nothing fancy, just air :)
hm, this makes me think about upgrading... Im running the 0812 bios right now with my Q6600, at 3.7ghz with 1.38vcore. Id love to try for 3.8ghz or better!
I dont know about quads, never had one :( so I cant speak for it. But with the wolfies this bios rocks
Be aware that you cant roll back to a previous bios using the ez flash metod if you update to this one. Only way is thru Asus update buggy program or Afudos Engineering edition.
Hey guys
I tested this BIOS and found that's very good, i tested all since 0311 and this is the first bios that let me go with my Q6600 as high as with bios 0311. The bad thing is that i have to give a little NB and FSB to make my 0311 OC's prime stable...Also main reason of NB=1,4 is that my frames dropped dramatically on games...With bios 0311 i just put PCIE=105 and was ok, but no luck with this, maybe the mushkin's 2x2GB are stressing the NB more than my 2x1Gb Ballistix did...
My main reason of flashing this 0902 is that my 2x2GB Mushkin Ascent requiere TRFC value of > 42 and bios 0311 couldn't provide it...
This are my values for prime95 SmallFFT's stable and Blend stable

Quick question. Do you think the CPU PLL voltage being 1.5v (lowest) be holding my OC back? Maybe bump up to 1.6v? Before i updated to the 0809 bios, I was able to get to 3.78ghz. Now anything over 3.6ghz is unstable. Would this be the key? Running my q6600 @ 1.5675v was NOT the answer, lol. It used to run at 3.78ghz at 1.5v 24/7 stable.
I think that PLL= 1,6 is fine but in my opinion bios 0809 is no good for the quads, the best are 0311 and this new 0902...With this 2 bios i can bench at 4267Mhz and run stable at 3906 with 1,4725 vcore set on bios...No other bios allow me to do that.
Cheers
Sergio
I have not even checked for a new bios. I am so behind. I should update!
Have a link to that bios? it's not showing up on asus's site.
edit: 0812 is the newest one listed for download.
edit 2: Found in a page or 2 back, DLing now at least hoping it will... its slow.... might not be working.... may have to get someone to serve it.
I wonder why they took this off the site....
edit 3: Will someone please host the 0902 bios?
I clicked on it twice and it failed. 3rd time, it worked. Odd!
THANKS!!!!!!! I'll play with this later
I'm in the new bios. Thanks guys!
I am not going to try and get the OC i had w/ 0311. I have 3.78ghz w/ 4-3-4-10 ddr2 800 @ 840, but i have ddr2 1000 ram now, so i'll see what i can do. I was doing 3.825 w/ my old ram. 3.9 ghz? Maybe, lets see, wish me luck. btw, this is on water, mcp655 pump, mcr320 rad, d tek block!
hey guys I'm having a hard time to make my bios 311 OCs stable with this 902...
I had 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix 1066 before and are dead...so I bought 2x2Gb mushkin ascent 1066 that require trfc values over 42 wich bios 311 can't provide...so i have to flash this 902 bios...i could make it till 3825 as you can see it some posts behind but i can't make it to 3906
this are my actual settings and prime small and blend fails...
Well I have to tell you that i passed all OC adjusting FSB = 1,3 and NB = 1,4 but i can't pass prime95 on my main best OC that is 3906 with mems at 1088 can you give me a hand ? It's failing both small and blend...

