing to do some more tweaking. Launch IDU and check the processor temp and cpu fan speed. mine says 1986-1988 speed and 33C idle. Coretemp also shows 33C idle on first core and 30C idle on second core. Bios shows 37C cpu temp (latest bios). Also check if your heatsink is properly seated.
Now, I haven't done the OC debug mod since I only want almost 3GHz and I hope I'll get there on stock vcore. After I updated to the latest bios (from 1304 to 1378) vmch, vfsb, 50% bunin and pci/pcie freq are available in bios. I think I can do 3GHz with these, but I haven't tested yet (lots of work and no time to mess with settings).
rk1974, before tweaking these settings I had 43-44C idle in bios, so i guess you must reseat the cpu. 50C idle is a lot.
barboinet can u boot at w/e u set in there??
sorry but i don't understand :(Quote:

i meant when u use systool to overclock, does it boot at that speed??
for ex: u use systool to overclock ur cpu to 4GHz, can u boot at 4GHz?? even after reboot, ur cpu's clock speed is what u set in systool?? or do u have to overclock again every time u reboot??
Ok guys i had a problem with my damn corsair ram, it is running at 333mhz instead of 667, i tried to change the setting in the bios to the timings specified for this ram from the default 5-5-5-15 to 4-4-4-12 and the voltage to 1.9 as Hostile suggested to me, but it still running at 333mhz any suggestions?

333 is the real speed of your memory, double it to get the DDR rating ;)
333MHz=DDR666 (DDR667)
the RAM frequency CPU Z report is DRAM frequency, its DRAM 333Mhz, but its rated at DDR2 667 (the marketing number)
DDR2 = DRAM x 2 , so 333 x 2 = 666 which is about 667
And I display my infinite noobness yet again :slap:Quote:

i'm at 3.0GHz at stock Vcore. i only raised vmch to 1.52V and vfsb to 1.27. burn is 25%, ram at 800 so i got 3.0GHz CPU and 1GHz RAMQuote:

Using the methods described in image #3 of the first post I had no problems enabling the options in bios on my rev. 304 board. I now have a rev.305 using a 6600 es and cannot get the options to appear. Is there something that needs to be done differently using the rev. 305 board. I'm currently using the 1378 bios and can't go back to far with bios because I'm using a 7950gx2. Thanks.lll Nevermind, got it. Must have had bad contact.
guys is badaxe temp report accurate?? i use PC wizard n got to 70c!!! during full load
I am having some weird issues with my XBX...
I finally got all my stuff together and my loop is rockin allong, but whenever I go to my 1333 strap and try to boot past 30% it clocks back to 2.62Ghz (sometimes to 2.92Ghz).
I know that the IDT clock generator only allows 30% ocing in bios, but I have the ICS chip. I know that my FSB is good to around 450 because I can use systool to well past 3.5Ghz.
Even then 3.4 feels pretty good with my RAM 1:1. Still having probs tightening my timings much past rated, even at 2.4 Vdimm.
I know that this chip has more in it, and this is the place to ask what is up with the board reclocking FSB for me. Any opinions?

......BUT, I will say that even so, 70C is pretty high. You really don't want to reach that temp with these chips.
