If you're not too worried about warranty or don't want to wait as you play the guessing game with RMA by swapping boards until you get a nichicon one, like keeper did for his kx7, you might try doing it yourself as discussed in this thread: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...5&pagenumber=2

Still running 200 at 2:2:2-6 (2 x 256 MB Mushkins) rock solid but I am running into some problems above 210 MB. Maybe I have to increase the voltage to 2.7 on the memory for that to make it work...

i've just received another a7n8x from komplett uk.. serial no# 2CZG0xxxx.. came with a G bios.. too bad it's a Ruby, heck it even overclocks worst than the older mobo! i'm going to return the new board as well as a stick of xms3500.. seems that A7N8X and XMS3500 doesn't mix very well.. i'm going to order another board from a different shop (request for nichicon) and buy a stick of either ocz el or hyperx ram.. argh!

The XMS need higher voltages than any other brand and that's why you may run into problems. Try the Mushkin PC3200, they run 200 MHz + at 2.6V, else, the el-cheapo A-Data are pretty good but those don't go that high at low latencies.

Yes.. but they gave me the credit back, since the change happened instantly like within a 30 min timeframe.. I was getting pist off but saw the -54.84 crdit there ;)

My board came with the Nichicon. have 200 fsb rock stable for now. 2 Days in full Load.

My OCZ-EL PC3500 does lot more than 200 fsb......but i dont think the chipset can handle. :( Need a vdd mod here !!!

Btw...i love my 15013 3DMarks with my GF4 TI4200 :)

Hey guys--been reading for a while but had to register to take part in the thread--a good one I must say--better than all the "how do I know my heat-sink is on right?" posts, but I digress.

Here is some good info on this subject--though anyone who has to ask what to do with the info should probably leave it alone. Did some checking on this topic and read the other like posts here. The Nichicons ASUS is currently using are HD series--which are damn near their best for this app-- see the link here:

I have the Nichicons myself, but the board will only do 185 regardless of what I do--I have an EPox on the way to check out the 3-phase power.

Anyhow, for those that are not squeamish and have a good iron and silver solder, here are some interesting links that might enable higher overclocks and or stability:
