So, what' is a safe pci-e frequency OC without any harm to the hardware plugged in?
I'm pretty much giving up on the 4.5+ band wagon. either i have a crap chip or i'm just a moron but no matter what i do, i can't get linx to pass 20 rounds at all.
this is by far the best i've gotten...:
980x @ 29x155 @ (upto) 1.435 vcore *4.509ghz* (temp hits 95c at this voltage... 1.409-1.42 is prefered for mid 80's)
12gb dominator GT's @ 1865 7-9-7-24-72 N2 (stock is 1866 CL9) and at 1.749v
QPI at 1.3125v (higher than 1.34 and it BSOD's)
uncore is 3100... somethin (can't remember off the top of my head)
PLL at 1.6165v
i can get linX to pass 100 rounds with 1024mb supplied... i hit all mem and it chokes. i've tried swaping mem sticks around, done countless mem tests and everything comes back fine... but it will not do full memory period...
yep... given up.
i was able to get a semi stable setup with 4.5ghz with only 6 gigs of memory going... here's the part that gets me. this will pass 1,000 rounds in LinX with 512mb mem used... but wont pass 20 rounds with full memory and if i run any games or applications, it BSOD's on me.
if i go back and use my normal setup at 4ghz with all 12 gigs of memory... LinX wont even pass 10 rounds with 128mb mem used... even though this setup is what i use for 24/7 and has been rock solid for over 7 months without fail...
i seriously (and i've said this before) believe LinX is NOT a proper testing program as it ALMOST thinks 4.5ghz is stable... yet thinks my 24/7 clocks of 4ghz is highly unstable even though i've never had a BSOD or any problems of any kind... yet 4.5ghz i get BSOD's, my keyboard / mouse like to randomly disable and i have to unplug and then plug them back in. my wireless wont engage and the windows 7 theme with the taskbar and such will randomly screw up and then refresh it's self... so if my 4ghz isn't stable sense i never have said issues like i do with 4.5... then i don't know what stable is OR LinX is just plan stupid.
LinX is just a GUI, so I guess Intel's own CPU testing libraries are the ones you are calling stupid.
skuldarin sell your pc and never buy one again ;)
i'm calling it stupid because it thinks the higher clocking i'm trying to get is just about half way stable yet the clocks i run on a daily basis is apparently highly unstable... yet my daily clocks run everything rock solid and the higher goals i'm trying to go for BSOD on anything i try doing...
if it says my daily use clocks wont pass a darn thing, yet i run all programs just fine without ever having a BSOD... then you'd think the higher clocks would do just fine when they get away with passing almost all LinX tests EXCEPT full mem 20 passes would be just as stable if not better than my daily clocks... yet i can't even open internet explorer without it BSOD'ing on me, specially when my homepage is google search which has almost nothing to load... so you tell me, why oh why would something like that happen?
again...
daily clocks - 4ghz / 1866mhz CL7 (7-9-7-24-72 N2) *wont pass hardly any stability tests... yet runs rock solid and has been for 7-8 months...*
higher clocks - 4.5ghz / 1866-2000 CL9 (stock timings for CMT12GX3M6A1866C9) *will pass most stability tests... yet BSOD's on just about any program when started*
IMO your problem is there in your sig. 12GB of RAM and low VTT.
I have 6x2GB of same Elpida Hypers, but using only 6GB, as 12 is very hard for IMC. And I have no use of 12GB.
Post your detailed settings and HW specs and I'll try to help.
BTW, maybe you should start your own thread, so we don't spam this one. Point us to it, if you do.
its retarded running pci-e at 115 thats just dumb i'm running 4500 mhz on 960 chip with 101 on pci-e slot never seen anyone take it over 103, BCLKis at 216

hi
I bougth an i7 6700K and will receive it in next 2 days
someone can told me the usual reference voltages to overclock??
for 4000mhz processor should need about what voltage? 1.10v ?
for 4500mhz processor should need about what voltage? 1.20v ?
for 4700mhz processor should need about what voltage? 1.25v ?
I am not interested in extreme OC.. only an OC for 24/7 stable with low temp
