I got # 76 and YOU Got # 62 :D
Hope it's @ least as good as mine - had to drop to 10x270 last night but ran dual blend all night @ default vcore - GOOD LUCK :toast:
Get that thing crankin for XS D2OL - WE WANT BEEF :cow:
Cant wait to see results with the ballistix. They should really help you scale higher :)
GUYS> I put this thing in and a new x1800 xl. all was going well. I started clocking the x1800 then decided to give the cpu a spin. 1.7v @ 2900. 133/2-2-2-6
windows begins to load. POP!!! smoke comes rushing from the board. I figured the DFI is dead. then I popped the cpu out and wiped the AS5 off. looks fine no marks. I put it back in and reset cmos. fans spin for a split second and board turns off. Just to make sure, i swap to the venice 3000+. POST 1st try and loads into windows without a hiccup. Will someone just slap me please? I think I deserve it.
so beware. the lesson is don't pump lots of volts into a Dual opteron. Learn from my mistake. MY CCBWE is OFFICIALLY DEAD DUE TO HIGH VOLTAGE.
ouch didn't last long :(

worth a try, it was on stock volts :p:Quote:

now you tell me ;)
Im thinking something else went wrong. I had my 3800+ at 1.75 volts for over 2 weeks straight while running 2 instances of F@H with no incident. Since i dont aircool, what H/S were you using? I use a Storm and i also popped off the IHS.
hyper6 with 2 panaflos kicking hard (in and out) and it was working just fine. contact was perfect. As5 was plentiful. I am a pro when it comes to this. my mem voltage was really low then also. I had a 2gb mushkin kit in under 2.8v I think the cpu was just really sensitive to voltage. or.......................the dfi board kicked more volts than I entered in the bios and malfunctioned burning over 5vcore into the cpu making it burn like roman candle!!! I bet it's that damn DFI board acting up again! LOLQuote:

O man thats bad. I had 1.6v max in my X@ do to high heat. It was 51c stressed on that voltage. My venice can handle 1.75 easely. But it has had a quite long burnin on 1.6.
Why do all you guy's have 170 opterons and not het the less expencive 165 ? For the 10x mult ? or because 170 clock higher ?
My impression was that the 170 generally had better cores and peeps were hitting near 3ghz. Most 165 max about 2.8 or so. Yea maybe the 170 does have slightly better silicon. I'm starting to think the IHS has poor contact thats why it blew up like it did or maybe the sealants completely sealed up all the openings and there wasn't any way for gases to escape and it blew. AMD should take a look.
So i should pay an extra 100$ and go for the 170 ? U think its wworht that extra 100$ ?Quote:

i don't need that. My board can run 322 htt. may be more. Could not test that with my venice.Quote:

if all cores are teh same quality is there really a need to have all these different speed grades? So yea I think the 170 is slightly better than the 165. Ofcourse there will be diminishing returns. Personally I think the 175's are a waste of money.
Yeah i know what you are pointingat. I thought the same only my english is to bad so i cant explay it the way i want to. You see venice 3000+ cpu's clock 2.8 and other 3800+ do almost the same. That is what i mean. Is it the same case here. Or did AMD realy start selecting all good cores.Quote:

I whant 2x1mb minimum. Got 512 KB cache now but 1 mb is much better. And its not to expencive. That 165 is realy cheap. Here its the same price as a new X2 3800+ but u get double the cache and probaly better oc. New X2's don't clock that hard anymore.
Very nice for a dual core on air :)

transam: sorry for your early demise on that nice stepping opty
And I got 43 and mine rocks! Remember mine is in a SFF and the cooling is nowhere near what you guys are using I am sure it would push higher with a monster cooler
In my SN25P and am 100% prime stable for 24hours at 2.7ghz 1.4v on the core and my max temp over those 24 hours was 61c, It ran 2.7 at default voltage but Prime failed on Core 0 after about 6 hours, Not bad at all in my opinion considering how quiet the machine is. This chip kills my 4400+ I sold for more than I paid for this chip!
