There is a latest bios 2395 in the intel website. There are a lot of fixes on this version.
The bad axe 2 is a great MB
how does it compare to the P5W64 pro? :)Quote:

Broke the Bank! Just purchased a whole new rig yesterday with the BadAxe2 and E6600 as the soul of the beast. The only thing I did not buy is memory. I need to purchase TODAY so that I can test everything out as it magically appears at my doorstep...
Can any recommend a good memory for NO overclocking. It's for a silent HTPC and 95% of use will be for recording. However, some games, apps, and Internet.
What is the best, fastest, most stable memory out there that is compatible with the BadAxe2 and E6600. The VERY TOP non-overclocking performer - Bar none!!! HELP.
I read somewhere that getting high high end memory is a waste of cash if not overclocing. Also read that Micron D9DQW chips are the best. But, will I really get more speed from D9DQW natively if not overclocking? The best memory the BadAxe2 supports is PC800. So, I guess I get 800 over 667 or 533 right? Does this mean I should get DDR2 PC800 with D9QW chips or does it matter or any old PC800 will be fine? Will I notice a difference? Very confused. And, do I get ECC or non-ECC. Intel homepage says it support both; but what's better (more stable, faster, ect. and why)?
The egg has Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000) for 50 dollars off (309 after rebate). Is this, or something similar OK for this rig or am should I go for cheaper or more expensive.
Remember, I seek the BEST non-overcloading, shove it on the MB and get the best speed and stability RAM. The BEST money can buy but not wasteful. THANKs in advance, afm

non ecc......anything with D9 chips works with intel's badaxe...and yes get DDR2 800...the gskill f2 6400 phu2 2gbhz has been a vary stable moderately priced memory......
These are twin 512s right? Can you give me the twin 1GB version? And, does gskill use the D9 chips. OR, again, does this really matter. Lastly, any links or good deals that you know of on these?
These looked interesting:
G.SKILL 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail
500 at the egg. Making it roughly 125 per GB. However, the timing on them scares me at 6-6-6-18
Pricewatch has DDR2 PC800 memory going up up up or stable. Doesn't seem to drop!!! Any other suggestions?
Ok, whats the deal with the "Marvell" sata controller??? It seems to be not so "Marvellous" in any way shape or form... Anyone tried to load the os to it??? What a friggin JOKE.... Use the Intel controller, then change it over to the Marvell, and download the software?? Wow, i figured that Intel would have had their act together... (Promise, cough, cough) This crap reminds me of the "NON" functional Marvell raid on the P5WD2-E..... After 2 corupt os loads, im just gonna stick with the Intel controller....:brick:
How about these. Will these max on, out of the box, on the badass2? Are they D9 chips?
OCZ Platinum Revision 2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail - $245?
Depends on what you want to do. If you failed an overclock and just want to go back to normal settings, move the CMOS config jumper, change your settings, move the CMOS config jumper back. If you really screwed something up, you can do a BIOS restore by grabbing a .BIO type bios file from intel. To use you just pull the jumper off completely and boot the computer to that disk. Your screen won't work during this but after 5-10 minutes or so the system will reboot with a fresh instal of a BIOS and everything default. If you are really interested, there are solder points on the board for a true clear CMOS jumper, you could try to hold a wire on them or solder some pins and make your own jumper.Quote:

I'm thinking I need to do it to keep the default "boot up" vdimm higher than default. My ram is conditioned to need higher vdim even to boot two sticks at this point.

I was using it just to boot off of, i had 4 80 gigs on the Intel controller...
Is there any downside to leaving the unused Marvell sata controller enabled even if not using so the stupid hard drive light doens't stay on continuously as has been reported here.?Quote:

Yeah, what kind of crap is that??? Web based control panel??? Somebody at Intel dropped the ball on this one.....:rolleyes:Quote:

Now the fact this mobo got your e6600 to a higher stable overclock than the P5B-deluxe is very interesting. To me that dispels all this "maximum FSB" stuff as the major determinant in board quality.Quote:

Those 4-4-4-X are Promos. Good chips apparently, but not quite as fast as D9. The kind I have 4-5-4-15 are Elipida.Quote:

So which chipset active cooling solution will work on this board?
Got a question re: the cpu fan header on this board. My big typhoon header cable is a 3 pin cable but the cpu fan header interface on the xbx2 is 4 pin. Is there some sort of an adapter for this or any way of plugging this 3 pin cable into the 4 pin header of the board? Thanks.
