I tried 1.36 (1.40 in bios) and core 0 fails after a minute or so. Temps were 50c, and i didn't want to push it any further in light of the dfi overvolting issue. 2.7@1.312 will have to do :D at least until i get an asus a8n32sli with the 8-phase power regulation.Quote:

Its gonna be the luck of the draw for results.. some 165s can oc past 170s and the 170s SHOULD oc better than the 165s. I really haven't seen great differences between oc results of these cpus. The only great numbers I've really noticed was from cooling. Thats why I'm getting a 170 and using it under phase. But as far as the 165 vs the 170, the 10x multiplier is a huge selling point if you're gonna oc.Quote:

how are you guys getting the correct readings on cpu-z? i downloaded the newest version and it still shows my chip as a 280 series ?? this is wierd cause i see some of you guys with the correct readings in cpu-z...

ok guys got my optie 180 in the mail today. just got off work and poped it in. im going to start off by seeing how high i can over clock this at its defualt v-core so here is the first attempt 230x12 1.31v 2761mhz now i need to go prime it and see if its stable... the chip is a 0530TPMW for those keeping track...
this has got to be the worse maxcase temp reading out of all my chips! sure hope its not an indacation of how this thing will oc!

Anyway this chip is looking good undervolted, I'm at 1.125 right now at 2115MHz seemingly stable. It's been priming for like 45 minutes here. The whole point of me doing this (undervolting) is to find a low vcore unstable speed for burn in, but strangely enough, even at 1.8GHz the volts can't go below 1.125 or it won't boot.. I think my mobo sucks though since it every once in a while it freezes in the BIOS, and I get the stupid flashing line in the corner sometimes at boot up.. Right now it's 235x9 (prime 45mins so far) but I got random reboots and even firefox crashed at 237x9.. WTF?

Just ran 18 minutes of prime @ 1.55v 2.75ghz on my 146 cooled by big typhoon with a 129CFM delta, IHS off chip, 34C load :D Had to restart because of x-fi drivers. Chip seems stable here. My core 0 will do 2.9ghz according to jason but core 1 flat out SUCKS, failing prime instantly at 2.8ghz 1.6v while core 0 can do 2.8ghz prime with 1.55v.
i don't use the suggested way, with the BB and all. i get a piece of plastic bag, and rub a nice thin layer over the whole top of the IHS with my finger wrapped in plastic. i then smear some into the bottum of the heatsink - very thin so you can barely know it's there. and then i proceed to put the heatsink on.Quote:

i dunno if i am the only one that does this, but i've always done it this way with cpus w/ IHS. if it were a bare core, i would do the bb method, cause it would cover the whole core. Not that i am suggesting anyone to do it my way ;)
