ok I'm really tired and have a headache, could someone who actually made sense of that mess please tell me if thats a worthwhile card or not?
cheers, Ed.
It's replacing pretty much the x1800xl/xt products, which are outdated, and it will be replaced itsself by it's doppleganger the rv570 ASAP, to fight the 7900gt. Kinda the same thing appears to happening with rv560 replacing the x1600/x1800gto series to go against the 7600gt. All should be good parts in their price-range, at least by looking at specs...
I imagine when overclocked it'll be slightly faster than a X1800XT. The 1.4ns memory is indeed a nice middle-ground as well, I likey, 600+/1400+ should be good, even at 12/36. It should indeed be worth it's $300, as that is the going rate of an x1800xt and this should end up faster when overclocked on decent cooling me thinks. They are pitting it to the 7900gt afterall, and from the looks of it, the 19GT scores similar to a x1800xt at stock from the comparisons i've seen on the x1800xtvs7900gt.
Pipes and overclocks are the questions indeed to answer if it's another deal worthy of the standards of the 9500pro/GTO2 or not, but regardless, it looks like the GT/GTO will be good cards.
Judging by the statements in the article though...If an X1900XL ever sees the light of day after rv570 is released, that will be an EXCELLENT card, basically a 256mb 1900XT in disguise. Too bad they didn't release it now, if indeed the GT's are all cores that have a broken quad. :(
We might get lucky because I've heard that they have such good yields with the R580 cores that many of the GTs will just be bios locked which leave someone who's handy with a hex editior to fix that up and we get a 16/48 card for cheap.
thank you very much turtle ^^ :)
I do so hope they unlock, although I really should hang on an go 512mb shouldnt I? oh well here comes the headache again...
Ed.
Even the x1800XL score is low, so it seems pretty even. When I had the x1800XL it did between 7400-7500 in 05 easy. Stock.Quote:

EDIT:BTW Gainward, Xpertvision & Palit are made from the same factory. Xpertvision 7900GT 512MB & Gainward Bliss 7900GT 512MB is exactly the same :D
the 7900GT score looks low.. and I was expecting a little bit worse performance because ATi is too bandwidth hungry to work at its peak with just 256Mb Ram
Those 3DMark2001 scores look really low. The way they setup the bar graphs is bad statistics and misleading. They used a P4 to bench the cards as well.Quote:

The only surprising thing is the MSRP of $299...where as most were expecting $349.
Nice. Although the vaporware launch isn't.

Just saw the benchies at HKEPC.
With a little OC, this will be the first 10k 05 @ $299 card.

Very tempting at US$299...unfortunately they always end up being quite a bit more expensive when they hit Australian shores :slap:
7900GT can do that easily or doesn't voltmod count? Even 1.4voltmod is enough for most ppl to achieve 10k afaik. :DQuote:

Also 1.4vmod is easy to do: http://hem.bredband.net/artjac/7900GTvmodd004.JPG - so I think X1900GT will have a tough competition beating vmodded 7900GTs. :)
Yeah and we already have $279 X1800XT 256mb that can beat 11k in 05. So technically, yes, maybe the first $299 card to beat 10k, but not that big a deal really.Quote:

maybe he means hit 10k stock?
Don't think so.Quote:

Really? oh right. Well it was close anyway. That said, mikeguava seems to have come very close with 9.8kQuote:

So whats the scale now?
x1800gto/x850xt < x1800xt 256mb < x1800xt 512mb < x1900gt < x1900xt < x1900xtx?
im waiting for 256mb X1800XT prices to drop to $199 :)
x1900gt was actually in-stock at places like Best Buy before the official announcement.
Of course, the prices are still not good, and major sites like Newegg still don't have it :(
