The early prescotts (like when they first came out) were very hot. They used to get into the 50c idle.Quote:

I still have my socket 478 DO and E0 prescotts, they are both around 41C idle and never above 56C during full load @ 3.67ghz for the D0 and 4.05ghz for the E0. Dunno, maybe I got some decent chips from a good batch :cool:Quote:

odd way of doing it, but i dont understrand why theyve got to be so bad about it, i doubt they are going to stop people from switching brands just because they need to buy a new hsf, as it is you need new memory\cpu\mobo anyways.
am2 guys, not intel skt478 :stick:
so, bets on teething problems?
i would like to buy a new pc sometime soon and i dont want to end up with a load of buggy expensive hardware, if am2 can be released without any hardware bugs (in the cpu's or mobo's) or poor fabbing on the first batch i would be very happy.
the new hsf mounting design is a welcome, 4 holes for waterblock screws is much safer and stronger than 2.
I am willing to bet you if it is released in the next 5-6 months there will be atleast a handful of Problems.. if not going the way of 754..Quote:

Curiously, every pic of the M2 socket clearly shows that the socket itself is labeled "Socket M2" not AM2. :fact:
anyone else notice that only the Inquirer is saying that M2 is coming out soon..;)
a friend of mine was using a tdx in his watercooling setup, one side of the bracket snapped when he tried to apply pressure to the cpu it also damaged some of the traces around the mounting hole.Quote:
