Anyone get there board today?
so has anyone got theres from motherboard pro yet?
i ordered mine a week ago , but it feels like ive been waiting a month!! lol
cant wait to get this freak'n board in , i have all my watercooling gear i just bought laid out , cleand and ready for install. i even built my own case out of perspex for it ,so thats waiting as well. new drives and more crucials 1066 modules also . just need that board. hate having to wait for stuff.
Mine gets delivered tomm afternoon. Also waiting on an Enzotech SNBW to show as well. Wish I could have found a block for the Mosfets to order, but that will need to be later I guess.
Larry
Man I'm not getting mine till next week.
I paid for Fedex 2 day shipping, as the only time I'll have to install is this weekend. End of my vacation here and back to work to pay for all the toys on monday :(
Larry
I now wish I had as well. Oh well. You live and learn.
Arrival. Not packaged well at all for shipping.
do us a favor and peel that x48 sticker off under the lanparty logo to see if it says x38 lol.
Every DFI board i purchase on launch always appears used.
No known differnces at this time, outside of sticker(x48)and NB etched with x48.Will look into bios shortly for a differnce.Odd bug? When i disable lan2 in bios,it disables lan1 also.Ill look into the sticker on next power down.No warranty sticker on NB.
So only one single difference from X38 is second revizion of NB?
Perhaps it could run to 600fsb.
Stock pics.Would never oc as that would void warranty:rofl: .
New picture.Amb 70F.Cpu on water.Stock NB cooler with fan.
Seems to be the same exact board as the X38 but they just swapped out the chipset. All cooling is the same. Board came directly from DFI (ordered from motherboardpro.com) in CA after passing customs. Packaging was absolute crap...Just motherboard box thrown in a larger FedEx box, no insulation, and rattled around a lot in shipping.
Think it says "X38" underneath "X48" sticker, but haven't pulled it off.
Just received mine :yepp: Rev. A000 (I preferred the A001 on X38's).
My NB HS didn't came mounted do, it came in little box exactly as the X38.
Under the sticker there is no X38
Now I'm waiting on the freaking NB block to fire it up.
wow that makes me nervous...
I hope mine doesn't get beat up enough that it's DOA.
The first thing I spotted was this:
http://i29.tinypic.com/11ion7a.jpg
X48 uses CH08 and X38 uses CH07 chip...
The code is what one would expect to see. It says the inductors on the X48 board were produced January 2008 and the ones on the X38 board were produced September 2007. The boards are the same down to the chipset (one is higher binned and labeled X48). The DDR3 version is where the changes will be.
im abit worried about the ,"need a special cpu lots cant do 500" How would a x6800 c2 perform with this board ? just curious. what kind of overclock could i expect ? im thinking if im going to be limiting myself with a x6800 it might be worth upgrading to a quadcore?
i want to see 45nm past the x38 fsb barrier on this board :D
Why they didn't change the pcb layout has they would do in T3R version?
http://resources.vr-zone.com//newspi...FI_X48-T3R.jpg
http://www.vr-zone.com/articles/DFI_...yout/5607.html
The theory of a x38 board with a x48 sticker...
if they are electrically identical chips why change the pcb layout its a great layout, but the t3r looks worse off than the t2r
wow , id be interested to know how that thermalright works ? its like 2 inches from anything . is it even effective?
looks interesting though .
as i understand x48 ddr2 has same cooling as x38, only x48 ddr3 will be with thermalrights
hmm dude
check dfi website
theres 3 - x48's
1 LT - one ddr2
2 UT's - one DDR2 and one DDR3
this is not asus dude...
all the UT's get transpiper2.
LT's get that large cooler on NB, a passive heatsink on SB and PWM.
so theres 3 different boards..
i was wrong about there being a LT for DDR3.. looks like only UT for DDR3
but theres a UT for DDR2 also.
Working my way up on FSB.Currently at 515X9(e8400) at this moment.Love how this board recovers from operator error:up: .
Trying to find the correct gtl,NB and SB settings.Appears sensitive in those areas.Board will run fine(superpi 1m) with most settings at auto up to 470fsb for me.
Well for those whom are on Water Cooling the UT version means more trouble to uninstall the stock sinks...
About the P35 transpiper: anyone knows how tis the installation procedure? Does it uses those PWM screw holes in the X38 and X48?
I was wondering if installing just the transpiper is possible and is the PWM area could benefit from that as the rest of my system is on water...
The transpiper installs fine and easy, but in my case it didn't make much difference. The thing that made a difference for me was removing whole heatpipe assembly, replacing TIM and then replacing heatpipes and sinks. Out of the bos, the sink bolts were loose and needed to be tightened.
Putting Ram sinks on the CPLs dropped my pwm temps too. Of course airflow through there is the most important thing.
Then again this new transpiper is maybe much better.
Hummm, how did you install yours?
I was thinking about installing it just on the PWM and not touching the CPU and NB (tha would bring heat to the mix).
So what do yo think of this:
http://i25.tinypic.com/28gxoba.jpg
I tried every combo, with the copper plate, without copper plate, fan on transpiper and not etc..
I ended up not using the transpiper at all and temps for chipset and pwm are fine - always below 40c even under prime load for hours at 4.3ghz.
I still think it's worth trying all the configurations though - it's fun. I think PcCI2iminal had some good results with the copper plate.
Take a look at these posts -

