that could be why I can't run spi32m even with error free on memtest, I'd set everything manually :lol: will switch the mal and rp to auto and try again. :D

Edit: on top of setting those two burgers to auto, I have to drop the memclock....280 is a no go even after playing with other values on A64Tweaker, spi32m bombs out on me, now shooting for 275 and see what happen, next thing to try afterward is swapping the sticks around and see if it make any difference, haven't test them invidually yet.

Got a tweaker shot of you current settings? Which slots are you using? Actually a detailed description of all your settings/voltages would be helpful in figuring out what's holding you back.....

I just found out a weird thing that might help..
on the venus , DS/DDS setting might also effect your MAL/RP

it's just assumption. You might wanna know what kinda strength of you ram first(wek or normal), then choose "right" DS.
well, for DDS, I think you knew that already

I'm still trying to get the dang spi32m to pass @275 :D when it stopped running I'll post the tweaker screenshots along with other spec. Setting MAL/RP to auto in bios but the tweaker reports 10/7.5, DS/DSS is at 5/4 at the moment.

thanks man....not necessary max as I haven't try vdimm any higher than 2.90v, there's still some more tweak need to be done, I'm trying DS/DDS of 5/3 now and see what happen. Realistically I have a feeling this set probably will settle at around 270~275 @3-3-3 for 24/7, which isn't too bad at all, they runs very cool so definitely a keeper ;) for those who believe in burning in, maybe they'll fare better in couple days but I guess we'll see :D

OK...now I'll make some suggestions, but once again I'll have to add a disclaimer: I'm practically a 2gb virgin, so please feel free to correct me if I make an erroneous guess in terms of timings for these sticks :p:

-TRFC should be able to drop to 15 without too much/if any performance hit
-TREF = 3120 (200, 15.6u) doesn't help? I also sometimes find that (100, 1.95u ) runs more stable than (166, 1.95u) @ higher frequencies
-Maybe try to set dqs skew -> slower and use a value ~120
-Mess around with the ICL value as a cpu can be VERY particular when it comes to that setting + Spi32M

Other than those things, I'm pretty much outta ideas.....

you got such good cpu, you don't have to get 2.86 to work
try 2.7~2.75
tref try 166, 16.5mus
**keep in mind whenever you change Tref for new setting, let system sit for about a minute, then do it again.

thanks for all the great advices from you two gurus, Steven nailed it the first time about the DDS being 3 and that's what get me to passed the Spi32m this round, which is kinda strange as it threw some memtest error earlier. I'll also try Kevin's suggestion to work my vdimm down to 2.7ish and fine tune other settings. more results to come later....gotta get some sleep :lol: but for now I'm happy with these Cronus, insane bandwidth that reminds me much of the ballistix we once had :D :D

just for kicks, try with twr at 2 and twtr at 1... and don't trust memtest anymore :toast:

So much for the notion of low volts = better on these. :rolleyes:

My settings for 3-3-3-6 @266 are completely stable as BF2 crashes to desktop every few minutes...but at least I'm closer to where I want to be.

I have found BF2 to be Real Hard on ram overclocks, if your just a bit too high it would Crash to desktop all the time, that Game just really takes it out of your ram. I had to back mine down from a Stable 273 to 263 to get it too stop Crashing to desktop with my Ram, but i could Play COD2 all day @ 273.

My Cronus is currently doing 3-3-3-8 @ 275 using similar settings to OPB. I have noticed lower dds (like 1 and 2) helped making me stable, also higher VDIMM helped too.

Does anyone know what's a good LDT voltage and chipset voltage to set for the Ultra-D? Seemed like the high HTT was giving me some troubles getting 275 stable but lowering HTT mult. from 4->3 helped.

My Micron Cronus at 275 passed memtest86+, superPI 32M, OCCT, windows memtest, and some odd minutes worth of prime lol. I should probably run the tests for longer, but for now I don't know if I could take disproving 275 really is stable. :P

what are the rest of your timings.. just saying that you got 275mhz at 3-3-3-8 is quite useless to me ;)

Higher volts always helped in clocking, but in terms of longevity, it was a big no no. :nono:

Just got mine in, I am soo psyched, slapped em in and ran dual 800mb windows memtest for 100% without a hitch, going to start OC'ing tonight. I also got my Ultra-D back from RMA so I have 2 motherboards to work with, I just wish I had a better cpu (opty memory controller :P)

The rest of my timings are exactly like OPB settings for the Micron Cronus (the ones he suggests for (270-280+ operation).

ds/dds = 7/1, using orange slots (helps a lot).
The only thing is I don't know how to convert tref from A64tweaker into the numbers in the UD bios lol, so mine is just set at 3120.
Oh also the other differences are
idle cycle limit = 64 cycles
dynamic idle cycle counter = disabled

opterons aren't all that bad ;)
