If you dont mind could you take a picture of the GPU core. Rumor has it that ATi is using an updated version of the R520 on their XTs and I wanted to see if it was true or not.

very nice card! *ALMOST* tempted to sell gtx and sli-d for cf-dr and xt
Very nice score there. We want more, MORE!
what does the Current and Request clocks mean?
He died in sleep ?
Would love to see someone run single gtx and single 1800 same platform both non-oc'd then with an oc so it would be a real side by side compare. :)
Looking good :toast:
*serious question..so please don't flame me
Why did you decide to go with an X1800XT instead of waiting for the new nVidia card?
We have a release date now, why didn't you wait? Are you still gonna get one?
Thank you :)
I will be buying a 512MB GTX ASAP, hopefully on release date if I get lucky like I did this time and catch it before first shipment sells out.Quote:

I will do my best to have pics of my core posted today.

Even in HQ mode there is still annoying shimmering also the tearing is bad with the 7800GTX that everything needs to have vsync on which caps my FPS pretty bad on an LCD. I prefer ATI AA, they dont tear to the point that you need vsync and the ATI card doesnt shimmer. Dunno, but those are a few good reasons to buy ATI right now.
U said it. :fact:Quote:

I really don't want to take this thread off-topic...but that is simply not true...from 78 drivers onwards I had ZERO Shimmering bugs...even on the 78 drivers I just put LOD to clamp and high detail.....high detail vs normal detail only costs like 2 fps or so...no biggie..about the tearing and drop in fps when on...that's purely because certain games don't handle Vsync very well..Quote:

Thanks
Ive never had tearing problems, shimmering is non existant on the 81.85 drivers, so those points are not valid.
Of course. I didn't expect to have this card so soon but I have various pieces based on Storm/MCW55 on their way to me now but prolly won't be here till first of next week.Quote:

Same here, my GTX will be my first watercooled card...should be very interesting..I got my Maze4 in the post this morning along with some OCZ Ramsinks, already got my Vantec Spectrum fancard (woot) for some cooling on the memory :DQuote:

Google on tearing and nvidia I'm not the only one.
Nvidia has even publically stated they haven't even addressed the shimmering in Quality mode. I still see it in some apps with HQ - in fact their own driver release notes stated "reducing shimmering in HQ" - it's not a fixed issue.
The reason I dont use vsync is that on LCD monitor at 60Hz you are capping your FPS to 60.
that is awsome...and the card is freaking long....btw, seem like you're limited by the tool isn't it?
Nomrally i moderate my language, but bull:banana::banana::banana::banana:. only nvidia marketing claims it's solved, nvidia tech never claimed it solved, only deminished. i can't seem to stand the shimering in quality, and HQ doesnt cost you 2fps in 1920 (my LCD's resolution...). The fact is that it's there, i also agree for the tearing, couldnt stand it either so i sold my gtx rig and got back to my LAN (shuttle) x800xt rig... i didn't loose any money in the story but i was really disapointed...Quote:

it's a driver issue, no physical problems .. 'nuff said now quit bringing this thread off topic and being rude, go make a thread about it
the 512mb GTX look damn nice :slobber:
Did you turn on the Negative LOD bias clamp? It's a feature inwhich has been around since 67.02(it's what fixed the shimmering for us 6800 owners with CS:S). Shimmering is a bug caused by AF, which changing the mip-maps on the fly introduces new jaggies in the textures, and it only occurs with certain designs. The reason this occurs is because of an optimization which makes the textures look better without AA, it's an LOD bias tweak(and not one that's just for higher framerates, but for better IQ).Quote:

As for tearing, that's caused by your monitor not keeping up with your videocard, it occurs regardless of brand. Google tearing and ATi and you'll see the same complaints you find for tearing and NVidia. 60hz means anything about 60fps will show tearing...
Anyway, lets put this back on topic!
You got it!Quote:

I'm going to WC it anyway so meh. Anyway, you don't want to hear me ramble you want pics:

hmm, hate to be a party pooper but 700/1600 is not that impressive considering where it started. Especially on the memory side, youd think that 1.2ns ram could have alot more headroom. My XL's slower 1.4ns ram can do 1700 if I leave my case open, and 1550 with it closed. I think the worst buy will in fact be a 256MB XT.
Back on topic...

Newegg has XTs back in stock!!
That's much better dnottis. Lately it seems to no thread about any videocard from either the red or green team can stay on topic...
If ya'll want to go out jacking, go to the projects. If you want to talk about tech's x1800xt then do it here.
