Nice vcore on that one, what ram?
I've got my 2500K (3107B211) at x54 so far (haven't had much time for OC so far, new tests at next week). I think I kept the vcore on 1.6v, just to make it comfortable for myself and raise the multiplier each time I go to BIOS. Motherboard is Gigabyte Z68X-UD3-B3 which doesn't have very good PWM..
About 24/7 clock, it seems to run stable 4.6GHz @ only 1.3V, prime 12h stable + gaming tests.
Maybe someone has the same board and can share some tips about what to adjust and how much to adjust?

TBH I have no idea WTF I'm doing with SB overclocking!

Hi guys!
I left the the hunting for a good 2600K after 8 crappy chips (max X53) and today i bought my third 2500K (I am more lucky with these I had 2X55)
The strange with this third chip is that with PLL overvoltage enable or disable reaches tha same frequency...(X50) is that normal?
With PLL overvoltage enable i think you can reach 5 more multi...right?
5 more multi? who told you that?
That was what i noticed to my P67-UD4...
After a quick search I found that
http://gigabytedaily.blogspot.com/20...67-boards.html
Now I have a MIVE and maybe it is not the same...
PLL can certainly help with stability but in the end it comes down to the chip.
So...that chip is my worst. With more than X50 multi it freezes at windows logo.. and debug led on MIVE shows AA

Nice run there.
hi i have a new in package i7 2600k bacth L105A823 do you know if it is good o bad ?? thank you vincent
Batch imho doesn't really matter. Just test it and see for your self.
I tested 13 CPUs and i can tell you, there is no rule to judge them
batch L104A617

I was pretty lucky with sb cpu on my last 2 purchases. On my 4th CPU, I got a almost 5.8ghz cpu, so I though I should buy another one for general use to slow down the degrading of this CPU. In the end, the new cpu I got do better. 5.9ghz is spi32m doable and I will try for 6ghz validation when I get my hands on some LN2
my gosh.. how lucky!
best i have out of 10 2600ks overall was a 54 multi which has degraded to FUBAR.. it can't even hold 3d anymore @ 5400 when it used to be able to :(
got a few chips comming in... 3x2600ks from newegg and one used 2500k batch 3102C224
fingers crossed

Here is my old and dusty L040B208 2600K still kicking. A quick run of 3DM11 at 5300mhz and a run of Cinebench R11.5 at 5400mhz I did this morning.:D
after testing a few cpu, I find that on air/water and sub zero is different. I almost sold my 5.3ghz on air but unexpectedly the cpu did 5.78ghz on ln2

Very nice daily chip Ace!
I just bought a 3113Bxx 2500K that so far is running LinX AVX at 4.6Ghz with 1.24V under load. Once I find the max, Ill post all the details. Seems like a great low volt clocking chip so far.

