Allstarshop corrected the specs for the X1600XT (which previously had ddr2 clocks listed ;) ) within an hour of my e-mail to them...thats not bad for a site that isn't newegg....

Ha ha :p: No. Not for a $200 card ;) 7k with water and a well clocked a64 (~2.9) quite likely, but definitely not 9k ;)

Though, two of these in crossfire will blow away quite a bit of things...not to mention that it has SM 3.0, which the X850/X800s dont ... AND in crossfire it will not suffer from the 1600x1200 max res limitation as the x850s and x800 crossfire setups are plagued with, meaning playing games at 2048x1536 with a $400 crossfire investment that nets you 10k++ points in 05 ;)

Hey Perk, did you read over at the Inquirer they say ATI is going to move the X1600XX to 256bit bus? (Sorry no link) Sounds like ATI realizes Nvidia cards in the same price class are putting them smack down on 'em.

The Inq can sometimes be as dumb as a doornail. ATI always refers to its 128-bit bus as its 256 bit ring bus and its 256-bit bus as its 512-bit ring bus.

The X1600XT, as well as the entire X1x series, are making great gains with each driver release. I wouldn't count the X1600XT out just yet...that .85v core voltage is just amazing. ATI is getting 600mhz with .85v...think of what might happen with 1.2v and a nice copper cooler.

OT: Haha nah ;) If i was dividing my time on two sites, I'd have a lower post count too ;) Though I've grown weary of keeping track of it though...mainly because my old 9600 which i let go off this month, couldn't even get my post count in 3d points in 3dmark 03 (it got 3500 in 03 ) :p:

Hoping to change that by jumping from 3500 in 03 to 6000 in 05 for ~$179 - only $79 more than what i paid for my 9600 last year ;)

Nice, that X1600XT should serve you well I'm sure. May not be the absolute best performer, but it isn't bad.

Great card that could clock high, this x1600xt is the same price and same target audience. if the 320+ transistor x1800's can handle 1.5V on water, I don't see why this x1600 at 160million transistors? can do the same 1.5V but OC to 750-850core, The lack of high quality power regulation as o nthe x1800 will be a limiting factor.

Yes, lack of power maybe a problem...but looking at one of the pictures it appears as if a connector may-I repeat may- be attachable. I would be great if someone would take their X1600XT (or Pro) and look on the front side of the card, the side with the heatsink, and look at the upper right corner. There appears to be solder pads (maybe, maybe not) there. If someone could get the voltages from them and mark what pad has what voltage, it may help with this power limiting factor.

I'm thinking of getting one of these soon. I just sold a 3200+ Venice that does 2.8GHz an Opteron 146 that only does 2.7GHz and a Pentium-M 740 that does 2.7GHz, for a total of £250. So I have some money to spend. I think i'll wait abit before getting another top-end card so these seem like a nice choice, maybe R580 or R600.

R580 should be coming along in a few months, so I'd have to say a good move.

unfortunatly I don't believe there is an place to solder a power connector to the sapphire 1600xt or the powercolor... I looked at fornt and backs and both cards are same PCB layout. and theres no solder points from what I could see.

ahhh, o'well. I looked at a pic from newegg and was something up there, just wasn't sure what that something was...too bad it's solder points :(

Ati overclocker tool dont work for x1600xt [or the catalysts dont support yet] i can change the gpu and rams freq but not the voltages ,
