I've done it but i don't know if the mod worked, how can i check if my cpu is now a 166MHz chip?
Isn't there a jumper to change on the nf7?
WOW!
So by modding my 1700+ to a 166MHz Bus on the chip it should get me far greater overclocks on my nF7 S r2?
And I just join that L12 bridge?
Do you guy's think a little peice of wire and clear tape will stay on and work it's just a thoght I had. I see look's like someone used supper glue so Y not something like shipping tape clear with a little peice of wire and place the tape where the wire closes the 3 L12 bridge
I HAVE DONE THIS AND IT DID NOT WORK FOR ME
Hey pc ice, can i do the 3.3v psu mod with a couple resitors in a series or sumthin dood?
also ive been stuck at 194 max not stable do u guys think connecting an l12 might stagbilize me at higher fsb?
yeah 8k3a, did the l12 mod seemed the same so i decided to try to get my 3.3v rail up from 3.24. I went to do the mod u describe but then i remember the PSU having 2 pots and couldnt remember what the second pot did, i knew one did 12v/5v and it turns out the other lil pot is for 3.3v WooohOoo.
so i tweaked that pot and me 12/5v pot and now im at 12.16, 5.05 and 3.42 wooot!
hafta try high fsb again, do u guys think 3.3v rail being fixed is good for fsb?
awesome dood, thanks for the tips wish i hadda unlock multi to play with i hate cranking her up to 13x194 cuz i need 1.95 for 2.52 to be stable. where 2.4 is rock solid at just 1.8vcore (13x185)
so far ive hard modded the cpu's default vcore to 1.65 (for a diff board) and tried unlocking 13+ multi's with no success so ive got my 5th L5 blown for a default of 13. Just cant seem to enable the high bit multi's. May reconnect my fifth L5 to get all my lower multi's accessable again and try for higher fsb now that ive done the L12 and PSU tweaks.
thanks again for your help dood.
From what I have read you should be able to wire the to red pin holes together to make your 2100(266) a 2700(333) by default. I'am going to be tring this after I have setup my NF7-s on my 8rda.

is this good for a 400W ps ?? And If I do this ps mod will I be able to get a bit more from my OC ??
I see that your 12+ and 3.3 is kinda low is it about the same as in bios?
yeah would it help or not really ?
Say what?? +12 and 3.3 low?? Uhh, last time I checked 12.54 is well over 12v... I have an Antec Tru 430 and mine sits at 11.6 for the +12, 3.22 for the 3.3 and 4.95 for the +5v. If anything his +5 is a little low but not too bad. I guess I'm missing something here since I'm not as hardcore as you guys! :)
Those rails look fine to me.
pc ice you would have a pick of your Ps ?? If i saw i would give it a go but I am stupid whit plans LOL
And I dont have a brown wire DAMM
I dont have a cam damm
I've been reading success stories of the L12 mod all over, but I did'nt quite understand why you would have to change the 8bit value? The abit nf7 rev2 gives you access to all multipliers whatever 8bit value you have, so I don't think it would change anything...
Am I missing something here?
Hey. The mod is not for multipliers but for default fsb of the cpus :DQuote:

I think 133Mhz cpus improve fsb ocing by making them 166MHz, and 166MHz cpus the other way round :)
But the WHY is what I do not know
But who cares  It works :D
as far as the PSU issues go doods do like i did take urs apart look and see if u have pots if u do set it up to work without cover on top your pc say start your puter to the pc health screen in bios and tweak the pots inside the psu very carefully. U may have to take note of the position there in break the lil dab of glu seal and put em where u remember them being at~ then boot the puter and adjust em.
Be very careful not to touch anything but the pots, if u really want to be safe get a plastic screwdriver specially for adjusting pots for like 2 bux at Rad shack.
But that would be the L12 mod to make it default to 166fsb. I don't see any misunderstanding in that. I'm wondering on why you would also have to change the 8bit value... Never heard of anyone else mentioning having to do that if they can allready select low multipliers from their bios.Quote:

I'll be ordering a NF7-S V 2.0 soon and in short, I just need to close the bridges to L3 & L12 as you have done ?Quote:

Had a quick look earlier at my week 19 1700+ and the bridges have been miniturised even further, so I don't envisage this being an easy task.
Anyone done these mods via the wire trick and if so care to tell me which pins I should be shorting ?
TIA

Link to Workarounds article and FSB_Sense articles, maybe some others...to get detailed info on which pins/sockets relate to the various bridges, and where they are located in the grid of pins/sockets for modding with fine wire u-loops/jumpers.

hmm i got a xp 1800+ 0322 with the new design.. what about the L12 mod with the new design? any idea ?
Just try and tell us :)
Errr... guys.. I think I screwd it up somehow. I did the L12 mod, mounted the stuff, cleard CMOS and booted into BIOS.
I no longer have the option to run "default" on my CPU, the only choice in CPU Operating Speed menu is "user defined" !!??
The values under softmenu defaulted to 100fsb, multi 5 and CPU interface disabled. I changed it to 133x11 enabled CPU-interface and booted up. So far its working ok.
How is the NF7-S BIOS supposed to behave when you do the L12 mod with a 1700 DLT3C (mine is from 0308), anyone have that combo?
EDIT: ITS WORKING!!! LOL!! I couldn't get more than about 215fsb before and now I'm at 230!! Haha, this is fun!!
EDIT2: Forgot to say THANK YOU!! :D
What does it say when you first boot after the mod is done?
I don't know if mine is successful
dude , i 'm always amazed when ppl go from 220Mhz bottleneck to 235-240Mhz just this L12 trick ;)
well happy that my trick finally got a dedicated / working thread at Xtrem :D
next step : making it a sticky ;)
To check that : it is really easy , just clear cmos, then reboot : the cpu start at 11*100Mhz, then enter bios save and exit. reboot and look at the FSB speed in bios or in windows: it should be 166Mhz.Quote:

In the other hand, this trick will be considered successfull if you can get at least 20Mhz better overclock on your FSB.
I was wondering about the 200Mhz trick anyone did try it ? last time i did, my comp won't boot, it didn't like somehow the 11*200 don't know why
nice o/c :slobber:
but bandwidth is too low , I got 3703/3430 in sisoft with OCZ EL 3500 @ 2-11-2-2 @ 250Mhz
try to enable cpu interface and uppin your multiplier up to the max you can
with 250Mhz and some amazing cooling in order to get 10X, a guy reached 3900 on sisoft with 2.5-7-3-2, i'm aiming that bandwidth but my watercooling has reached it's limit past 2.4Ghz :/
there's an easier way to do the L12 mod
to turn 133 to a 166 FSB all u need to do is find FSB_Sense 1 pin on the CPU (AH30) and pull it low (tie it to any nearby ground Vss pins) i.e. AH28
Gonna try it later my self but I am 100% confident this mod should definately work
