If that is so this is insane :D And i u use good cooling + voltage increes u can get a lot more out of these baby's :P

Macci, is there any physical difference between the XT and XTX. I am pry going to be buying one or the other in the next day and would like to find out if a simple BIOS flash is all it would take to take the XT to XTX. I know that some have been saying some of the XT's may have 1.2 ns ram and the XTX has 1.1.Quote:

seems like reviewers should simply stop benching @ 1024x768. i dont even read that section, its like "here this card does 297fps vs 312, the gtx512 is clearly faster", base resolution + quality for high end should be 1280x1024 with SSAA and 16x aniso. They should only bench resolutions for flat panels 19"+, and always include 1920x1200 for 24" flat pannel users... only 3 of the reviews i read actually benched a 1920x1200+. and some did 75% of their testing at 1280x1024 -, that's not even relevant when you're paying 600+ for a GPU... and the score difference is within margin of error cause of cpu limitations...
CPU limitation is starting to go away with the newer drivers as they are starting to optimize for dual core. I think they still have a long way to go. By the time they finish though the quad core chips will probably be out.

I think we can now give the cards some voltage with the new ati tool 0.25 beta 12. But ati tray tools doesn't recognize the cards so the lod tweaks can't be done yet

That would really show how much the Crossfire setup is being limited by the CPU.
With everything I've read crossfire should scale much better than SLI. So running 2 cards should give you close to a 2x increase in performance. But I imagine this increase is being severely limited due to a CPU bottleneck.
The drivers being optimized to take advantage of DC will certainly help... but I fear there will still be a problem with windows limiting the efficiency of any multi threading app or process. It will be interesting to see.
I read a year ago an interview with Carmack about what % of improvement should be expected with DC...
In SS2 a 3800 x2 is 21% faster than a 3200 at medium quality...
Both have the same frequency ( 2ghz).
I don't remember the % Carmack gave....but it was around 30% i think...
So I wonder if anyone know if 40% or better is realistic?

my x800pro vivo is gett'n close to 2(21 months old iirc) years and my 9700pro is over 4 years. But voided both of them within a month. my x800 didnt make it 24 hours before it had its cooler poped, bios flashed and vgpu penciled up:D
