BTW - One of the negatives for me on this board was the fact that getting a PCI sounds card in the mix with two video cards isn't going to happen. Abit is using the same onboard sound as Asus uses in its 975 mobos. Here's what Anandtech had to say about Realtek ALC882M when reviewing the Asus P5WD2-E Premium:

Anyone else care to comment about the sound on this mobo? Does the Abit version enjoy any advantage becuase their sound chip is on the PCI-E bus vs. Asus which is right on the mobo? None right?

I'm currently limited to the provided sound card with my configuration. I have an aging set of logitech Z680 speakers which has 2 digital inputs for use with its built in digital decoder. The sound card is decent for movies though I have yet to play any dvd that doesn't have DTS audio. Music was okay, but my biggest complaint is the noticable difference in games like quake. Fear sounded much better than quake during expolsions etc., but still lacking compared to the audigy 2 platnium I'd been using. I also purchased the guru panel. Its just under $25 shipped from newegg & I feel it should have been included with this board when the price was more than the $219 I paid. Its a sweet looking board, gonna replace the thermal paste tonight & add some fans to try to get 450Mhz out of this board. With all this rambling I forgot to just plain say, I don't like the onboard sound.Quote:

This is a little off topic for this thread, and someone can correct me if I am wrong but This memory will give the corsair 6400c3 a run for the money right? Ok back on point. I got my AW9D-MAX the other day and had a failed bios flash right after I got it all set up. Just got a new bios chip today. Any suggestions for the flash. Is it safer to flash in windows? My board died because it restarted in the middle of the flash :confused: I am going to hotflash my old bios chip so I have a backup. Hoping to get it all up and running this weekend!Quote:

The asus looked a lot better of late so i went with it, the result above seems way better then most of the recent abit results so :confused:
I just got an Abit AW9D-Max and all I have to say is Abit is back. I like this board a lot. Reminds me of my old IC7-G Max II except it looks more sexy.
