I'm surprised. I thought PCP&C was God's PSU.
FSP Group (Fortron) is no slouch PSU either. Anybody get this one yet?

Well FCG's other PSU is GOD's psu - 1kw PCP&C....:slobber:Quote:

With the reputation PCP&C has I would have thought the coroner would have ruled it a freak accident. Since nothing makes me cry (with the exception of physical pain) I'll instead offer up a silent prayer to the OC gods that your CPU's spirit and massive OC might be reborn in your next CPU. :rolleyes:Quote:

The 0516 FX-57 is survived by a 0512 FX-57, a 0530 FX-57, a 4600+ X2 and a 3200+ Venice. A 0528 FX-57 is expected shortly as well an RMA for the dead guy...
:D
Things will get better.
BTW, PCP&C RMA is here (overnight) and includes a return postage UPS sticker for sending to other unit back. Awesome service!
In leui of flowers, the dead FX-57's family requests you send money. LOL
No , that goodie i will take it ....Quote:
maybe you'll get a nice FX57 back from RMA like OPB 0524VPMW
Fu..i'n OCZ Powerstream 520W killed my DFI expert & CAB2E FX 57 ...
Either OCZ & PCP&C are good Psu when they don't die :D ...
I gues this we can mark as collateral damage ...
I always wondered what are the most common reasons for PSU catastrophic failure? Obviuosly, other than insufficiant PSU, or poor or defective parts and manufacturing, maybe:
1. cooling fan(s) start to fail or seize completely
2. poor power grid Integrity causing electrical crosstalk, surges, and/or drops (defective UPS/power conditioners included)
3. dust build up in the PSU causing overheating or possibly short circuit
4. PSU mods :D
Any other theories?
In the case of my Zippy 700W - from standing water on the table from installing the w/c loop on my video card. Didn't notice it and when I hit the power switch - POW! One of the main caps blew a hole in it's side  I must admit that was one of the most devastating HW losses of my life considering how much time was spent fully modding the psu:Quote:

FCG - I feel your pain and a lil tear appears in sorrow for your loss.
I guess we are all hitting the hardware blues right now and be it EXPERT woes or other similar (or related) catastrophes, it's all relative.
In the urge for more speed we all leap blindly into these things - after the superb (but flawed) non EXPERT I think we all expected great things from the new board - especially the way DFI sold it to us all, now one by one our irreplaceable hardware are dieing in battle.
Tis as sad time right now - I am beginning to think should I be worrying about my PCP&C 850w unit giving up with similar results.
Mav
Yes... water in a PSU will certainly guarantee catastrphic failure.
Found the 1kw Turbo Cool. I guess they're only available on the PCP&C site. $489 isn't too bad for three +12v lines totaling 66A @ ~80% efficiency. :slobber:Quote:

0512 is largely untested, i don't have the capcacity to test to extremely low temps, it goes to s7e9h3n/njkid32/chilly1 this week for some real testing, yes the batch number is pretty low
are you coming to vegas:)
I'm sure it will be an awesome cpu :cool:Quote:

my FX-57 0516WPMW and 510W PCP&C SLI psu are fine so far.... probably a freak thing that the psu died ? what were you running the rails at ?
My 0512 is a few lower than fcg's and it's an OK cpu :p:Quote:

BTW, I'm pretty sure I can confirm a cold bug of sorts on mine >300+ HTT @ -42C core.......
Sorry for your loss FCG - I know very well how you must feel! DFI rocks!
Did you look at your mosfets up close?
Still better than most FX-57 :eek:Quote:

I had my PC P&C 510 Deluxe SLi die on me once, but it didn't kill any other hardware...DFI and FX55 still alive!
I called PC P&C, talked with a technician to confirm it's death and he said to send it in.
They fixed it with one day of it's return and shipped it back immediately. I had it back the same week...
Take care