With bios 311 and the ballistix never had to change NB and FSB values i don't know if are the mushkins or the new bios that is forcing me to adjust those...
Any help would be apreciated
Cheers all
Sergio
I changed to mimic your settings. I still cannot get past 3.6ghz. I did notice that my v droop/drop is less, but my temps are substantially higher. I am going to see what voltage I need for 3.6ghz. If its lower than 1.5v, then its a start. I needed 1.55v for 3.78/3.825 ghz. I'm hoping i can lower that, but for now, nothing is stable beoyond 3.6ghz.
I am using your settings and finally got my q6600 @ 3.71 ghz, but at 1.525v. Took 1.55 for 3.78, so I guess this is somewhat on the right track, although i know bios 311 allowed for lower voltages. moving past 411x9 is hard.
hi monza
i tried your 600 FSB setting but for some reason this freesez on windows
screen. i got SAME set up like you....
please can you post some screen shots of 600 FSB cpuz and other programes.
You must be aware that Crucial Ballistix 1066 make OC a little easy on this board...Crucial sticks are the best specially if you have a 2x1GB config, I tried Patriot, Gskill and now Mushkin and never been so easy than having Crucial's, bad thing mine died young :(
If you have any other sticks maybe they're limiting your OC...maybe a little tweak on subtimmings may help, and remember no CPU is the same, each one needs their own adjustments...
Cheers
Sergio
No need a WR on a Wolfdale inmo, the TRUE is doing pretty awesome on your rig. My Q6600 burns like hell so I need to keep it cool...Bios 902 is very good wish i had my ballistix...Tough I couldn't make my 3906Mhz 24/7 OC it with this 902 and the 2x2Mushkint Ascent..just my good ol' 3825Mhz with 1,425 set on bios
Cheers mate
Sergio
@sergio. i got team Xtreem 800 (2*1GB) stick that can do easy 1200 ghz with 2.3v.i dont think is it ram.
thanks monza for posting.what air cooling did you used, and cpu volts in bios.
which ram u got there.why u did not use OCCT with 600 FSB for stayablility.what E8400 batch?
what temps u getting there with core temps or real temps?
good job by the way :)
Thermalright Ultra extreme, 1.47v for that Spi run, but it can be lower
A couple of Crucial Ballistix sticks, the good old D9. I never said that it was stable at 600, I dont think it would pass a 32m Spi run. Q805A160. not the best but not the worst either
Cpu temps, about 40º C Idle - 55º C load (realtemp). Northbridge I cant say. Thanks :D
i got no luck at the moment with 600 FSB.but manage 590.when ever i set FSB T to 1.20v
it dosn't post.but with auto or 1.40v its post with no problem.with 590 FSB its on AUTO right now.
i dont know why it dont work with 1.20v. 600 FSB it goes till windows screen but after that it freezes there..... its cpu , MB , or ram, limited :( any thing else that i can try........
yes i also think that its cpu wall.with setfsb it goes to 595 but not 600.i tried single core that can
takes it to 600 but not with dual core........any thing 600 it freazes.this Q818A254 giving me also stayability problems with 9*445 no matter what volts i used, also tested with auto volts in bios.
After crossflash with P5K Premium 0702 bios I've also managed to get 600 FSB:rocker:
http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/1...b600ye4.th.jpg
The difference what I've seen between P5K Delux 0902 and 0702 P5K Premium are only in:
CPU PLL voltage - up to 2.20v and NB Voltage - up to 1.95v. Also with the same settings CPU 9.5x500, RAM (5-5-5-15-3-45-6-3-3) 1:1 with both bioses PL of RAM is PL8 for 0902 and PL12 for 0702.
@kup, Before the crossflash the max.FSB what I've reached was 545. I'm not sure, but I suspect this low FSB with 0902 was result of enabling of Transaction booster:level 2, now it's set on Auto.

more NB volts should help :)
not sure if it helps as been ages since i used my P5K Deluxe for oc'ing but my findings 14 months ago for 0311 vs 0404 bios might hold true for 0902 as well http://i4memory.com/f54/p5k-deluxe-0...161/#post68161 so play with tRTP value to see what AUTO sets and adjust accordingly
HTH
Those volts changes are for real, or there only figure in the bios ?? Could you read those with a multimeter?
Change your transaction booster level to 3 for a lower number in performance level.
Also dont forget to disable the DRAM Static Read Control if you are using the Transaction Booster option
I haven't read with multimeter and I don't know are they real (in fact I don't know where are the measurement points :hitself:)
Thanks about about the transaction booster and DRAM Static Read Control. I noticed that exactly in one of your previous posts. I will try this :)
Crossflash works just fine on the P5K-E too, just disable the Realtek Ethernet and you're all set. Didn't yield any better results than the latest P5K-E bios 1102, which is also identical to the latest Deluxe bios, just as the 0702 Premium bios is...
EDIT: Except the Premium extra voltages.
Guys, im retesting my "dead" p5k deluxe wifi ap...it seems like with pci-e cards it doesnt boot up...BUT,if i dont put any vid card on the pci-e slots, it boots up just fine...thing is i dont have video :P
I tryed with a really old card...a trident with 2 megs of ram, pci card...but i dont get any video...boots up tho. I had this issue before, new mobos dont boot with old pci vid cards...maybe if i get a better o newer one, it might boot correctly, and then reflash the bios?
Thanx for your help guys.
I'm a bit lazy I'll admit but I'm running out for work and need to pull the trigger on some new overclocking memories - I have the chance to get some nice DDR2-1200 sticks but need to find out if this board can handle high FSB (500+) and high DDR2 frequency (DDR2-1100++) on 4 sticks of ram
I've only had this board (P5K Deluxe) a few months and have been using a Mushkin Redline 2x2 kit the whole time (doesn't clock high than 1050.... :( )
I'm off to work and search around somemore in the down time - love getting paid to research my OC
Hey Guys, after some tests i ended on this prime95 stable small and blend

Thanks for clarify
Been watching this thread for a while. Just wondering what the best bios is for the Asus P5k Deluxe? I'm currently running bios 0404 and it overclocks ok. Is Bios 0902 better? Worth the trouble of upgrading? Any problems with bios 0902?