hi cecil.. that is not your max multi is it? :p:
nice clock :)
I just bought my first 2500K to try and its a lemon ..... it needs 1.55v to boot at 5ghz and its not even stable .....
:(
2700Ks coming up:)
Will they be binned 2600K?
I will find out soon:) Imo, it will be a little higher average max multi than 2600K...probly average 54X/55X?
I have to admit though that BD FX chip is more fun to oc:) It took me longer to find its sweet spot with non LN2 cooling (and its still scaling up with more cold) whereas SB only took 15 minutes to find its max Mhz. Lol
batch 3115B564
max multi 52
max clock 5252mhz
man.. 4 31XXXB and all aren't that good... 52, 52,52,53 :(
martin you got lucky man.. with that 56x
It is certainly not like the early days of Sandy.
I havent had cooling to test a max multi, but Im on my 4th 2500K, and this one is best for clock/voltage scaling. The first one did 5 stable but needed a ton of volts and was best ran at 4.5 1.35v. The second really only could do 4.4 with 1.35. The new C batch I got did 4.6 with 1.35. My 3113B can do 4.8 with 1.33V. So Id say the newer ones are doing better daily, but not as well for benching.
I have gotten two x55 and a x57 from Costa Rica, and only one x55 from Malaysia, and I would agree with the newer chips being better than the old ones.
Can any of you guys bench 56x on water? I have a cpu that does 56x with wall at 5650 but I cant get it 3D stable at anthing over 5250-5300, it requires alot of juice to do that too - 1.65-1.7v - do you think cold will help? Is the chip stuffed? It was as well have a wall at 5300 since I cant use the 56x anyway (except for SuperPi)...
:(
Based on my personal binning experience, 30+ pcs. 2600Ks yielded (1) 58X when stick with good known batch/es (luck factor excluded)...Hopefully it will take less with 2700K
If its wall @ 5650 Mhz then definitely you can bench (with cold) @ 5630ish at least with 4C/4T
5650 was with 4c/8t too, I tried disabling and didnt get any more out of it.
What rams are you guys using for C7 at high clocks?
:)
I use mostly Gskill with great success though others like Corsair. I just got in another set of F3-18400CL9D-8GBXMD to test but so far my best results have been with there F3-17000CL7D-4GBXHD.
In general are the newer batches getting better or worse? Or still just as random as ever?
I would say getting better, my 2500k is windows 24/7 stable at 4.5ghz with stock voltage. However I haven't tried anything too demanding yet, no games/benchmarks just casual use so far
are those batches by any chance 310XXX?
the ones in my bin are the very new ones from etaliers like egg and ncix.. not enough sample size to make a conclusive analysis, but i would say 311XXX aren't very good from what i am seeing.. or just bad luck on my part
i have a few more comming in and some that are still needing to be binned.. i'll post the results soon
just takes me to long to take off and reapply the eraser
The Egg has the 2700Ks in stock right now for 360.00 if anyone is interested.
(2) of 2700Ks...54X and 55X:(
Mostly building and using AMD systems I decided to try out Intel in the form of 2600K. I did not take the batch number on the CPU itself as I unfortunately already installed it by the time I realised I never wrote it down. Anyways, the batch number on the box states 3129B589 and the chip is from Costa Rica.
I went with a cheap motherboard to start with which unfortunately only has 4 phase VRM to the processor. The board is the Biostar TZ68A+ and I’m using 2 x 2GB Corsair Detonator GT 2133 running stock with stock timings of 9-10-9-24 T1. I’m using the True 120 Black for cooling and managed 4.7Ghz for everyday use with the core temps reaching 63C under Wprime1024 loads. I’m still getting to know the settings and the bios of this motherboard, but I was also able to bench at 5Ghz but the multi kept dropping to 49 – 48 under load with the temps going up to 67C max. Apparently the dropping of the multi under load could be as a result of the 4 phase VRM getting too hot, but I’m just stating what I read in some other forums. Ambient temperature in the room was 25C.
79 pages of posts, lots of gosip but no conclusion, also batch numbers mentioned in overclocking section (lots of posts).
Hey guys please tell me, with sandy bridge chips does batch really make "ANY" difference. I've gone through countless posts in the last few days to see if there is a trend in batch. What I've seen is a lot of L103 & 3103 are consistently clocking well, also L042. Do you guy's agree, partly agree or disagree. Just wanted to make sure as I know someone who believes that batch number in sandy bridge makes no difference at all.
Ok, I have an 3103 2500k coming my way soon, I think that it's not guaranteed that this chip will clock well but I have a better chance than buying in random.
Your help is greatly appreciated, thanks.
i'm wondering about that to but i guess there is no real conculsion yet. Maybe the answer for SB will be luck for a big part when you have batck xxx and xxx.
i've binned 10 chips the past few weeks and have had 16 overall...
i personally don't think batch number matters at all.. if you buy 3 chips of the same batch.. you might get a 56x and you might get one that only does 51 or so.
It's just luck.. of course.. there might be some batches that have higher multi in average
My latest 2600K chip is in a base system at 4500mhz at 1.28vcore prime stable. It is a older batch L042B208.
I have a 2700K and max. boot is 53
I Test 4.5 Ghz thats it for me I sell it

Guys have you found any gains with particular motherboards or do they have no affect on the cpu clocks? Do Z68's clock better or no difference?
For Sandy chips the Asus Mive is about as good as it gets right now though I have not tested any Z68 boards. All the P67 series boards I have tested are very close. Its more the cpu with a strong IMC.
Sup andre. Those are both fantastic boards I agree, I still have a Gig UD5 B2 that is stellar despite there little mishap running sata 2 and 3 at the same time which I do not do so no problem. I like the looks of the new X79 UD7 but I would still rather have a MIVE and may grab one anyway.
Wait on Z77 as it FULLY supports new CPU's inc native USB3 hopefully!
Not sure when Intel will make a proper non bastard chipset once again with no SATA 3Gbit/s and USB 2.0 on-board!
I regret upgrading back in September and wish I had not!
I would guess March 2012!

Using Gigabytes 'Quick Boost' feature in Touch BIOS only.. I'm not that familiar with overclocking so I figured I would start with this....

Is it any good?
Runs stable with OCCT and Burn test.

