I am also wondering how long they're gonna keep that crappy chipset cooler. Is it so difficult to change it to something more efficient :slapass:

I can break 1000HTT with mine. I don't see a problem with it.
Or, if you like, I can drop the multi and break 400FSB too.
As I pointed out earlier, there is an extra inductor and capacitor - which suggests an LC filter, which suggests filtering at a very specific frequency. As if there was something a bit nasty on the eXpert that has now been notched out.
No-one else with an engineering approach to this here? craig588? What is that chip with the redesign around it?
 apart from the new caps, the only difference i can see is the re-orientation of the two caps between the cpu socket and the first pci-e slot
P_1 they look the same as the normal expert board to me

What's the point of this???
Just cap mod original DFI NF4, like people did to the IC7s, NF7s, DFI NFII LPB and other popular past boards.
:( I was thinking of the original nf4 then. The original one had little cubes as mosfets.Quote:

is the raid controller updated at all to the SIl3134?
It looks like the mosfet sinks are smaller (in height)
Still 3114 according to WWM's pics.
i think you're right  :wth:Quote:

any new options in bios?
I've heard that this board is not going to be produced in large volumes. It’s a special edition, or should I say rare edition. Its to mark so many years of DFI’s presence in the motherboard market.
Also I think it sucks hard that they don’t intend to change the chipset fan, passive chipset cooling is the way forward! Also no SLI x16, or 8 phase power :( They need to take a few pages out of ASUS’s book for sure.
This one is special for Opties and it's filled with aluminum electrolytic capacitors, it might be good !
What about the BIOS, is it the same as eXpert ?
btw, can you take a pic of the box ? hehehe

isn't that the same thing :confused:Quote:

How about the new Crossfire board from DFI? Where is that, WWM?
Its just a Expert with new caps and a bios flash.. genius.
SLI X16 is retarded. Just reduces performance. Asus demonstrated that pretty clearly.
BUT they could have upgrade the Silicon Image RAID controller, and given us some SATA ports like the ones everyone else is using. You know the ones that dont break when u breathe on them wrong.
The chipset cooler needs to be upgraded too. Everyone has complained about it since the day the board came out, but they just ignore us. boggles the mind. A nice copper solution that was a bit larger and has a sensible design to it would be great. Dont mind if it has a fan, so long as its a HIGH quality ball bearing fan that doesnt spin any higher than 3krpm.
:stick: Looks the same to me
I wont be upgrading from my expert unless it gives me at least 150 mhz more from my CPU :P

What are the advantages of low ESR caps?

Thanks windwithme. All this info is greatly appreciated.
I would like a few questions answered, so i'll do it here instead of in another thread:
1) From the image posted above regarding the comparison, are the PCI-e slots the same distance apart in the Expert and Venus?
2) What's the difference between 4 phase power, and 3 phase? How is the "phase" calculated? Is it 24-pin ATX, P4, and FDD?
3) SLI Bios Switch???
4) Do the Low ESR Solid Capacitors have an impact on performance between the Expert and Venus?
