I'll try and test again later. I have to run out and do some chores.
By the way, I ordered some 3700EB. I want to see if I can get better FSB.

512meg sticks? and if so from where?:slobber:
No, 2X256MB. But I heard OCZ is ramping up production again on EB, so the 512's should be available again in the near future.
ah. im holding out for 512 meg sticks so they better hurry up.
Let us know how they do. Im really look'n forward to see'n some some 250x10 1:1 with at least 2.5-3-2-5-7-16 timing 3dmark01se lobby runs. 345+fps lobby low and 160fps+lobby high at only 2.5ghz with DS sticks would be a sight to see if it goes that high. 233x11 1:1 2-3-2-5-7-16 gets 329 low 150 high with SS sticks
Well, despite the lack of mods and using a POS 9800np. I'd have to say this combo is pretty fast. 25.1k at 460/320 just about matches the score I got on a p4c at 3.98 and an 9800xt at 540/435. Just getting board waiting to find an X800XT in stock

XS Mod CHARLIE!!
reporting for duty...........
initial notes: runs warm....39C idle with Swiftech/Tornado
proceeding to install WinServer2K3.........considering I have no Video Card to bench with, I'm going straight to number crunching benchies :D
1005.021 flashed.... using AsusUpdate Utility.

Very nice!!!Quote:

My replacement FX53 just arrived and FX53/A8V stability is dramatically improved. I don't know if that's due to the 1005.021 bios or the processor change. I'm still in the process of determining the maximum stable processor frequency (currently air cooled). Ram is 1gb Corsair XMS3500C2.
I hear the BIOS is much better. Could be the processor, or that it's just seated better.:)Quote:

OK.....
first strange buggy thing is that when I have mem set to 2:1 (DDr400) cpu-z says I'm at 170Hz??

On HTT and memory or just memory?Quote:

You're vmods working ok?
Seems to have a bit of OC headroom though.....1.6v ambient 27C.
Anyone know why 2:1 divider is giving me like 5:3 or something???
YOu know I remember some kind of similar thing on the SK8N.... but can't remember the solution ;)
Well, I can't seem to figure the dividers out.... I have set MEMCLK to LIMIT and then 2:1 (DDR400)
Still don't get 2:1 in reality :(
Hopefully some of you A8V veterans have some answers for me...
BTW, was anyone asking about functioning locks :D
...unfortunately my BH-5 is only good to 235ish on 2.8V, playing earlier I actually got it up to 302HTT with 8X multi... but real instable!
OH! and does anyone else's A8V turn itself on when you flip the PSU switch?
Doing great charlie, I'm not sure why you're getting that. 2:1 works for me the way it should.
suggestions?
or here?
Your bios looks different than mine charlie. Mine has an option to select 2t at the bottom of the memory configuration. Everything else is the same and that's how I selected 2:1
oh, I HAVE the 2T command, you just have to scroll to see it :D

Gotcha. Maybe try reflashing the bios. I've noticed on my other asus boards that using alt-f2 or the ez-flash sometimes screwed things up.
Charlie, you might try lowering TRAS. I found that setting it at 11 didn't help. High TRAS seems to be more of an Athlon XP thing.
This brings up a question I've been intending to ask, what's the optimum Tras for this board, 2-2-2-?. Wesley Fink in his recent article at Anandtech said he found best performance at Tras=10. Guess I need to run some tests.Quote:

On another note, the lock on my A8V seems to work great. The board serial number ends with J2872, which falls in the range that's supposed to work ok. I'm currently in the process of seeing how high I can push my 1gb of xms3500c2 at 2.8v. Update: 219mhz is max at Trcd=2. I have to change to 3 to go higher. A bit more Vdimm would be nice, I always ran it at 2.9-3.0V on my P4C800E.
You might try clearing the BIOS to failsafe defaults before you start tweaking just to make sure you don't have a wrong value somewhere. I've had some funky settings coming with supposedly new motherboards. It's always good to start with failsafe values for max stability, then change only the settings you need to.
No luck......
I reflashed the BIOS and reset CMOS.... even first time it fired up (default) the memory was running at 160 (5:4) Strange. Eben tried different sticks, no luck.

That is weird Master Yoda, have you tried selecting 5/3 or other dividers and see what happens.
Edit: another possiblity is that your copy of the bios is corrupt in some way. Maybe download it again or try the .20 bios
think it may be possible that the mobo "see's" my sticks as PC2700 (KHX3000) and won't run 1:1???????????????????
