So another question, will this board work with the new C2D chips that are 1333 fsb? Or is it time for an upgrade?

i have try it, but I haven't found improvements:cord:
Tried to update my bios, now the machine wont boot.
No boot screen or anything.
I've tried to use a usb key to boot and the orignal CD that came with the board nothing is working.
Does anybody have any other ideas for me to try?
I don't seem to be even getting a signal going out to the video card.
Yeap cleared the Cmos after the second attempt.
I had this problem once before and it worked of the usb key, I think from memory I still had my display working and I could see what was going on. This time no display at all.
Looking to see if I can get another bios chip, not many places in Australia sell them.
Volnhar,
Same thing happened to me with the 07 bios, I tried everything, and couldn't get it to boot. The 2nd time I popped the battery out to reset the cmos, it fell into a fan. I ended up having to remove all the cables, unplugged it to find the battery. Found it, put it back in and it turned on...??...
So maybe there is something to unplugging the cables in the back with the bios flash. I know on my p5wdh board that if the keyboard is in the top USB ports it wouldn't boot after a flash.
Worth a shot, good luck.
And Barbonenet is that a better OC then you had with the older bios????
Thanks for the link , nothing really changed .
1333 fsb strap supported it seems .
1333 fsb strap, well thats a good thing. So this means the new 1333 fsb chips will work (at least the conroes, not the 45nm ones)

I have a new problem, I just got an Apple 24'' Cinema HD monitor, default res is 1920 x 1200. And when the computer boots now, I can't see a thing, until it gets to the Windows load screen. Any ideas how I can see the boot/ bios screens?
must be a monitor / vid. card / inputs issue. swap connectors :P
The apple monitor only has DVI out, and I have tried both DVI's on my 8800 GTX. No luck, the weird thing is, it never use to do this on older bios's. ( I occasionally used one at home)
I guess I need to flash to 0802 and see if it goes away.
EDIT--> Flashed to the 0802 bios, everything runs well, but still a black screen until Windows loads. Odd....Anyone else got a suggestion?
Don't suppose this beta BIOS fixes the cold boot issue when overclocked does it, or is that wishful thinking....
Just updated to 0802. I'm having 2 major problems now. My memory won't boot up at 800, just 667. Also, one of my RAID drives are not detected... Not good...
Didn't have any effect on my cold boot issue. Still there.
I don't know what to tell you regarding this. I actually pushed my Corsair (crappy nonoverclocking dominators) up to 835. Anything over and it won't post. Did you try loosening the timings? uping the voltage? etc, etc. The only reason I went to the 0802 BIOS was to get support for 1333FSB and to try the conductive ink hack. If you don't need the extra support, I say don't waste your time on these BIOS.
As for the RAID. You could try re-installing the drivers. My RAID 1 configuration was recognized just fine.
Bios 0903 for 64 PRO: ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/so...S-PRO-0903.zip
Hi, i own the Asus P5W64 WS PRO motherboard and i am going to buy the new G0 stepping Q6600 quad core with 1333fsb.does anyone know for certain if this new cpu will work with this motherboard, are these new G0 stepping any different to the old B3 stepping Q6600 compatable wise with the Asus P5W64 WS PRO.
I just don't want to buy the cpu and find out that it won't work with the motherboard when i get it.
I'm running one currently on my board, sitting at 3.4Ghz, I'm using the 802 bios haven't tried the latest one yet.
My board doesn't like fsbs over 420 so I generally run my at 4:5 haven't had any issues.
I do have another Q6600 that I need to test just haven't had the chance to put it in yet.
Thanks that's great,i just installed the new 903 bios, hopfully it's as good as the 802 bios for compatability with the G0 stepping,i might even downgrade back to the 802 like you are running just to be safe, before the upgrade i was running 704 i think, one thing i noticed when i upgraded to the 903 was that it gives you a new style asus boot screen, which is pretty ugly looking compared to the old blue boot screen.
The G0 stepping ( QX6850, Q6600 for me ) work very well with the bios 0802 or 0903.
