sounds like you may need to slipstream i975x drivers into a WinXP SP2 CD. google for a guide on how to do this....then install with that CD. let us know how it goes.
I think this chip needs new BIOS with latest microcode update.
good idea , maybe he could give "ultimate bootcd " a try to see a little bit more where the conflict comes from . just guessing..Quote:

this is what they wrote (you know it ) :
Dear Armin,
As this CPU is expected somewhere in September, we can not confirm that it will or will not work.
Kind regards, Mit freundlichen Grüßen, Met vriendelijke groet,

Nothing to do with win XP CD or drivers if he can't boot from CD. Otherwise, he could have just used linux live CD :)
hicookie .. oh this is uglyQuote:

As you can see on the screenshot windows itself isn't the problem, the bios freezes exactly where it wants to boot, linux doesn't work either... Aopen give us new bios please :DQuote:

Lets remember charlies merom booted in
a simple callistoga compatible pc laptop
and with a mac mini (callistoga) as well !
this is
a minor problem for sure
Since you're running a beta BIOS, have you tried any other version?
If Merom can work in at least some laptops at this point I really can't see why it wouldn't work with this mobo.
yes thats my point, i would try the first bios and run it with bios default , vga card, one ram stick, sata/usb disabled.Quote:

Later wanna see few numbers @ Stock and OC too...
what about booting from an external hdd with windows files on it.
I think he can't boot of any device, be it cdrom, external hdd or floppy
Not really :) I have a P4-M here, and when I put that in a P4GPL-X it says : "Intel uCode missing" and it just boots and works fine (apart from setting the Vcore to 1,7V instead of 1,3V)Quote:

It gets to the very last part of posting info before it load NVRAM, we never see that message that would normally come up with Yonah CPU.