Best bios for this mobo is the 0311 by far...I have to flash 0902 cause of requirement of my 2x2 Mushkin Ascent...but 0902 OC very good also...In your case you better bet is bios 0311 but you could stay on 0404 also, but give it a try, remember you can't go back easy...
Cheers mate
Hi!
I'm experiencing a really strange problem with this motherboard. I had the 311 bios version flash, and it worked perfectly with a C2D E6600 and Q6600 @ 3600MHz, and Crucial Ballistix Tracers @ 1200 CL5 [BL2KIT12864AL106A]. All the time the Tracers were mounted in the black slots. Then I've cleared the CMOS, flashed successfully the 902 bios version, and changed the CPU for Q9550. For some unknown reasons, the Deluxe refuses to POST with the Tracers in dual channel in the black slots, but If I switch to the yellow slots .. everything works just fine. The Deluxe won't start with 4x1GB @ 1066 also. Any ideas why this is happening? BIG 10x!
LE: magic! I can use the black slots but ONLY if I start with one stick in the B2 slot, reboot, and then add rest of memory. This doesn't work though for auto settings so you have to manually set the DRAM frequency, timings and voltages.
Hey guys
Can anyone tell me what are the values on BIOS 0902 for 45nm CPU's, i have a 65nm and says that changes when a 45nm is installed
As i read on bios it has from 1,1 to 1,4...
Should that be enough for Yorkields ? as i see lots of ppl on more than 1,4 on other motherboards, like X48 rampage....
Cheers
Sergio
I have found using 4 sticks of ram requires the Northbridge voltage to be increased to 1.55v for stability (at 4.25GHz). I was at NB 1.25v with 2 ram sticks, but with 4, the NB needs more juice. I set the NB ref. voltage to .61x and CPU ref. voltage to .63x.Quote:

Are you talking about the VTT voltage anderssergio? The Intel max. recommended VTT is 1.115v with the 45nm processors. I set my VTT to 1.1v and it works fine at 4.25 GHz with 1.34v cpu.
With the P5K-D, I have got the FSB up to 545FSB x 8.5 = 4630 MHz @ 1.48v cpu with my new Xeon E3110 C0 processor. So there is still some potential for these boards.

***yes same here mate, but with 2x2 sticks i just have it on NB=1,4 but yes it's true with 2x1 sticks never needed over 1,25 and for 4x1 needs 1,55
I have the NB ref. on .67x...does it help lower ? or that is cauz you are using 1,55...

***well VTT = FSB termination voltaje right ? yes i'm talking, but that is because i have a Q9650 on it's way and saw on the thread that vtt on most X48 and P45 mobos is over that, or maybe i'm confused...I know that a Dual Core requieres less adjusts, but quads push more...

***Well in never ever doubt about this boards always gave me amazing results, i just wanted to know for someone with a 45nm chip which values are changing on bios when a 45nm is detected as in bios 0812 an 0902 says so.

How do you get that FSB out of a P5K Deluxe, Got my E6750 'ntill 3.6Ghz @ this board, while @ my sold gigabyte board it easily booted @ 3.7Ghz+ , but tomorrow I'll search further to get this b*tch running faster again ^^
There is a link in this thread somewhere to the bios 0311 that you can actually roll back to. It was a hack job. I never got a chance to download it.
If anyone can find it (I don't feel like searching 80 pages right now), post the link. I've been meaning to roll back myself as I miss my 3.8ghz stable machine.
Also, if you have the hacked bios, please upload and link us. A lot of people would like it. ;)
Edit:
I skimmed the thread and didn't see the link. If anyone knows where it is or anyone can upload a hacked version that'll work, please post.
Try Koda's flash tool mate, it worked fab for me with the P5Q Dlx... link here : Koda's Asus bios tool
Follow the instructions, you need a good USB key ( at least 512mb) but it works amasingly...
Current P5K dlx biosses via the tool :
P5K Deluxe WIFI-AP
Bios 0902, 0812, 0809, 0705, 0703, 0603, 0601, 0404, 0311, 0202
I used the ISO file and it worked fine. I'm in BIOS 0311. Now I am just searching settings b/c I used to have 425x9 stable. 8x475 won't stay stable, even at 1.55v. Its been a while since I've OC'd in this bios.
New two BIOS just released:
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/so...eluxe-1004.zip
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/so...eluxe-1005.zip
Has anybody test them?
i update to 1005 so far very stable with 600 fsb direct from bios.this bios need good cpu to boot from bios.i tried 1.6v cpu to boot.i got E0 E8500.
Wow new bios huh. I'll have to check it out.
hey guys...
Is there anyone running the newer quads (q9400/q9550/q9650) in this board?
If there is, please type your bios settings and your 24/7 oc. Thx :)
