1. I disconnected everything, and took the heatsink out, cleaned both CPU and HS with alcohol, reapplied Artic Silver 5, and disconnected all SATA, Floppy, and IDE connections. Basically, all that was left connected was the case fans, the video card, and the power connectors (both the big one and the EATX12V one).
I powered it up, and This time I don't hear any beeps, but I still dont see anything coming out of the Video Card. When I press reset, I hear ONE long beep followed by Three short beeps...and seconds later, one short beep.
2. After trying the above for several times, I disconnected the heatsink, and just put the stock heatsink, and powered it up....similar issue: no sound, but no video, until a reset which provokes the beeps as in (1).
3. I removed the CPU to check it, and put it back on, and this time did NOT put the heatsink back on (bare CPU....yes, I know its bad, but just wanted to see if the heatsink was causing any issues). I tried it again, but this time the system shut itself down after a few seconds....I assume some sort of heat alarm shutdown on the CPU or something.
I will try removing one of the DIMMs, but I doubt it is my RAM as I know several people who are running my DIMMs without any problems on this board. The problem is that I'm driving blind....I see no video output! perhaps its the video card, so tomorrow I will pick up a cheap card and see if I can see something out of the card.
if not, I will return the board for another one.