Yes that looks promising. You may just have a keeper there. What cooling?
Whats up aussie. I have not tried any Z types yet though the revision adds a few new things but most of the board is similar and performance should be close to P67. The EVO is a great board also but again the MIVE seems to be the best clocker from what I have seen.
Looks good so far go for 4.6-4.8ghz and we'll see.
Give prime95 x64 a try too- I've have had chips pass IBT/linX and BSOD before but none so far after passing prime95 testing.
forgot the batch of this one.. i think it was 310XCXXX
http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/3929/cpuzyay.png
this is my max benching clock :) (convenient since i can run 2200mhz on mem)
for max clock i can get to xp screen up to 59x.. bsod quickly though and i couldn't validate in time :(
i bin only using 1.56v so i will try more volts later, but i don't want to degrade this since i have no more money to buy chips with :(
i also tried 6ghz for fun 58x, 103.4.. no blinking dash line, and bsod with page pool error :(
what do you guys think? more volts+ something colder than phase? i really really don't want to degrade this
Nice one Bad, congrats:up:
My 58X unstable @ less than 1.63V on phase, mostly 4C/4T all 3Ds up to 5840Mhz.
4C/8T vantage/wprime only @ 5705Mhz max. with any Vcore:(
If you passed 5805Mhz then it will be either 5850Mhz max or 5899Mhz max...some can go 5900+ with LN2 and 1.68V/1.7V
thanks dumo! :)
i need a dewar and hopefully i can get higher for benching..
i got into os with 1.64v 5.9ghz 58multi and 101.8blck.. didn't run anything though, evap was getting almost bellow -40C and i think cpu was way hotter.
i think i'll do 5.8 for now.. 103.66blck seems to be the sweet spot for me in terms of memory frequency :)
need ln2 :(
EDIT: batch number is: 3102C314
sn:0832
It is all here in this thread just dig around. There is a ton of good info on the 3 series. You want to test for high Multi so reduce ram divider speed a notch to eliminate that then set cpu vcore to maybe 1.35v QPI/VTT to 1.100v Sys agent to 0.923v leave PCH alone for now as well as cpu PLL, set ram vcore and start raising the multi with quick tests for stability. Cinebench R11.5 is great because its fast and pounds the cpu rather well showing faults rather quick. Increase vcore on the cpu as needed in baby steps and watch cpu temps like a hawk.
:cool:Killa chip you have there Bada, one of the highest I have seen. Very nice work. Someone please give him a pair of water blocked 580 classi cards already.
very sick chip bad:up:
seems that the costa rica c batches are the way to go. . .
http://i.imgur.com/3ju2B.png
this was a little suicide run but I won't run any benches at those clocks/volts since I am only under water.
thanks :D.. also you have a very nice chip there yourself!
do you remember what the specific batch of that was?
i found another 310CXXX on craigslist... these seem to be averaging at least 54X :)
i'm wondering if i should gamble and sell one of my video cards and buy it lol
wow very low volts gaul..looks like you're on air?
try for max multi yet?
wow those are great, it makes me want to go try a new cpu again .... Im getting a single stage too, would 1/4Hp Kayl unit be enough? Or a Prommy? I found one of each for sale, I also found a 1/2HP Kayl but its too dear for me.
Are these new good cpus with rounded corners on IHS or sharp corners? Or no pattern with this either?
Is a Gene-Z a good board? If I set up a benching board with SS then would this be a decent choice?
BTW Im out of touch with the news but when are SB-E and X79 due out?
:)
OK 1/3HP Kayl SS on the way ....
Badatgames - your a lucky bugger with your cpus .....
:)
A friend of mine (FedtTony) got these results with 2500K (313XBXXX) w. Asus P8P67 PRO B3:
http://i44.tinypic.com/j61qvt.jpg
I'm quite sure he can get more out of it
Looks like another keeper, nice chip.
anyone find golden 2700k yet?
@ Bad...Tried 7 so far and 55X top, might as well go 3960X
I would skip the 2700 also, 3960 could provide some fun though.
Hi, have some ca$h to spend, WTB low voltage CPU ( 2500K 2600K 2700K ) so drop me a PM if you have something to propose, thanks for reading.
Anyone have any experience with L133C199?
i really wish the 3930's do 5GHz that will be awesome :)
wonder who will be the first to try it :)
eva2000 will be trying it out with some hypers :D ...whenever they come out in AUS..
i'll be switching too as soon as they come out... but hard to choose between the rampage iv and the new gigabyte oc lol..
first one has more features, but i'm interested in which ever one oc better
