What chips are on those TwinMOS DIMMs, TwinMOS or Winbond?Quote:

It's a 512 MB DIMM? Dual sided?

well it got me a new high score
i put replaced the buble gum under the hsf with as3 and flashed the new bios and got about 700 more 3dmarks with more ocing and better cooling
well heres my new score
i think its pretty high for only 1800 mhz

Time to trade in the Epox :D
Is the cold boot problem still there when OCing with this new bios?
I think I should try this mobo, do we have mem, core, and chipset v-mods avalible??
OPP
You never really said how you liked the 8RDA+. Did it outperform the A7N-S so far? (I know you just got a few more of the v-mods worked out.) I think Sys and DD already worked out the vmods on the board.
OPP,
Look in this thread, http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&threadid=4790
The v-mod is in the first 6 pages or so.
What about chipset vmod? I need it :)
The only mod I haven't seen is the chipset V-mod, I believe with the VDD mod this board will own all NF2 boards, especially with the new bios... The other vmods can be seen here with pictures: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&threadid=5167Quote:

From what ive read this board still has the very annoying cold boot problem even with the new bios when overclocking.
Single-sided 256M. It has TwinMOS chips on it. It was cheap and overclocks a lot better than I expected. Seems pretty darn stable at 225 * 9.5.Quote:

Now I'm gonna try the corsair xms3500....
OK I tried the corsair xms3500... I'm still limited to 225fsb in 3dMark but I can do 231fsb in pcmark.

I removed the TIM from the NB HS and used AS3 and have an 80mm fan blowing on the NB now. I still haven't tweaked the bios, drivers, or memory timings, so there is more left in this board I'm sure. No voltmod yet either :)
Can you post your bandwith @ 231 fsb ?
Thanks !
OK this one is at 233mhz using 7-3-3-2.5 memory timing and 2.8v on a 256mb stick of Corsair XMS3500C2 DDR:

Same memory timing at 231mhz:

This one is at 226mhz using 6-2-2-2 memory timing:

I'll do some more benchmarks using two sticks of TwinMOS DDR and post back here in a few mins...
Great info, I really want to see the TwinMOS numbers for the same test :-)Quote:

Wooo 233? Nice job! I got post @ 225mhz... 220mhz windows load but BSOD after login screen. Dual channel 2-6-2-2
I am going to try a diff. hard drive since OS is hosed, but I'm thinking we really need the chipset vmod.
This is cpu and mem mods... http://www.maximumoc.com/reviews/asusa7n8x_3.htmlQuote:

It will get you ~2.2 and as much mem as you want... had mine up to 3.59 (by accident yesterday) hehe
2 X TwinMOS PC3200DDR @ 225mhz with 7-3-3-2.5 memory timing:

Bah, there is hardly any performance gain. I tried using slots 1/3 and 2/3, with similar results. I already switched back to the corsair....
let me ask users of this board. the epox has a problem where you lose serious bandwith at mults under 10.0 at same fsb.
does this problem affect the a7n also?
We most certainly do! Where is DDTUNG????????Quote:

all the benchmarks that I just posted were at 9.5X...Quote:

You should be able to run the TwinMOS in CAS2-2-2-6 or so. I'm running my TwinMOS chip ones at 200 MHz 2-2-2-5 at the moment.Quote:

How much do you actually lose if you're under 10X on Epox?Quote:

i believe that was fixed in this version of the biosQuote:

i had the problem before nad now i dont :D
nice, nice guys. i'll get my mobo in few days and will v-mod it right off the bat:) looks like i'll be able to finally squise some real performance out of this chipset:)