Again this is old transpiper and the new one may be awesome. Just posting this for somone who asked about p35 transpiper
Great feedback thanks. I am currently using 2 small fans one inside the case blowing on top of pwm and the other outside the case taking hot air out of the pwm, they ar fine and temps are much better I was just wondering if that bulky transpiper would do me any good. But now I'll leave it as it is.
Fedex just delivered my board, it showed in good shape and the packaging seems right,ie the Heatsink was in a seperate box as well as other accesories and packaged nicely.
Waiting on an Enzotech NB block to be delivered before the install, really hope it shows today.
Larry
edit; just looked and mine is Rev A00
Hope you don't be frustrated like I was with Enzotech, I mis read the specifications that said they where compatible with 1/2 and 3/8 systems but they came only with 1/2 fittings so I had to return the Enzo and trade it for the DD MPC Universal as Sidenwinder can't open the retail box to throw in 3/8 fittings ;-(
So I will probaly have to wait till Monday...
EDIT
About the Rev I hope this won't mean a lesser OC like on the X38's... Mine is A00 too and some here got A1...
On the revsion number. Is it located below the front panel connectors in this picture?
ah crap again
my asus HD3870x2 ROG doesnt work on this board
already failed on Mars,DFI p35 UT, p5n32esli
worked fine on maximus and striker formula 2.
thought it was a pcie 2.0 issue
dudes since i cant even post and before i go out and get another gpu.
whats the default setting for the pcie in ure bios..
help ppl..is it 1.0a??..
yeah dude my friends saphire 3870x2 also works fine with all the boards i mentioned
its just that asus HD3870x2 4DVi ROG version that is picky..
one good news..
the coolit freezone fits.. barely on the LT..
so can somebody telling me or post the bios screenshot of the pcie options..
hope theres a pcie 2.0 setting..
@ Jor3lBR I did specify 3/8" barbs, so I should be good there, I think it was 3 bucks more. USPS tracking says it got to my home town at 10:04 AM today, so I should have my block the latest=tomm. :)
@ Forsaken1, Thank you for that, as well as pointing me to this board from a thread you started. Under 1 of the slots it says A00, but as you show, mine is also a Rev A1. Thanks again :)
Larry
My board is on the Fedex truck for delivery today so hopefully by the time i get home i'll have it in hand.
Well, I should know how it clocks either later today or tomm sometime as my Enzo just showed :D Having a bit Too good of a day here, somethings gotta go bad :)
Larry
edit; On the Enzotech you can swap the mount plate end for end,(upside down, and while the fittings are installed), so the fittings are on an angle from front to back, instead of directly up and down. It does not cover the entire NB, but its seems to cover enough. Pretty slick looking block tho.
That's where the Rev number is (3rd Slot) Pci:

Thanks.R.A00.
Set FSB working with clock generator number CY28551LFXC.

Get those boards up fellows.Getting lonely here.At 540x6 FSB.
Are the bridge coolers adequate to take my QX6700 to 3.6-3.8ghz 24/7? The NB looks good and i'll add a fan to it but the SB concerns me as it's passive. I have a Spirit II on my P5N32 that I can swap over or I could get the Enzotec SLF-1. I've got a G92 (no Xfire) so space shouldn't be an issue.

SHIz, as soon as I read that my heart sank. I'm really insecure about this chip. I hope to the gods it's a good one. my old e6700 did 3.5 @ 1.55v :(Quote:
Uhh, Problem with that, I
No deal! Get yer dirty hands off my baby :D
