While it is true that AMD can (and almost certainly will at some point) regain the performance throne in the CPU fight, Conroe appears to be the equivalent of a kick between the legs.
Edit: And lowfat, we are in the process of seeing just that.

heheh MM can still take this score down easily with his new rig.......so until people start benching quad conroe based cores i don't think you'll be able to move the "intel can't touch this" dude to page5 just yet ;)Quote:

I don't understand why it's the 3d score that's so high, and not the cpu score?
Of course, the low clocks vs abt 14k or so for A64 3ghz is nice, but...
Very nice, great run there as I am about 1K short when I come down to those clocks. Im running LOD 0 as well.
No AMD trash talking, give us a break with that crap please.
Among other things, it alleviates the CPU bottleneck on the graphics. This can also be seen in 06...it's CPU score is great (but certainly not amazing like this is), but where it really shines is actually in the 3D part, where it gets rid of a lot of the bottleneck caused by the drivers.Quote:

Why didn't you OC the chip so more? (ok, you gave it a much higher busspeed by lowering the MP right?)
I realy can't wait to see this chip going 4 Ghz
he probably didn't want to break his chip on the first few nights of OCing. He'll probably make a few higher clocked benches sooner or later. patience :)
When Intel will release them in retail ? In June ?
july-sept..
I can understand that :) but just want to mention the higher fsb and lower MP. (it's a E6600 right? so standaard @ 2,4 Ghz/1066 FSB)Quote:

now show us please some really game-benches! i would like to know how the setup performs in fear with 1600x1200 and all on! and i would like to see some other games.
everything else is just kiddy-stuff and tells nothing about the real performance.
i am not a amd-fanboy or something. i am going for conroe, too.
FEAR is almost entirely graphics card limited, benchmarking it would be pretty much pointless.Quote:

Great result FCG!
I think that a MP 8x is the highest available on his conroe. Notice CPUZ is saying that it is an 2.13GHz, which means his chip is a 8x266=2128MHz. So much higher clocks arent we gonna see because the board doenst go that much higher in FSB speed. Let's hope it does! I know it can OC the FSB by 30
% and the max bios setting is 333MHz so: 333MHz*1.33=432.9Mhz, so highest speed is: 432.9*8=3463Mhz
sorry, read over it, just woke up.
pretty sure FCG said his contact told him the Conroe he has is good for 4GHz on air......now that would be a sight for sore eyes :slobber:
I cant wait to see the Extreme Edition, if it has a proper unlocked multiplier (12x - 60x).Quote:

alright, but when you run am3, i will see the 160k ;)
I don’t think this AM3 comparison is fair to AMD. First of all You are comparing new Intel to older(Existing)AMD chip. Conroe Against AM2 is what I consider fair.
Secondly, you are using 2 different video cards one better than the other.
Thirdly, AM2 will have higher HTT (not 216 as shown here). So both chips should be compared at their maximum FSB/HTT. I hear AM2's are going to have 333HTT instead of 200 as previously thought and reviewed.
You would consider unfair, if newly released A64 was compared to Intel's Celeron or Socket 478 and before 755's introduced.
And as others have noted, we need a comprehensive comparison of every available benchmarking software in order to conclude which chip overcomes the other, and against AM2, and not older scores.
Never the less I Congrat all Intel enthusiasts for all the excitements the new Intel chip is giving you. We will wait until AMD has offered us their new product and then decide which gives better price/performance to us end users.
Cant w8 to get my hands on conroe. Very nice result FCG :)
yesssss, join the Dark Side :lsfight:Quote:

i just recieved my S775 Watercooler, so I'm just waiting to set up my new rig :D but still no Conroe Mobo except Intels Bad Axe...

Give credit where it is due, right now this is something special and Congrats on that score which you got so easily it seems :toast:
It sure is going to be an interesting year......
Obi
completly awesome result!
congratz :rehab: :toast:
wonna see the cpu on a better board&cooling ;)
He broke the world record on air at 2.7ghz, and you're talking about fair? AMD have pushed the AM2 launch forward so we'll see very soon, but this thread is about a world record.Quote:
