Of course, due to the price difference, it's 100% unfair to compare the 2. That opteron system costs more than the down payment on a Bently.

However, that CPU score is too much for conroe to overcome, plain and simple.

p.s. Ahmad, the only 3dmark that doesn't depend on CPU now is 3dmark03. 01,05, and 06 all take a powerful processor/processors to hammer out good scores.

Yeah 2.16 Ghz Conroe lightly OCed on stock heatsink and volts versus dual 285 Opty system at 3.2 Ghz on watercooling hmmmm.

I think the Conroe did a pretty good job. Maybe give it 3.8 Ghz and some crazy ram speeds will give the 2x285 setup a run for its money ;)

Conroe looks to be well ahead of AMD but if AMD can have 4 cores then of course that evens it up and so it looks like it will be an interesting battle in the months ahead.

Having said that lets leave it till then before getting into arguments about what beats what as this thread is tending towards "the video card I have not yet got with the cpu I have not yet beats the stuff you have .." and the 3dmark team section is mainly about reuslts not words so when the stuff arrives make it scream and then post results.
