rick, if my zippy doesnt fit in my case I will sell it to you.
I have a P180 and I am going to attempt some mods to make it fit, but if it doesnt... you can pick it up off me.

Guys, this is freakin amazing, I have to report that it now takes .087 LESS volts to hit my 3gig 24/7 OC. Again, that's just damn amazing. There is no reason to buy a pcp&c 800w or 1000w IMO.
Btw I am on water again with what's in sig.

@fareastgq: What PSU did you have before this 700W Zippy?
I just got a full refund on a PCP&C 1 KW because it will not power my Supermicro H8QC8. Some individual rail is overloaded and the protection kicks in after a second. The same board posts fine on a OCZ 520W - which is single-rail.Quote:

I don't want the headache of modding the PSU for noise, and the Athena is supposed to be pretty quiet.
Well, this is by far the best quality PSU I have seen.
Ignoring the sub 300 dollar price tag, I see this as better than a Power PC and Cooling 850 watt.
Everything is damn near perfect! I dont mind the fan noise that much.. a high quality made in japan sanyo denki fan is always nice, but that is me. I quickly ripped mine open to make sure that mine was similarly pictured to bens. My EMI filter is made by delta, that was the only difference that I saw, which is a good thing.
The biggest caps were rubycons, there were two located in front of the transformers. The second biggest caps were chemicon, i saw a few rubycon ~2200uF caps, and the small caps seemed to be nichicon. The huge main caps, the fact that they were rubycons blew me away.
The mosfets were infineon which, again, is awesome.
I love the fact that I am not paying for lame cable wrap, stupid colored lights, flashy paint jobs... just performance..
Edit: Woohoo! It fits in my Antec P180! But Barely!!
This thing rocks
I'll be ordering the Zippy 700W but untill it gets here I added the AMD fan to my PCP&C 510 SLI. gave it a quick test this morning and all seemed fine. However being a perpetual noob I'm unclear on the 3rd blue wire. Because of the connector situation on the 510 SLI I cut the wire on the AMD fan and connected the red and black wires. I left the blue wire loose. Will this be ok or do I need to change something.
I ordered the Athena 850 Watts (single rail). Now I'm eager to give it a spin.

Yep the Zipppy 700W has 2x6 pin pci express connectors (Emacs 700W ATX PS 24+8+4+2 x6pin, 8.75" DEEP, 8big+2small connectors)
got mine today. Sweet looking supply. Swapped out the fan and in the process of sleeving it now.
This things a :banana::banana::banana::banana: to sleeve because the wires all are interlocked in each other.....ugh...
well i'll be ordering the athena in a few days for a Bud ..... seems his OCZ 600w is not holding up to the load ...... so he'll swap it to his Kids PC
gonna talk him into the Athena 850w ( been reading about the Single 12v Rails )
and if it seems to be a Good one ......... i'll get one for my self :D
Unless of corse Uopt gives a poor Review of his
looks like we'll see a battle between the zippy 700 and athena 850, woo.
[copied from the other thread]
My Athena 850 W arrived.
First impression is very good. Is a nomal size PSU, i.e. small. The fan is much quieter than the one in the PCP&C 1 KW, although at close range it has a slight metallic rattle to it, so it is not in same class as my Seasonics. It has separate 4 and 8 pin EPS12W, none of the shared 4+4 rubbish. I like that it comes with caps to close unused connectors. Too many SATA connectors and not enough Molex, though.
Newegg packaging sucks.
I don't have my powermeter connected to measure efficiency but the exhaust air stays absolutely cool when powering my DC Opteron at its max overclock, cooler than the OCZ 520W is. This is certainly a high-efficiency PSU.
It holds the overclock on that Opteron with sustained dual-primes just like the OCZ does (which e.g. my Zalman couldn't).
Glad you guys have great result with the Zippy, they use top notch components in this beast so it doesn't matter what kind of load I threw at it, the voltage always remain ROCK SOLID, I love this thang!! :D And yes it came with the 8pin power connector along with 2 PCI-X and some SATA connectors.
The Athena has higher power rating but it's almost half the size of the Zippy 700 or PCP&C 850 so the quality of the components they used is very suspicious, uOpt...if you don't mind can you please open it up and take a few shots of the Athena's internal so we can see what kind of stuff in it?
That's the main reason why I stay far away from split rails :D :DQuote:

I have lost two CPUs in the last days, the first ever. While I don't think this PSU is a likely cause it's on the list of possibilities.
Just to let you all know that this post alone has been enough for me to order the Zippy 700W instead of either the PCP&C 1kw or 850W PSUs.
However, I really want to sleeve this beast since it looks like medusa's head dipped in a rainbow. I think it will be quite the challange but I'll hopefully post some pics within the next few weeks.
Are you guys replacing the fan with the stock AMD fan from the retail box (I'm buying an Opty 170 retail version)? Any other recommendations for something better than the stock AMD fan (i'm doubting the quality)?
I got my Zippy 700 W and it works on the Supermicro H8QC8 with no problems.
It does not work with my SLI-DR with the Vdimm jumper in the 4.0 V position.
It's running my Supermicro for a while now but it is so loud that I want to replace it even though it is in a separate room.
I started a new thread collecting data on high-power PSUs. Please contribute. This nonsense has to stop.
Does anyone know if this will fit in a lian-li PC60?
I am going phase, so the P180 has got to go.
I am curious about this also, as I have a PC-60 Plus...Quote:

I ended up sending this Zippy 700W to performance-pcs.com for custom sleeving and modulation of the cables. It was well worth the $100 since it still cost less than a PCP&C. The fan is indeed the loudest part of my PC (all air cooling) so I may try the AMD fan that also came w/ my Opty 170.
I may opt for the 2nd fan in front to make sure nothing goes bad.
Although this is a beast, I'm having slight doubts whether it can truly power my X1900 Crossfire cards. My OC's aren't great 680/800 and I have the new Zalman VF900 fans and nice copper RAM sinks. The other reason is that I get small wavy distortions across my CRT screen when the CPU is being used to do anything. It's very faint but you can see how I might think this is power-related since it only happens when I stress the CPU a bit (and by a bit I mean opening Firefox even).
Can anyone assure me that this can indeed handle the power draw from 2 X1900 Crossfire cards? Thanks!
yes, it can handle the power draw from 2 x1900 no problem. I've done it on mine, no problem!
sweet PSU :D
