Hehe you must have had the near exact same X2 3800 as my old one that did 2.87GHz ;)Quote:

Watercooling by Friday dude, i'm just waiting for my waterblock >< got everything else just sitting here
x0018 is always the good #
is there anyone got fx60 from them?:)
Man o Man I just got a 0550 upmw 170 frm tank guys I hope shell do something close to this amazing goldenchip u have here..
My 938 pin 3800 will do 2.7 but she needs 1.6 to do it and my 90c is cooking on full load 65ish :(
Nice chip but B1 must be great on air/water, terrible under phase.
Ooohh!! Nice chip man....get that thing going for R@H :D
I honestly think a 170 0550UPMW will do better because of the binning, i have more faith in 170s and their 10x multies.Quote:

nice chip absolute

I also have the same problem as you. 2800 with 1.375, 2700 with 1.3v, but 2900 takes 1.475v to be prime stable. It's super pi stable with just 1.425. You would think 1.45 would work, but it doesn't. My temps get to ~52c with the 1.475v. I mnow I could easily get 3 with wc. Gl and good find!
Chips don't scale linearly with volts.. first 100MHz bump took .075, second 100MHz bump took .1, so third bump to 3GHz will probably be 1.25-1.75, if it will do it at all. (I'd imagine it will)Quote:

So, better results on watercooling soon. And also my friend ordered from Monarch and got an 0550VPMW as well, and he's going to let me test it. I've got a 170 CCB1E 0550VPMW that just arrived at my dorm (at an engineering lab for the next 3 hours unfortunately) so as soon as i get back i'll do a lot of testing.
Problem with Monarch is next set of chips being sent out can be anything..I bought a retail 165 in late Dec..it was 0534!!
I tried to get 170 0530..as they were sending a ton of these out in late Dec..I got the 0546 xpmw..someone who had one shipped same day...got an 0530...
Monarch is too much of gamble on stepping for me
You kidding? Monarch has never let me down
Let me go through what i have ordered totally BLIND from monarch
My first venice ever
3200+ Venice LBBLE 0515 APAW - 2.9 Ghz with 1.56 volts, stable
Then an Opteron 148 not too long ago
148 Opty CAB2E 0547 GPMW - 3.2 Ghz OCCT on water, 1.6v
Then i order a 165
165 Opty CCB1E 0550VPMW - 2.85 Ghz 1.45v
And i have my friend also order a 165 at the same time
165 Opty CCB1E 0550VPMW (untested)
I LOVE MONARCH
We'll see what i get from monarch. Just got in on a coupon deal for a 165.
The deal that i posted? Hehe
My other 165 is doing 2.9 dual SP2004 on 1.5v, i'll keep everyone updated
Well the 2nd 165 does just as well as the first, 2.9 Ghz core0 starts b1tching out, anything below that is good. 2.7 Ghz ran on 1.31 volts for an hour before i stopped it.
Well for me they never sent me "good" stepping
the retail 165 was 0534 mpmw..this was a late DEC purchase...bad luck
oem 170 0546 xpmw..almost everyone who ordered around me were getting 0530 TPMW( I saw a guy a hardforum who had an oem ship the same day as mine....he gets the 0530...)
So I am sorry you can not be sure of stepping...
I did not say monarch was bad..just I would prefer to know and not take a chance becasue in my case(or luck)..I always get the "wrong" stepping...
there pricing is great but if I knew I would get ..I would jump but got "burned" twice
The 165 I ordered from Monarch can't even do 2.55 Ghz with 1.55V. I'm buying cpus that I know the stepping for from now on. I wish I had the luck some people have.
Not all CPUs are created equal. But the bad thing is, all these CCB1Es are coldbugged ><
Even if my 165 doesn't have a cold bug, you could still only get it to around 2.9 GHz at -200C. This thing was built to run at stock speeds. Too bad it wasn't put in a Dell or something.
Doesn't that piss you off? That some of the worst CPUs wind up in our hands, and many of the best CPUs will never be overclocked. A beautiful CPU that never gets overclocked... it's like it was never born, like an aborted fetus or something :P.
Gross, but true :sick:Quote:

I want to kick myself now, but hey, it's doing 2.85GHz stable, which is a 1.05GHz overclock, nothing to scoff at. And with a bit of burn in, I am hoping for 2.9GHz. Anyway, you still are doing better than my first 165 did, it was a CCBWE 0541RPMW, which is known for being like the worst stepping to get. It only did 2.50ghz at 1.6v, and then it ended up dying on me.Quote:

Worst would be what 003 mentioned, 2.5 Ghz with 1.6 volts
Average overclock on near stock volts would probably be 2.55.
most 165s do something like
2.50 stock
2.6 1.4x
2.7 1.5x
2.8 absolute tops, some benching, not prime stable.
Why dont u guys order from tankguys.com where u can specify the stepping u want?
Monarch is good but theres is no garaunties.
My 165 seems to about average at 2.75 1.5v. It will do 2.9 1.6v but the memory controller and core 0 starts freaking out.
