asus and oc, that are two differnet thinks. a good solution would be to buy a abit an8 ultra or sli. or a epox 9npa+ ultra or sli. both boards run quite good. the abit hast 3,55volt maximum vdimm and i think 1,85volt maximum vcore. the epox has only 3.1 volt maximum vdimm but surely has more then 1.55 volt vdimm. ith has +3.5volt vdimm as much i remeber. the epox 9npa+ sli has somethink pretty nice. it hase 4phases for the cpu. it is for cpu overclock even bettern then the dfi. but the vdimm is a little bit to low if you use high voltage dimm's with bh-5's oder somethink like that.

Just to help with the Epox.. it offers (well...mine anyway) offers +0.355VCore over stock and 3.2VDIMM officially. My VDIMM circuit overvolts to give 3.25-3.28 VDIMM. Should have a DFI coming in today coz I got the Redline as well and i`m being held back my the lack of DIMM juice.

Shame about the boards :(. I`d be tempted to blame the board over the PSU, but thats just me. DFI should be more willing to accept they have quality testing issues.

the seasonic s12 he has bought is a pretty good psu. too the too tagan's he had before. it's just the throught that dfi is too not the BEST BOARD ever. it quite good. but it'S slow and i know a lot of peopel haveing serious trouble with that board.

EPoX nF4 or MSI K8N Neo4 paired w/DDR BOOSTER might be a good combo. My board gets 300HTT fine :D (Neo4 Plat REFURBED :slobber: ).

Epox NF3 and4 boards dont work with the DDR Booster. The Epox 9NDA3+ can be voltmodded very well for extra DIMM coz it uses the +5V rail for the derivation, but not the 9NPA+. That uses the +3.3V rail. Just saying so noone kills their board that way..

The Epox boards will do 315+ (CPU limiting and I cant be bothered to drop the multi to find out the HTT limit)

I dunno, i'm not motherboard engineer, but that doesn't look like a power supply problem. If something overvoltaged from your PSU, your other hardware would be damaged as well, hard drives, memory, ect - also i think those caps near the voltage regulators would have popped - see the Y looking etch at the top of the cap, that is where it is supposed to open if it is overvolted. It looks like the regulators overheated, fried and became shorts - the land that is fried on the bottom of the pcb looks like it is under one of those regulators, the 2 leads just to the left look like that is where the caps are (and look fine)...

It is not the PSU.
In Germany we had a great PSU test a few months ago and the Seasonic passed. Raisl were stable and the Ripple was within specs!
The Seasonic shpuld do great. I think you had bad luck with your motherboard.

Unfortunately, thats not how it works. I've had bad boards from just about every company. The biggest blow out of all (actual flames) was on an asus p4p800 2 years ago. Stuff just happens.

How can I call 3 time RMA for DFI boards in 4 months...I don`t call it bad luck but bad boards :slapass: . The seasonic was new and it ran about 10h...so I think it was the PSU the cause...I have tryed the ram and it is OK...but don`t know for the CPU, VGA and HD yet... :confused: I have send the Seasonic back to the shop cause I`m afraid to connect it to a new MOBO...I`m going on a Enermax Liberty 620W now...

Showing the pictures you have uploaded, it seems to me that the VCore Mos-fets has blown up......I think that the heatsink that is on the Mos-Fets for cooloing them down, DIDN'T have a good "contact" with them.......Maybe the company which builds and solders the components for DFI, didn't use much presure on the heatink when they puted it on for soldering, so it didn't attached the VCore Mos-fets well OR not at all..... :slapass:

I DON'T think that it is related to the PSU........ ;)

You R wright...the PSU seems to be ok after a few tests in the shop...but I have received an e-mail from DFI...

I'm glad someone agreed with me :)

To original poster: companies will always look to blame the customer during failure analysis, not just motherboard companies though. I've worked at a semiconductor company for about 7 years in the past, they will always look to pass the blame. I wouldn't take that excuse of a bug, and not being covered by rma.

Finaly got an answer from DFI...and they said that I will be grant with an "special discount" only if I can prove that has 2 or more of DFI MOBO`s before...they call this kind of people "DFI enthusiasts"... :stick: So as I send my two MOBO (I had 3 of them) in RMA I do not have the invoice any more :slapass: . And the best part is...the offerd me a "special price" of 320 USD for an DFI SLI-DR Expert...shipping included... :slapass: :slapass: :slapass: ...WTF...this is a lot much than prices in EU! :slapass: :slapass: :slapass:

But here is the worst news....my Opteron 146 0540 FPMW has gone :( :( :(

How it is possible as the DFI said it was the JP17 jumper the fault...I thought if the JP17 cause the burn out of the MOBO the ram should go with it too...but not the CPU... :confused: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

The PSU wasn`t the cause...It was tested and it seems OK...but I gave it back in RMA for precausion...I`m waiting for an Enermax Liberty 620W...Hope will get it next week...

It's not the jumper......The VCore Mos-Fet blowen up and it may had pass 12Volts to the CPU's VCore

What are you doing on this forum?!...The name it`s Xtreme systems and not stock systems! As I said before the DFI boards are used to be overclockers boards and there was not an extreme overclocking on my system the boards had bad components and thats it! Noone of my friends that has systems like mine but more OC`ed don`t have this problems...I mean a "screaming board"...For one board was my fault but two of them has gone for them selves!...Just look at the mails I have attached that DFI send me...

Same thing happened to me. It killed my CPU. You're lucky you can RMA. I can't RMA the board because it is covered with insulation from my phase change, and I can't RMA the proc because it is out of warranty already (Damn OEM warranty's).
