yay 156, got one meself. got the lowliest of the low, 1.6ts ugh.. though
it is fun, it could use some more oomph. and besides that, of the 4 months
that i have had it, it spent about 3 weeks in the shop being repaired. but
that is not due to the car, but due to the previous owner, who seemed
to know nothing about cars and how to handle them.
anyway, right now i'm thinking of trading it for a 156 v6 2.5. that has the
oomph necessary, and not too much either, 190hp. plus it has a few extras
that mine lacks.. hmmm will have to get mine fixed and then we'll see what
kind of offer i get for mine.
the color in your pics is nice, but i think i'd fancy black even more :D

oh btw, here's a quote taken from a top gear episode:

I would not trade my 156 2.0JTS for no other car, only for an 156 GTA(plenty of good offers on mobile.de, and even better offers in some autohaus-es and private sellers in Germany), which is definitely more fun. But the 2.0 engine is hungry enough, I can only imagine the GTA would ruin me in a matter of weeks :(
As for services, mine came with a few quirks as well, some noises due to a poorly removed hands free kit(the jack is still in the right A pillar and makes a noise), a speaker works only when it wants to and so on, but I'll get them fixed someday soon. Previous owner took great care of it, but not as good as I would have ;)

Anyway, the 1.6TS is one heck of an engine, with a few tweaks you can get more out of it. Check out the forum on alfa156.net and you'll see what I mean.

well the 1.6ts is an okish engine i'd say, got to 190 fairly easy, though i'm told
that the high rpm stuff is not something to be done with a ts engine, for they
somehow lack in the cooling department.
for what it's worth, the water temperature has never really been above the 90°
mark, but then i'm told that the water isn't the issue, but rather the oil that is
not getting properly cooled - which made a few people add an additional oil-
cooler to their cooling circuit. doh

anyway, the issues with mine were that after about 1000km in my posession it
started stuttering. that happened out of blue air. like i was driving home from
a friend, turned a corner and it wouldn't really do what the my foot was ordering
... so i was thinking maybe it's that air-measuring thingy. turns out it wasn't.
one of the 8 sparkplugs (twinspark hooray) was wet and corroded. so as they
were about due anyway, we replaced all 8 of them. PLATINUM sparkies.. wtf
and they cost what the name suggest, big bucks.
anyway, that fixed i could do another 800km until the clutch didn't really want
to work anymore... i had issues selecting a few gears. went straight to the
shop and they replaced one part of the clutch system, some pressure cylinder
or something (don't know the english terminology on that one) and readjusted
the clutch somewhat. next stop, about another several hundred km later, the
same story again, just that the 2nd gear wouldn't engage at all. you would
select it, release the clutch and the lever would move into neutral.. wtf

ok end of story, a few cogs in the gearbox have been replaced, so was the
clutch. sidenote. this car hasn't even completed 100.000 km yet! (97k more
like it). still, i like it.
the thing is, when it breaks down, i would love someone to total it or some-
thing, but then, when i walk towards it, as happened during the time when
the 2nd gear wouldn't work and i had to rev the first fairly high, then select
3rd and hope i get away with about 2000rpm ;), i would think. damn that's
a beautiful car - and it's mine.. then you would sit in it and have to make do
without the second gear it was the waaaaaaaaaaaaarrrghhhh sensation again

so we'll see. i'm not going to mod this one. i'll try and get the silver 2.5 v6
instead - and hope it will be less of a hassle :) add an extra insurance to
cover for the next 2 years of potential hassles and costs with the dealer,
though hehe..

still.. the sound.. oh and the 3-spoke steering wheel.. that's what always
gets me hehe

The 2.5 V6 is an older engine with quite a few problems of it's own.
Check out the forum on www.alfa156.net and maybe you'll find solutions to some of your problems. I know I found solutions there for the problems I didn;t even have yet :)

i have not yet registered there, but have been looking around the site, seems
nice enough. so far i have been on alfisti.net, a german site. if you have any
particular links to threads about the 2.5 v6 engine and its problem, please feel
free to send me a private message with the links.
so far i only found a few about cutouts...

oh the v6 is one beautiful engine, even if older. come on, chromed intake mani-
folds, need i say more? :D... that engine is a beauty to behold and the sound
will do the rest. even unmodified.

Yeap, the Alfa V6 is a piece of art, and it sounds like no other.
I do not know much about the 2.5 V6 problems, but I've heard a few people complaining about fuel consumption and a few other things. I didn't research the matter though, I researched the 2.0 engines though and the 3.2 V6 because these were the engines I was interested in.
If I find out more about the 2.5 V6 I'll drop you a PM.

My parents drive a Volvo V70 T5 AWD 250bHP which is a comfy car, and also goes for it considering its size and weight, I will be able to drive in about 5 months, and I currently don't know what car I will drive, as the car taht my sister used is a Nissan Micra, and I don't fit in it, becuase of my feet :(, so I have to now look for a car that I can fit in!

I must say, they REALLY took that Civic and turned things around. They used to just be daily beaters with good mileage, but the looks of that thing (and the interior) are pretty neat IMO.

IanY, it performs decent ;)

It of course has traction problems but the suspension is getting an overhaul in the spring, and I will go with a different tire when these Nitto NT555R's are worn out. I'll have more updates on that when the time comes, I don't want to go into details before I've even done anything.
