You know I haven't seen any retailers that carry them although there is tons of online articles saying "ocz launches 4gb pc2-6400 kits" - it's all over the place. I will let you know if I find one.Quote:

I tried all night to silence that pwm but it's still chattering away.. I guess I either have to live with this or go with another board.. it's really kind of annoying to hear a noteable "hisssssssss" above all your fans and eveything while late night computing.. I think this board's days are numbered for me.. oh well.
ok! it may sound stupid, but could the sound be coming from the psu or the tuniq? have u tried combis?Quote:

One of my 8800GTX's made a similar sound, and its annoying cos its omnidirectional, so hard to place. I had it running on my FSP-Epsilon 700w GLN, which is a pretty decent PSU, but switched it to an Enermax Noisetaker 600watt, and the noise disapeared. Now ive got my Enermax Galaxy 1kw, and again... no noise. It only did it with my FSP, so it might be worth trying another PSU if you can, before giving up completely.Quote:

Anywaysm, I tested last night, moving the whole mobo on the try into an isolated area away from the psu... well, enough to tell the psu is no emitting the sound.. the sound is coming from the pwm area alright.. I can get it to change pitch by pushing on the pwm pulse chip.. but it doesn't silence the sound.. I touched /everything/ in the area and sinched down any loose things, nothing changed the sound except when I put a little pressure on the pulse chip.. now, this does not discount the possibility that the psu is causing this.. perhasps there is excess noise on the 12v cpu power line? I tried running with just the one 4pin cpu power plug and the machine actually ran, but it still made the noise... is there a way to effectively gound the psu maybe?
well, while doing normal computing the noise is audible above all my fans, and goes up and down in pictch depending on what I am doing.. so I can't even tune it out.. because it's changing all the time.. gah! very frustrating..
edit: AHHHHHH! I think we got it.. I got the old model DXX without the dedicated 8pin EPS power plug... the one I have only has 4+4 pin.. the guy at enermax is going to ship me the new model for free.. well, I have to send him mine.. but we're both in cali, so should only be a couple days.. sweet! he thinks the psu should quiet things up.. their dedicated 8pin plug has new circuitry the 4+4 pin does not. I bet that's it.
Technically speaking there could be an ac (switching leak) ripple on the 12v dc line that feeds the pwm. this could be filtered out on another board with a different power circuit topology like the p5w dh...
that ripple (or a subharmonic of the ripples frequency) could modulate that sound on the inductor chip.
i would suggest you try with a spare psu..
you can actually measure if there's an ac component on your 12v dc rail with a good quality multimeter.
just put the dial to ac and measure the rail. there should be no ac reading.
Hi - I just sold off my other psu thinking this psu had made it a couple of weeks and thought I didn't need it.. silly me. BUT, enermax is going to send me a newer version of my psu with a dedicated 8pin cpu power lead... the one I have now only has 4+4pin and he said the new one's 8pin power lead has new circuitry specifically for that power lead.. or something like that.. so I am going to do that.. they're in LA and I am in SF so it should only be a couple days downtime.. I'll ship it out Monday so I have my pc to play with this weekend. :)
edit: I bet what you're describing is it tho.. sounds very spot on. I am thinking they new about this and made the new version with a cleaner power feed on that 8pin power lead.. less ripple, same great 12v taste. ;) I really appreciate your input on my problem here! thanks for that..
I would suggest trying another PSU as well. Clean power makes a huge difference. Dirty power can cause things like this and is very common in the audio industry. With high end audio equipment you can easily tell the difference between a line conditioner that cleans up the power to just plugging in the unit to the wall.
I hope that eliminates your noise problem!
Rev, i had 2 X1900's on a P5W-DH no problem, with no noise using my FSP until I got the 8800... it was definately the PSU that was the problem. Hope it works out for you too...Quote:

btw, how did you make your quad run @ 3.6g stable?
mine did hit 3.6 in windows for once...
now 3.4 stable (raid-quad sli) until they give us the freaking bios
did you play with the cellshocks?
cheers!!
3.6GHz for this QUAD is EASY......:DQuote:

Yes I played a bit with the CellShocks and they did about 463MHz at 1:1 with Cas 3-3-3-5 and 1T....They're doing pretty well up to now.....Though I didn't test them "hard" for the time been....;)
Official Bios 1 is FASTER than any beta for the time been as for the ram speed....Not for their max frequency but for their speed (perhaps it might have less latencies);)
hahaha...!! don't know... maybe mine feels uncomfortable with the abit mobo...Maybe we need some time together...Quote:

weird... maybe more routines in the betas???? do you think it could have anything to do with the spp and mcp (pci-e) handling??Quote:

anyone can help me ? i cannot got above 365 FSB :(
my e6600 can do easily 4GHz on my w64 Pro. Cooled with water chiller.
With an multi of 6 i can go above 400.
My board wont oc as i want, tried for 2 weeks now all settings but no chance. I use beta 02. NB is cooled with an 120er Fan. Ram is OCZ FlexXCL 9200.
How do you guys get such an high fsb. I saw guys with 480 and above here.
few pages back you'll find some pretty cool 500+ fsb's with 6600's..Quote:

The board is far from stable for day-to-day use.
And yes Abit Beta 4 would be realy nice !
Hello,gentlmens!
Somebody use Corsair twin2x2048-6400c4 with this MoBo???
thank's!
I have used the Twin2X2048 PC6400C4 Dominator briefly and it works just fine.Quote:

What do you think of it?
Check your ICs here and tell me what you have:

@yellowbeard: So far, those Dominator modules are working pretty sweet right now. I got the system running finally, as of last night, and am going to test it thoroughly this weekend. Likewise, I am also using all 4 modules (4 gig total) in dual channel setup. :D
*Edit*
Unfortunately, though, I got the 6400C4D rev 2.1, which is Promos :(
