The gigabyte board held my winny back. Plus its very finicky.Quote:

hi, just got mine...
ADA3500DEP4AS
CAA2C 0507BPMW
1212764B50877
using xp90 + tornado 90mm
DFI SLI D
512x2 Hynix D43 ram
400W Acbel PSU
What?
Ok, I just got my new one from zzf. This one is a CAA2C, unlike my crappy ZC from newegg. I "think" the stepping was 050"4,6,7"FPMW. I just can't remember the week, but it is definitely FPMW. I'll check for sure later.
Anyways, I'm writing this at 2.64 ghz at stock voltage. Erm, well it's set to 1.525 in bios because my board undervolts a little. This is "essentially" stock.
stock is 1.5 to 1.55....just watch that your vdimm is solid, if you are gonna go high with it.
I just got my new one from ZZF: CAA2C 0505DPMW
hopefully the memory controller will be better on this one. I'll post results later.
Great, mine like that from zzf is doing well -- 2700 MHz now on air!Quote:

My 3500+ Winchester didn't seem to be that great of an overclocker. It topped out around 2500Mhz on my MSI Neo2. I have a DFI Ultra-D now.
the two i got from newegg/chiefvalue (same store pretty much) weren't very good...
1st one did 2.64 prime stable, 2.75 3d benchable, 2.86 superpi stable
2nd one couldn't even do 2.6 w/o 1.66+ volts so i returned it
3rd one is from zzf and is doing 2.8 with 1.66 volts
I got mine from the EGG 2.65 Super PI stable but not prime95 no matter what voltage Caazc.... :(
SO are these really "failed" FX-55's? Some obviously better than others -- I wonder if there is a way to tell?
Well i hope i get a good one from Newegg. My order is already charged so i can't cancel now. Were the ones you got from Newegg a different stepping then the one's from ZipZoomFly everyone is getting? What is the best stepping? CAA2C?Quote:

I got a Z, no benches, bur someone with similar stepping is doing 2.65 ish on air.
If you oredered Egg chances are you'll get a Z
I called Newegg and the lady said my order had already shipped about 3 hours ago but i could just refuse the delivery from FedEx and i wont be hit with the 15% restocking fee.
I'm going to go ahead and order one from ZZF as well and then i'll decide which one i'm going to keep between now and when they get here. I need to have my other CPU ready to ship by Thursday afternoon if possible.
The one from newegg was a CAAZC while the one from ZZF was CAA2CQuote:

Tell me about it. I can't use a multi less than 10 or it starts to hang on boot. POS mobo. My Neo2 should be here in a few days.Quote:

Luck of the draw, and my luck ummmmmm......
Well it rhymes with Lux ..... :(
You probably had a bad Neo2, then. I had a Neo2, but had to RMA and bought this board to cover in the meantime. I could tell within 5 mintues of using this board that my Neo2 was much better. It could be the proc, but I doubt it.
I still have it, I'm using the POS now, as my GB board is being used as an HTPC atm.
It works, just don't clock worth a damn.
Everyone's different, but I personally don't RMA things that work...
Even if they blow chunks clocking.
all the bad news on the k8ns :( It's all I got right now. I hope mine dosn't blow chunks.
