wow I agree with others about the quality of this review. I got more out of this than most review sites comparisons. Truely real world usability information. Very believeable stats and outcomes=trustworthy. Seems you kept an open mind to both amd and intel which is very important IMO to a comprehensive review.
I just sold off my 2.53B/IT7Max combo and the only reason I sold it was b/c I could replace it with a cheaper AMD board and cpu. I loved that IT7 Max board and that combo(actually with a 1.8A) turned my opinion of the P4 around. I still prefer AMD due to cost, but the Intel boxes do roxor as well.
Great review there M8

Zroc,
I have one more question. Do you notice the spike in Q3 score between the 200 FSB runs. One is 309.6 and the other is 340.6. Is there any explanation or reasoning why it would jump like that at the same FSB? Sort of the same for 133 FSB. Both runs were done in SC. All you did was to change the multipliers. And, there is negligible difference in memory bandwidth.
-
Sure, Ace...they're naturally going to spike, as both are 400MHz jumps in raw clockspeed.

That game/test is using CPU horsepower, memory and obviously the VC. For some reason, I thought the game relied more on system ram and the VC memory/core engine to do its thing. Or is it AMD's MMX instructions that adds the booster rocket.:p

Very well done zroc, excellent comparison, you should be writing for a major website cause this informative comparison was light years ahead of the conclusions I get from anand or toms/hardocp. You actually looked at where the performance gains happen, and not just threw a bunch of raw numbers down for us to decipher. Well done :)
-
Very Well written write-up. Alot of information in there.
-
Absolutely well done. My gratitude to you as well Zroc. Not that you need it, but your hard work warrants it anyway. It is work like this that makes me want to come back to these forums. If you ever are in my part of town, I'll buy you a drink sir Zroc. :)

Great review
zroc which bios did you use on 8rda ?
http://www.monsterboxpc.com/charts/2000.jpg
this proves the bios slowdown I stated some time ago on epox nforce2
lets take q3 for instance
from fsb 133 to 166 a boost of 28fps , then from 166 to 190 a boost of 6fps ? ;) (should have been 20~ fps gain)
JDKII
133-> 166 +11fps 166-> 190 +2 fps (should have been 8~fps gain)
so on and so on
3dmark makes it killing obvious
the scalling doesnt seem right does it ;)
on the latest 8rda/+ bios the high fsb slowdown isnt so obvious but it still exists

Thanks again, guys :)
Hmm...Skatan, I'm not sure what BIOS exactly was on there (it was the latest when I took the numbers), but it certainly looks a bit like what you described.
