No it doesn't, the bottom is partial obscured but not enough for you to misread it this badly.
It's the same process node as Titan, on 20nm you can have these dreams, until then you don't have to buy it, you can wait for another six months.
It will take much to reach? Maxwell is already the doors ...
^^
that's right, Maxwell is already talk... so on Maxwell, what's already there?
wow that press event was kinda off the wall lol
no price of specifics on the r9-290x? fail
So no pre-orders until Oct. 3rd??? Where do you pre-order from.
So many more questions why so little answers?
Any hands on demos of it running?
When is release date?
I'm beginning to think we can't get one until mid-Oct....which really sucks because i've been using my IGPU for 2-months now waiting for this thing. And I really thought $500 would be the price, whoever said $599 where did you get your info? That don't sound right as they already said "replacing current price points"...which would imply the 290 card is taking the $450~$550 price point since the 280 (i.e. 7970) is taking over the $300 price point and they have a 7990 at the $600 price point. No way are they pulling an Nvidia and selling a single GPU at the same price as the monster dual GPU. There is no way it cost that much to manufacture, and AMD doesn't charge ridiculous prices because they think they run the game (cough..um...Nvidia).
And give me the option to buy one with a full cover water block or sell a naked one at a discount...please, I hate having all these fans and heat-sinks going un-used. EVGA does it.
You price your products on what you think the market can take, while taking supply/demand into consideration.
There are at least 2, if not 3, SKUs above the R9 280x while not counting a potential dual GPU.
If they price R9 280x at $299 then 290(~GTX780) at $399-$449 and 290x(~Titan) at anywhere from $549-$649 (though probably not higher than $599).
Why did you think they were coming before mid-Oct? If press gets cards today, they usually have a week or two to do reviews...
Pre-NDA for reviews ends third week of october, but exact date was not set at this moment. Will be announced in few days.
What is a "pre-NDA"?
its your 3D Mark number of real performance in gaming?:) No...superpi/pcmark is not performance of CPU and 3D Mark the same for GPU...It could be only aprox. +-15% of real performance. Its clear HD 7970 GHz is average the same as GTX 770 and logical thinking give me 290x cant be the same level :).
So from what I've seen it seems the 280x, and 280 is just the 7970, and 7950.
If that's the case I might just grab a 7950 for my system on the cheap. Then again I'll wait a week so see what the story is with the 290X
Programmable Audio seems nice - but I wonder how many games before next gen chips (and Nvidia's adoption) will support it.
