Fair enough, might take a step back til these bugs are fixed, whats the general consensus , can this be fixed via a BIOS update or is a more direct motherboard revision required? I take it these problems havent been detected with the Aopen boards,altho I suppose they cannot reach these speeds anyhow :(
Hmm, I did the v.mod as linked (cheers!) but I haven't been able to push much past what I could before. I'm using an ATI 9800XT. I'll throw in a GeForce....

Mounting bracket yes. P4 heatsink no. No because the dothan core is some 2mm lower than the top of a P4 heatspreader. So you can indeed put a P4 heatsink there but its possible that it wont make good contact with the dothan core.Quote:

Yeah, so you need a P4 HS/F that uses spring clips like the Zalman or even the Hyper6.... the ones that use levers and such won't hold well. You could even bend the clips a bit to exert more pressure :DQuote:

Can I ask you guys a couple of questions?
I have bought a Aopen 855 GME board, with a Pentium-M CPU, and I'm having trouble getting it working.
First thing, I have installed the CPU onto the motherboard, following the instruction in the manual. Turn screw anti-clockwise, insert CPU, turn screw clockwise...is there any way the CPU can be seated incorrectly?
I installed the HS, connected the CPU fan and system board fan, plugged 2 sticks of 512MB RAM (2700).
Plugged in the two power connectors, KB, mouse and monitor.
Switched it on. The Stby-LED does not come on, nor does the bios LED. There's a third LED on the board, 'LED2' stays lit up.
When I power up, the KB's LED flash once, but I get no signal going to the monitor.
Any idea? Is my motherboard faulty?

Guys...need a confirmation on this vcore modd on the Aopen board...if anyone done it here..?!?!
Does the resistor in the modd need to be removed or is it ok to just solder the cable next to it...?!?!?
If I´m not mistaken...it sure loks like KYOSEN has removed the resistor completly.

I have done the Vid4 modd already...but my board is acting weird....everytime I reboot, either after saving in bios or "rebooting" from windows my system halst upon reboot and I get a series of beeps.
I then have to shut down my system completly and then turn it on again.
Other than that the modd works perfectly...!!
I tried to redo the viretrick but it´s still the same...very anoying. :( :(

what is the SSE2 patch and what does it do? where can i get it? looking to give my m755 laptop a run for its money and see if it can't go any faster

I understand that if I buy 1.7 GHz Centrino, the usefull overclock would be not more than 140 FSB on both boards. Because of AGP. 17x140 gives me only2380MHz!!!
As I understood on both boards lock PCI/AGP doesn`t work over 140 FSB. Is it save in using for 24/7??

To your question werther it is safe to run the agp "overclocked" for 24/7...I would say YES it is...aslong as it can take it...you have to look for the signs when running 3D... i.e small laggs, stuttering and/or other misscalculations. Aslong as your 3D runs fine and smooth I don´t see any problem.
Generally speaking, nvidia cards will take higher agp clocks than ATI cards....atleas on previous ones. I´m not sure how the 66xx / 68xx series is responding to agp clocks.
Mabye someone else care to answer the question...as I´m curious about that my self...!?!?!?

I have one more question. Which memory should I use??? Now I have Hynix d-43 DDR2x256 should I change them for a good overclocking?
I will certainly do mods... SO how high FSB can I expect with A-open board? Has anyone checked how important timings are? The best dividers I`ll find in the tests of course ...
