bachus, ive spent a lot of time trying to squeeze 5 more mhz out of the memory, and it just isnt having it. I will go ahead and do my screen shots now that i know this is pretty much the limit.
I was able to do a 1m pi at 290 8-3-4-3-1T just once... but that was luck lol.

Well i always thought that heatspreaders just hindered the overclockabiliy of your rams, as the contact and heat transfer isn't very efficient, even if lab tests from the ram manufacturers have proven otherwise.Quote:

i've been trying to find RAM that can run in the yellow slots in my DFI NF4 mobo. crucial ballistix/G.skill etc. no joy. tried these patriots and they worked sweet. got them to 270mhz @ 2.5-3-3-7 and will leave them at that

just noticed that OP got these to 2.5-3-3-5. wonder if mine will do too.
p.s, anyone with this RAM tried getting tighter timings than this? i.e 2.5-3-2-5 etc?

I've tried orange and yellow slots and 704BTA and 0406 with the same stable 250MHz. There is not even enough headroom to tighten the timings.
I just got some last week, and I'm already RMA them because the :banana::banana::banana::banana:ed up my windows install. The highest I could get those to boot was 245mhz, lol. I'll let ya know what happens when the next set comes in.

nice review. i was telling myself not to upgrade to 2gb until i get a DDR2 system. i think i just forgot about that...how well does the Patriot LLK 2x1gb overclock?
Well me and another user, Playah believe that the chips were changed. In order to get the advertised 250MHZ you might need to crank up the voltage to 2.9V. Patriot forums said that should be the highest. Playah was only able to hit DDR500 after increasing to 2.9V.
We bought our ram around the same time him from the egg and me from zzfly. However, mine only needs 2.7V to hit 250Mhz. But it only maxes out on 260 using yellow slots.
I got the RMA'd ram, and it's behaving just like the former. Can someone post up some timings (from the newer batch) cause the timings that bachus has up are just a no go. It just screwed up my windows config file, after booting up FOUR times. Can you believe that?
Just figured out that my board probably just isn't compatible with this RAM. Stupid picky DFI bull:banana::banana::banana::banana:.
try 2.9V and stock 3-4-4-8 timing that is the advertised setting.
maybe if u keep RMA'ing you'll get the UCCC.

I got it to run @ 250, 3-4-4-8, 2.8v all tests ok except Half Life 2 (the ultimate memory stability program :p)

I know the general rule of yellow slots for UTT/BH & orange for TCCD, but does size of modules matter? what about these? they work seem to both :shrug:

Nice, good to see they worked out great for ya. I don't know about the ultra's slots, but 265 ain't to shabby. I think the best test for memory is dual spi 32M, and then a few hours of BF2 or BF2142, since EA really knows hows to screw :banana::banana::banana::banana: up, if you can survive an EA game, your stick could also probably survive a nuclear blast.Quote:

cpu: 330 x9 (2.87 GHz)

UCCC should be in the 2.6-2.8 range, I have some g.skill UCCC that I've played with a bit and voltage over ~2.75 doesn't seem to help much at all.Quote:

Here's what I'd do for UCCC, loosen the timings to 3.0-4-4-8 @ 2.7v and start them right around 250-255mhz - it should work like a champ. Make sure you read up on how the a64 memory controller handles dividers, it's a simple calculation but not the same as the 7/10 bios setting would lead you to believe. I had that same problem forever, it's much easier to OC on the a64 platform once you understand this.

update: Although 260 1:1 was stable for Memtest86 and superpi, PCMARK2005 bsod-ed
I reread THE DEFINITIVE DFI A64 OVERCLOCKING GUIDE 's memory section (I know the forums are currently down, I grabbed a pdf from one of the members in the chatroom)
So I loosened the memory timings for pretty much everything, and it seems stable now, with PCAMRK 05 score of 4540
I'm not sure about the other timings, they depend on the combination of your motherboard & your ram. I use an Abit AN8, it sounds like you use a DFI, so our settings are going to be different even though we both use UCCC.Quote:

I just posted this over on the g.skill board - I'm running my UCCC at 2.4v 265/1T 24/7 stable. The biggest thing that helped me was making sure I picked the right Tref for my ram (3120, aka 15.6us). I had to flash a modded bios to set Tref, then things were a lot easier. I think also that UCCC likes weak drive on DFI, I know it likes normal drive on the AN8 - weak drive crashes the machine on boot.

if you're sure it's UCCC go look at gskill technician's settings for F1-4000USU2-2GBHZ on your DFI board in the g.skill support forum, whatever settings he gives should work.
my sticks work the best in orange...they can boot in yellow but it causes my BF2 to crash after a while despite a 16hr prime stable test. There is no more crashes in BF2 after i switched to orange. it's probably because they are not UCCC's anymore.Quote:
