OCZ Phase Change Unit For $299?????

As a hardcore watercooler, I must say, that if this drops down to 200 dollars, I will no longer be cooling my cpu with water.. it will be a GPU only afair.

Philly... A blow.. hardly. Most of us watercoolers would be using phase if it wasnt for the fact that phase is so dam expensive.

The only reason that some watercoolers might not switch over is the condesnation and possibly portability isssue. I know quite a few users on XS who had a vapo and went back to water as they go to lans alot and the vapo was a bit much to lug around.

In any case, I'm not bashing the CryoZ, and I do infact want one, and will most likely buy one myself if the price gets low enough.

jeeesh, i dont like carrying my aluminum case anywhere, couldnt imagine somene with a steel case and watercooling. and im a big guy... cant imagine what some of the little geeks must do.

Oh you have no idea.. I had a full STEEL 1mm thick tower case from the mid 90's and this thing weighed 25lbs empty. I had it filled with an Iwaki pump that weighed 10 pounds alone, plus half a gallon of water and loaded with other junk.. it was 60+ lbs easy.


BUT with the watercooling systems available today, quite frankly the increase in weight over a aircooled system is minimal. Infact a air cooled system in a mid tower steel case can weigh about the same as a watercooled system in an aluminum mid tower. I recently designed a system for someone here on XS that would add only a minimal amount of weight to the case. so minimal infact that unless you didnt see the radiator you wouldnt know it was watercooled.

I want one......Hopefully prices will be similar here in the UK. Can some one tell me please how much noise these sort of things make

Phase for Home use.. Air for Lan use.. and at that Price I might have to buy two.. ONe for the CPU and the other for the GPU

pffft, 60lb's lol. Took two 24" widescreen CRT's (Sun T-Rex) and a 22" flat (Samsung Syncmaster 2200NF) to a lan once... and my case (measured at 60lb's with no water cooling gear, all air).

Have a new case now (Jencube ;) ) and a new LCD... :stick:

Well if there is a parking slot in the LANParty location and of course you drive, there is no much problem. At least here in Chile they have supermarket carts to "drive" your equipment to your tables.

Or you can do what I do.. Take a GOOD LAPTOP.. it isn't even 20lbs.. Nothing to wear one down..

GOOD LAPTOP = $$$$$ which most of us dont have.

If I had the money I would buid a Turion or Dothan (although at this poitn I would wait for Yonah or AMD's Dual core mobile) laptop that was a 17" WideScreen with the 7800go and a GB of ram.. would be nice.

But since I dont have 4k of disposable income to spend on a sweet laptop, I would drag my parts bucket of a PC to a lanparty. BUT I dont go to lanparties so its not an issue.

I have enough time lugging my computer to lans, I've gained a ton of weight from when I was in an alu case, but I have to comprimise somewhere and I ditched the old CRT when I am replacing when I get my LCD today :)

Actually, if this unit would fit, maybe get 3 of them while I am at it: one for CPU, GPU, SBU (ok fine, its not SBU, but I thought I'd come up with something new that rythms :p: ). Imagine taking that to a lan. It wouldn't be a computer anymore, it would be your freezer. Don't forget to keep some drinks in there too.

So is the OCZ phase change available in Europa ( Germany ) yet ?

Yeah thats what I was indicating, but its really called a south bridge (unit doesn't apply because its non-removable I think).

19" Samsung Flat Screen CRT -- ~50 LBS (SyncMaster 997MB)
my case, which is the Thermaltake XASER III V2000A Supertower, is roughly 20" deep, and 20" tall....weighs about another ~45-50 lbs, all air (cmon, four hdd's, 2 opticals, etc)

i had a 17" crt but now i have 24" lcd and i go to lans

Answer to mobile phase problems solved... Just have chilly retrofit it in to a V2000 or a U2-UFO w/ casters and roll it to your LAN events :D

That's what I plan on doing with mine, hehe. It's also nice to be able to take a phased rig to LAN's and then have all the kiddies surround ur setup in sheer amazement having no clue what most of the extreme cooling parts in your computer do. Mmmm, luv pwnin dem noobs :)
