Any idea when Sapphire's Manta will be released?

It's listed at some shops here, but nowhere in stock yet. Interesting sidenote, it's cheaper than Grouper (about 40 euros (~$48)), which is in stock.
I can't wait for the RD580 Sapphire board to get in stock. I think it'll be my next mobo :)
I wonder what effect does the number of ICS PLL chips (clock generators) have on a mobo?.... (One on the Manta & Sapphire, two on the ASUS, three on the upcoming DFI RDX3200....)

Nice work there too!

yes they are coming up in a day or two, busy writing a paper sorry :(
STOP posting replies as to why you haven't performed such-n-such benchmark and get to composing that paper.... :stick:Quote:

WOW, I sound like a parent, don't I??
Whoa whoa whoa! :D This is quite nice redesign of the Sapphire R480 mobo :D
I just don't getting the idea of the PCI slot. I can understand the only one PCI slot well - except a X-Fi - for what else one need PCI, right?
(okay, there is some reasons like special cards for satelite data transmission and such, but these are more rare cases... ceratainly not for this mobo, or maybe they does work, when one use the mobo sound, witch is supposedly very good tough :p:)
But my main problem with the PCI slot design is fairly simple - it is too close to the PCIE slot. The board is offering two GFX cards to run in SLI mode, but from the distance I bet that NO cooling solution except maybe watercooling - just looking at my DD NV-68 v1.1 block - might fit.
Hmmm, no, not even this one. As I inspected, the top of the block just (slightly, but it does) overlaping the hole in the next PCI slot bellow the AGP card :p:
Therefore in SLI mode, the PCI slot is useless.
That's a flaw for me.
I like the R480 for having only two PCI slots with BIG distance from the PCIE one.
But this...
Also as obsolete PATA guy I did not welcome ditching one PATA channel - tough in favor of the SATA connectors, seems...
Othervise - good job. HTT 1600Mhz looking somewhat neat and speak something about the chipset abilities to handle OC pretty well
And the bios settings require a loud applaud!

I completley agree, this pci slow should not be so close to pcie...Quote:

Converters can be gotten for relativley cheap, its time to move on imo. get rid of it and floppy all together i say.Quote:

That board looks great! And it seems to have a good tweaking BIOS.
:woot: Sapphire!
I just got my Grouper yesterday when i read about Manta being just down the road. Now i'm considering either keeping Grouper or send it back and wait for Manta.
What would you do? :toast:
I would keep it - looks like the Manta is longer to wait one and not so so different. Tought the new chipset and HTT 1600Mhz possible clearly show that it has seriously more kick under the hood of just redesigned Grouper RX480 :p:
Exactly these "thos" are giving me the bloody headache about keeping it or not ;)Quote:

On the other hand grouper is one kick ass board, one of the most stable and predictable overclocking boards ive ever had, not to mention it fly's!
Stability surely is something I absolutely want. I've had the SLI-D and Expert lately, and I really loved both of em. But sometimes they just had a bad day when they threw lots of bluescreens to me out of nowhere. The other day, everything was stable again.Quote:

Thanks for your help :toast:
how much vcore and vdimm available?
Well i have this board actually makes it to retail in a timely fashion. Sapphire dropped the ball big time its first go around. The manta Looks very promising :)
Well, I can't even if I wanted to. First at all, my floppy is also Mistumi 7+1 FA404A card-reader as well, so it stays. Second, on the PATA I have not only HDD, but also Zip and IDE drawer (among the NEC 2510A drive).Quote:
(only one PATA channel topic)
Revv23 - Converters can be gotten for relativley cheap, its time to move on imo. get rid of it and floppy all together i say.
And with the PATA one could easily backup the partion with win, so restoring win to orginal state is less that 5min work. Boot from ZIP or CD and either from HDD in IDE drawer or from CDRW restoring the backup and that it is.
If I could use DriveImage on SATA drive, I start thinking about one ;)
Sicness - Manta is not available yet and therefore your decision is deadly simple, is not it? :D ;)
steelballzz -- I believe you could redefine the question as "how high Vcore and Vdimm is stable" ;) IIRC the Grouper can do 1.55Vcore + 0.5 or 0.6V increase to the basic voltage stepping.Quote:

For rams, 4V is possible w/o any switch and then even 10% boost - 4.4V.
I seriously dubt your want to fry your poor rams with it ;)
W/O serious active cooling is going over 3.5V insane. And 3.7V can kill your CPU easily, if you Vcore is low. (eg. there is big difference between Vcore and Vdimm voltage and the layer in the CPU can't hold it)
Mark killed his 3800+ X2 cpu this way, so... 4.4V is overkill, IMHO. In long term usage even the Winbond chips can't handle it, IMHO. Maybe with watercooling them by special water-chilled loop? :stick:
PS. I quietly assuming the Manta got the same voltage regulators specs as the Grouper. I bet it is not worser, maybe only better ;)
I don't like this color :(Quote:
