Is that chip farrrked ?
yeah borked or what? Looks like a pic i saw where a TEC overheated on a axp, except this is a lot more expensive.
No the chip is fine, the pics simply show what the cold makes it look like
Are you sure it's not your chip after all? Someone didn't insulate well enough, and AS5 migrated under replaced IHS? The thermal interface AMD uses is crap but it does stay in place.
You need to load the socket with Lubrex or similar and sealstring the air space on the IHS.
If it's really DOA that sucks man, that was a very fine chip.
No the chip is fine~! When I took off the evap the IHS was half on and half off the chip. One edge of it was touching the core. But it was working just fine up until I took the evap off to test my new 3200 venice. I am now using the heater so that might fix the prob. I know I am sealed up tight so I dont know why I was getting condensation. On Thursday I am heading to Vegas and I am stopping at Chilly1's to have my mach modded. So I can run my chip naked again. LOL
You are very lucky, then. And that's your best performing chip too!!! The one that's been in your siggy!!!Quote:

Well I had a bigger scare today! I was cleaning the chip up and noticed that one pin was missing off of it. So I took it over to PC Club and threw it in my friends comp and it works just fine. The funny thing is it still runs at 3ghz on air! WOOOHOOO thank GOD!!!

you got lucky man cause looking at the pic you put up last night and this one i can see you broke the pin off between last night and today. you must have gotten lucky and whacked off a ground pin otherwise i dont think it would be working still. also go buy your self some die eletric grease and put some on the socket and in the holes so when you install the cpu again you will atleast be protecting the pins from the condensation. i have a pic of "The Dudes" 64 chip that he had in his phasechange the whole bottom of it wrotted away ill try and find the pic he posted it will deff make you want to protect that cpu a little beter!
peace perc.

By the way, you are very lucky with the missing pin!!! Hope you don't break off another pin by accident because I dont think you are going to be as lucky. :nono:
looks to me like its the 11th row up from the bottom, 4th from the right. Lucky it still works mate.
EDIT
I can see it also looks like the top row one as well. Could you have missed a pin?
Ya know what I just saw that myself! Well I guess it still works with 2 missing pins. But just to make sure I ma going to stop back over to PC Club and test it again.Quote:

Its just fine! Dont know how but I must have been blessed by the OC GODS..LOL
lol or been blessed by the thing called luck
The way some of the bin bases are corroded there's a very good chance more will fall off just putting it in and out of the socket. Please do yourself a favor and load all the socket pinholes with dielectric grease next time.
yeah thats what i was saying. one good thing is he hasnt had the cpu under phasechange all that long so hopefuly he can put some die eltric grease on there and be fine... i still think he needs to make sure he is sealed up beter cause ive had chips under phase for 6months at a time and have never had corroded pins like hes getting...
peace perc,
I know I was worried but to rule that out I have played with each pin to make sure its connected and not ready to fall off. So all the others are ok! I may have just missed the second pin and just saw the first one. I also may have done this myself cuz I was cleaning the top of the cpu off and may have bent the pins that way. But i dont know really. I am just glad it still works!Quote:
